Inferior mesenteric artery (IMA) aneurysms represent the minority of visceral aneurysm presentations. A 57-year-old female was admitted with a symptomatic IMA aneurysm secondary to atherosclerotic disease. She was treated with open excision which revealed a contained ruptured of a true aneurysm. This case highlights the challenges of an accurate preoperative diagnosis of IMA aneurysm and the correct position of the recent guidelines on visceral aneurysms issued by the Society of Vascular Surgery (SVS).

This chapter investigates the philosophical history of philosophy. It begins with a short account of its history before considering it systematically. The philosophical history of philosophy is best understood as a viable enterprise if one looks at it as a certain kind of retrospective history. Thus understood, the philosophical historian adopts a certain contemporary philosophical position as philosophically the correct position to take. They then proceed to look back at the history of philosophy to see how philosophers, step by step, advanced in the direction of the favoured position. This kind of retrospective history has certain inherent dangers and considerable limitations. There is the inherent danger that one takes the picture of the history of philosophy, which one thus gets, to be a representative picture of the history of philosophy. The enterprise thus interpreted seems to suffer mainly from the limitation that it yields a highly selective, rather anachronistic, and somewhat distorted picture of the history of philosophy.

The prevalence of impacted maxillary canines is 1 to 3%, with approximately 50% of impacted canines causing root resorption of adjacent teeth. If the permanent canine has not acquired its correct position, evaluation by an orthodontist is necessary to determine the most adequate treatment. Surgery and orthodontic treatment are used for the treatment of impacted canines in the maxilla affecting permanent dentition. Selection of the most adequate treatment to achieve the correct position of the canine tooth depends on the position of the canine. This article summarizes the different techniques available and describes their advantages, and cost-benefit considerations. The objective of this literature review is to describe the etiology of impacted maxillary canines and provide an update of the information on orthodontic treatments available for these patients.

Aim: This study aimed to explore family caregivers' experiences with tube feeding at home in Iran. Methods: This qualitative study was conducted with purposefully selected family caregivers who participated in an in-depth, semi-structured, face-to-face interview. Data analysis was performed through content analysis and rigor was investigated. Results: In total, 20 caregivers were interviewed. Two main categories were found in the interview data: ‘abandoned training’ and ‘lack of knowledge of nutrition’. Participants felt abandoned and unsupported by health professionals. Participants also reported feeling that health professionals passed the training responsibility to other health professionals who did not give training. This resulted in participants feeling obligated to learn from their peers. Participants lacked knowledge about nutrition, as well as how to prepare home-made formula for feeding, the correct position for feeding and feeding times. Conclusion: Despite having a heavy and vital responsibility, participants felt that they had not been adequately trained and thus faced making errors, resulting in negative consequences for the patient and the family. Therefore, appropriate plans must be made to promote preparation for home care.

Low back pain is pain that originates from the spine in the spinal area, muscles, nerves, tendons, joints, or cartilage due to the wrong position. Individuals who perform activities such as sitting up straight and bending over must be in the correct position. At Stikes Hang Tuah Tanjungpinang, a phenomenon was found that 42.7% of students complained of lower back pain due to wrong sitting habits such as sitting in a bent position when attending online lectures and doing college assignments. Sitting for too long in the wrong position causes muscle tension and spinal ligament strain. The results of interviews with students, most of the students who complain of low back pain do not understand what can be done to reduce or prevent low back pain due to sitting position and sitting too long. One of the non-pharmacological therapies to treat low back pain is McKenzie back exercises.  The purpose of this community service is to provide students with an understanding of low back pain and teach actions to reduce or prevent low back pain. The success indicator of this activity is that students understand and can perform the McKenzie back exercises The method used is to provide health education about low back pain and demonstrate McKenzie back exercises to students.

A 99-year-old woman with atrial fibrillation bradycardia and symptomatic long pauses underwent a leadless pacemaker implantation after red blood cell transfusion due to anaemia. The patient’s blood tests after transfusion showed hypercoagulability; haematocrit, haemoglobin and fibrinogen levels were increased from 24.5% to 33.2%, 76 g/L to 111g/L, and 346 mg/dL to 646 mg/dL, respectively. Blood tests showed no hereditary hypercoagulability disorder and she had no history of thrombophilia. A leadless pacemaker was implanted in the correct position in the right ventricle. Heparin was administered after sheath insertion and the leadless pacemaker system was thoroughly flushed with heparinised saline before the tether was cut; however, removing the tether after leadless pacemaker implantation was difficult because clots had formed on the tether.

The ability to recognize the own nest is a basic skill in nest constructing solitary bees. Osmia cornuta females use a dual mechanism of visual orientation to approach a nest and olfactory verification of the tube when entering it. Occupied tubular cavities were steadily marked by the resident female. Nest marking substances originate from Dufour’s gland and cuticle, enriched by external volatiles. Scent tags were dominated by alkanes and alkenes in a species-specific mixture enriched by small amounts of fatty acid esters, alcohols, and aldehydes. The individual nest tags are sufficiently variable but do not match perfectly with the nesting female. Furthermore, tags are not consistent over time, although females continue in marking. Besides the correct position of the entrance in space, bees have to learn also the bouquet of the used cavity and update their internal template at each visit to recognize their own nest by its actual smell. Due to the dominance of the species-specific hydrocarbon pattern, nest marks may function not only as an occupied sign but may also provide information on the species affiliation and constitution of the nest owner.

ABSTRACT Although he was legally blind, Charles R. Knight (1874–1953) established himself as the premier paleontological artist in the early 1900s. When the Field Museum, Chicago, commissioned a series of large paintings to document the evolution of life, Knight was the obvious choice. Knight considered himself an artist guided by science; he researched and illustrated living animals and modern landscapes to better understand and represent extinct life forms within their paleoecosystems. Knight began the process by examining fossil skeletons; he then constructed small models to recreate the animals’ life anatomy and investigate lighting. Once details were finalized, Knight supervised assistants to transfer the study painting to the final mural. The Field Museum mural process, a monumental task of translating science into public art, was accompanied by a synergistic tension between Knight, who wanted full control over his artwork, and the museum’s scientific staff; the correct position of an Eocene whale’s tail—whether uplifted or not—documents a critical example. Although modern scientific understanding has rendered some of Knight’s representations obsolete, the majority of his 28 murals remain on display in the Field Museum’s Evolving Planet exhibit. Museum educators contrast these murals with contemporary paleontological knowledge, thereby demonstrating scientific progress for better public understanding of the nature of science.

Habrosia (Sagineae, Caryophyllaceae) is a genus that includes only H. spinuliflora, a species occurring in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Turkey (Irano-Turanian floristic chorological element). Based on the available molecular data published in 2011, Habrosia appears to be nested in a Minuartia-clade, which includes taxa currently recognized under the genus Sabulina. Consequently, Habrosia should be treated as a genus to be included in Sabulina. However, the molecular tree published in 2011 considered only 9 Sabulina members whereas, according to the current concept, Sabulina is a genus comprising about 65 species. Unfortunately, the molecular phylogeny including a larger Sabulina sample published in 2014 did not include H. spinuliflora and the taxonomic position of Habrosia remains, therefore, uncertain. With the aim of verifying the correct position of Habrosia in the tribe Sagineae with respect to its relationship to Sabulina, a comprehensive molecular investigation based on ITS sequences, linked to detailed morphological data, is presented. The results obtained revealed that Habrosia is not part of Sabulina. A detailed description of H. spinuliflora, its ecological preference, and a distribution map are provided. Eventually, the name Arenaria spinulifolia (basionym of H. spinuliflora) is lectotypified on a specimen preserved at G (barcode G00212963).

It is impossible to establish the circumstances to be proved in the investigation of crimes related to medical errors without the use of special knowledge in the fi eld of forensic medicine. For the designated category of criminal cases, the expert opinion plays a key role in understanding the signs of the objective side of the crime. Unfortunately, in theory and in practice, there is still no uniform understanding of a number of concepts that are important for the development of a legally correct position by the parties to the prosecution and defense. This leads to problems when making procedural decisions by the investigation and the court, provokes public outrage. The article emphasizes that the experts make procedural, epistemological and activity errors in the production of all types of examinations. In relation to forensic medical expertise in cases of crimes in the fi eld of artifi cial human reproduction, some common errors that arise at the stage of formulating questions submitted for the expert’s permission are indicated. This study was carried out with the fi nancial support of the RFBR within the framework of scientifi c project No. 18-29-14084.
