Abstract: Concrete is the most common used material for construction &their design consumes almost the total cement production in the world. The use of large quantities of cement produces increasing CO2 emission and as a consequence the greenhouse effect. A method to reduce the cement content in the concrete mixes is the use of GGBS, Metakaolin Nano-Silica. This project aims to present the state of GGBS, Metakaolin& Nano-Silica's effect on the workability and mechanical properties of concrete and to find out the economy of the experiment as compared to convential concrete. Concrete has occupied an important place in construction industry in the past few decades and it is used widely in all types of constructions ranging from small buildings to large infrastructural dams or reservoirs.. According to UNSCEAR (United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiations), no less than 10% of lung cancer diseases registered annually are caused by radon radiation. Born in the belly of the earth, the same gas, a class I cancirogen, increases the risk of non-cancerous diseases of the upper respiratory tract and cardiovascular diseases. The radon problem occupies an important place in the radioecological programs of the USA, Japan, Western Europe and Russia. However, the natural radiation varies in the background from location to location. In many countries, survey work is being carried out, including an assessment of the intensity of the radon hazards of sites allocated for construction. In Russia, the Radiation Safety Standards are stipulating that the concentration of radon in the air of residential premises should not exceed 200 Bq/m3; in Sweden, the maximum radon concentration is taken as 100 Bq/m3, in Finland and Canada - 400 Bq/m3, and in Germany and Great Britain - 200 Bq/m3. It is necessary to carefully choose the constructive site, with the minimum concentration of radon in the soil. Our purpose is to carry out a cartographic analysis of radon intake from soil in the territory of Kazan. An important component is the creation of unique maps based on the measurement of radon escalation. The practical significance of the work lies in the application of the results for making management decisions, in engineering and environmental surveys, for conducting hygienic assessments, or simply being used by citizens for informational purposes.

Abstract Grammar is the structural foundation of successful communication, language use, and literacy development. Grammar is therefore sometimes viewed as the heart of language with an important place in language teaching. In a classroom setting, regulation of grammar knowledge through teachers is strongly influenced by teachers’ linguistic competence and beliefs. In this paper, we will first show the diversity in this knowledge by means of teacher interviews and speeded grammatical-acceptability data from pupils and students. We will then sketch a socio- and psycholinguistic perspective on several selected morphosyntactic variables in German. These will be discussed with reference to social forces that determine what is standard in a language (language norm authorities, language experts, model texts, and codifiers). Finally, we will draw a roadmap for teachers, language practitioners and editors looking for a qualified solution to grammatical cases of doubt in contemporary German and provide practical examples by drawing upon the German reference corpus.

Objectives: Maxillary impacted canines have an important place in orthodontics for the reason of being a common anomaly and its treatment is time consuming and difficult. The aim of this study was to investigate the mandibular indexes and cephalometric parameters in adolescents with impacted maxillary canines. Materials and Methods: The radiographs of 4026 patients aged 12–19 years old were scanned and a total of 155 patients were included in the study. Subjects were divided into three groups according to the permanent maxillary canines: Bilateral impacted canine (BIC) (52 subjects; mean age 15.02 ± 1.74 years), unilaterally impacted canine (UIC) (51 subjects; mean age 14.89 ± 1.39 years), and the control (52 subjects; mean age 14.84 ± 1.65 years) groups. Skeletal, soft tissue and dental measurements were performed on cephalometric radiographs. Mandibular index analyzes including the panoramic mandibular index (PMI), mental index (MI), antegonial index (AI), and gonial index (GI) measurements and also angular measurements of impacted maxillary canines were performed on panoramic radiographs. Data were analyzed statistically and P < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Maxillary skeletal and dental measurements showed retrusive positioned maxillary dental arch in the sagittal direction in the impacted canine groups (P < 0.05). PMI and MI values were greater in the BIC and UIC groups than in control group (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in AI value among groups (P < 0.05). GI value of BIC group was found statistically lower than other groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Individuals with impacted maxillary canines have more retrusive maxillary dental arch and soft-tissue components. Furthermore, mandibular cortex was thicker in subjects with impacted maxillary canine than individuals with not and clinicians should keep in mind this when examine the panoramic radiographs in terms of early diagnosis of impacted maxillary canine teeth.

Monitoring of polar ecosystems is one of the most important areas of research in the use of Arctic territories in economic activities. An important place in such work is occupied by biomedical research aimed at identifying the risks of the occurrence of foci of infectious diseases in the areas of polar settlements.The purpose: to develop an algorithm for microbiological monitoring in the Arctic region.Materials and methods: classical bacteriological, mycological research, molecular-genetic, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometric analysis, phenotypic methods for determining antibiotic resistance, methods of mathematical data processing.Results and their discussion. The paper considers the scientific and methodological principles and the main stages of microbiota monitoring in the areas of polar settlements. The results of the study of samples from several territories along the Northern Sea Route are presented. The main habitats where potentially dangerous microorganisms should be detected are indicated. The role of anthropogenic invasion in the formation of Arctic microbiocenoses is noted. The trends of increasing the number and diversity of pathogenic microorganisms, both in the natural biocenoses of the Arctic and in the areas of polar settlements, are discussed. The necessity of microbiological monitoring as an integral part of epidemiological monitoring in the areas of Arctic settlements along the Northern Sea Route is substantiated.

Adhesives and metal fasteners have an important place in the content of engineered wood products (EWPs). However, adhesives may cause toxic gas emissions due to their petroleum-based nature, while metal fasteners may adversely affect the reusability of these products. These issues also raise important questions about the sustainability and environmental friendliness of EWPs. Thus, there is still room for a solution that is solid and completely pure wood, adhesive- and metal-connectors-free dovetail wood board elements (DWBEs). There are many studies on the technological, ecological, and economic aspects of these products in the literature, but no studies have been conducted to assess the technical performance of DWBEs. This chapter focuses on DWBEs by proposing various geometric configurations for horizontal structural members in multistory building construction through architectural modeling programs. In this architectural design phase, which is one of the first but most important stages, the proposed configurations are based on a theoretical approach, considering contemporary construction practices rather than structural analysis or mechanical simulation. Further research, including technical performance tests, will be undertaken after this critical phase. It is believed that this chapter will contribute to the dissemination of DWBEs for innovative architectural and structural applications, especially in multistory wooden structures construction.

Background. Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) remains one of the most common infectious diseases, occupying an important place in the structure of mortality worldwide.Aim. To evaluate the effectiveness of antimicrobial therapy for community-acquired pneumonia in hospitalized patients in real clinical practice.Materials and methods. A retrospective, observational study was conducted, which included 236 patients hospitalized for community-acquired pneumonia at the Regional Clinical Hospital in Ryazan in 2019. Based on these case histories, an analysis of the effectiveness of the initial empiric antimicrobial therapy was performed.Results. The initial empiric antimicrobial therapy in 73% of cases included administration of ceftriaxone, in 45% of cases – levofloxacin, in 14% of cases – azithromycin. It was found that initial antimicrobial therapy was effective in 58% of patients who did not require replacement for the antibiotic. A need for a change in the treatment regimen was significantly associated with an increase in the length of hospitalization (p < 0.001), heart rate upon admission (p = 0.032), myelocyte count in the complete blood count (p < 0.001), and urea and blood creatinine levels (p = 0.004 and p = 0.044, respectively). The selected antimicrobial therapy regimen was significantly associated with the expected treatment effectiveness (p = 0.039). The choice of levofloxacin in monotherapy or in combination with ceftriaxone was accompanied by a decrease in the relative risk of replacing the antimicrobial, compared with other treatment regimens (odds ratio (OR) = 0.86 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.55–1.34) and OR = 0.57 (95% CI: 0.37–0.87), respectively).Conclusion. Empiric antimicrobial therapy for community-acquired pneumonia in real clinical practice complies with current recommendations, however, at the same time, its ineffectiveness persists. Respiratory fluoroquinolones are most effective in treating pneumonia in hospitalized patients.

Nowadays the social scientists are called to integrate within their studies new tools that modify and innovate the scientist's typical toolbox. Digital platforms, media, and especially apps pose further challenges to social scientists today, as they are an important place of significant socio-cultural, economic, health, relationships, and entertainment transformations. When studying digital technologies, in fact, it's important to pay attention to both their socio-cultural representations and technological aspects – since even design and data outputs have social and cultural influences. In this context, new research questions arise; among all the possible tools in the digital method toolbox, the walkthrough method is a noteworthy way to answer them. Starting from these considerations, this chapter aims to analyze, through a review of the literature, the birth and development of the walkthrough method in its various meanings to identify the innovative aspects and fields of application.

Turkish folk narratives formed around the Gallipoli Campaign, which reflect the mental, psychological, and cultural attitude of Turks towards this war and hold an important place in Turkish folklore, also have the potential to make significant contributions to battlefield tourism of the region. The effective, creative, and innovative uses of the folk narratives conveying the mystical, supernatural, and miraculous events believed to have taken place in this war can be used in the enrichment and diversification of space, products, services, and experiences offered in battlefield tourism. The ultimate aim of the study is to discuss how authentic, creative, and innovative tourist attractions can be created by the valorization, remediation, and reenactment of intangible war heritage based on the example of the relationship between folk narratives about the Gallipoli Campaign and battlefield tourism in the Gallipoli Peninsula.

India has long occupied an important place in Tibetan medicine's history and development. However, Indian Himalayan practitioners of Tibetan medicine, or amchi, have largely remained overlooked at the Tibetan medical periphery, despite playing a central social and medical role in their communities. Power and legitimacy, religion and economic development, biomedical encounters and Indian geopolitics all intersect in the work and identities of contemporary Himalayan amchi. This volume examines the crucial moment of crisis and transformation that occurred in the early 2000s to offer insights into the beginnings of Tibetan medicine's professionalization, industrialization, and official recognition in India and elsewhere. Based on fine-grained ethnographic studies in Ladakh, Zangskar, Sikkim, and the Darjeeling Hills, Healing at the Periphery asks how the dynamics of capitalism, social change, and the encounter with biomedicine affect small communities on the fringes of modern India, and, conversely, what local transformations of Tibetan medicine tell us about contemporary society and health care in the Himalayas and the Tibetan world.
