The article is devoted to the peculiarities of communication on the Russian-speaking segment of the social net Instagram. The aim of the article makes the analysis of diminutives - the words with diminutive-hypocoristic suffixes. In course of the study, over 250 users pages of Instagram were analyzed, and the most high-frequency lexemes were chosen. The derivational analysis was carried out to sort out the groups of relevant suffixes, and such a phenomenon as the synonymy was revealed. As is proved, despite different formal expression, all suffixes of diminutives bear diminutive-hypocoristic (or just hypocoristic) meaning which helps express subjective positive evaluation in respect to the environment, and demonstrate emotions (also positive) in course of communication. As is marked, the use of diminutives on the social net is not an occasional occurrence, its one of the significant exponents of the world view of the Russian-speaking people. The demand of language bearers for the diminutives witnesses of their high linguistic potential allowing the forms to create aesthetical communication over the Internet virtual space.

To make up for the defects of semanteme expression about linked data, this paper proposes a semanteme expressing method of associated entities based on relationship diagram so as to realize the machine expression and recognition of associated semanteme in relational databases. Starting with the structure and relationship of relational schema, this paper analyzes the rich semanteme of associated entities and presents the semanteme parsing method based on the traversal path as well as its formal expression; the analysis of instance database is also carried out. Studies show that this method can comprehensively parse and express the associated semanteme of entities. This work has reference significance for the research of intelligent semanteme synthesis and for semanteme-oriented intelligent query.

Despite minor amendments to the Royal Navy's Articles of War throughout the eighteenth century, and a major reworking in 1749, both capital and corporal punishments were frequently employed as punishment for minor offences in a system that made England's ‘Bloody Code’ look positively humane. The 1860 Naval Discipline Act provided the first substantive overhaul of the original Articles of War, but historians have generally lamented this act as providing little comprehensive change to the governance of the navy. Using statistical data collected from thousands of courts martial records, this article takes a broad look at trends in naval courts martial, studying how these courts interacted with the legislative changes of the 1860s. Viewing how charges and sentences altered on the global scale, it becomes clear that the ‘arbitrary and cruel punishments’ of the previous century had at last given way to a centralized, formal expression of discipline.

Voting is a formal expression of opinion or choice, either positive or negative, made by an individual or a group of individuals. However, conventional voting systems tend to be centralized, which are known to suffer from security and efficiency limitations. Hence, there has been a trend of moving to decentralized voting systems, such as those based on blockchain. The latter is a decentralized digital ledger in a peer-to-peer network, where a copy of the append-only ledger of digitally signed and encrypted transactions is maintained by each participant. Therefore, in this article, we perform a comprehensive review of blockchain-based voting systems and classify them based on a number of features (e.g., the types of blockchain used, the consensus approaches used, and the scale of participants). By systematically analyzing and comparing the different blockchain-based voting systems, we also identify a number of limitations and research opportunities. Hopefully, this survey will provide an in-depth insight into the potential utility of blockchain in voting systems and device future research agenda.

The singular nonsymmetric rank one perturbation of a self-adjoint operator from classes ${\mathcal H}_{-1}$ and ${\mathcal H}_{-2}$ was considered for the first time in works by Dudkin M.E. and Vdovenko T.I. \cite{k8,k9}. In the mentioned papers, some properties of the point spectrum are described, which occur during such perturbations. This paper proposes generalizations of the results presented in \cite{k8,k9} and \cite{k2} in the case of nonsymmetric class ${\mathcal H}_{-2}$ perturbations of finite rank. That is, the formal expression of the following is considered \begin{equation*} \tilde A=A+\sum \limits_{j=1}^{n}\alpha_j\langle\cdot,\omega_j\rangle\delta_j, \end{equation*} where $A$ is an unperturbed self-adjoint operator on a separable Hilbert space ${\mathcal H}$, $\alpha_j\in{\mathbb C}$, $\omega_j$, $\delta_j$, $j=1,2, ..., n<\infty$ are vectors from the negative space ${\mathcal H}_{-2}$ constructed by the operator $A$, $\langle\cdot,\cdot\rangle$ is the dual scalar product between positive and negative spaces.

The influence of motivational relations on the phraseologisation of the morpheme structure of a derived word is analyzed the article. The main factors that help to find the hidden semantic components of figurative derivatives that have not received formal expression are outlined. Figuratively motivated derivative units, the morpheme structure of which cannot reflect the entire amount of information related to this element of reality are the object of the study. The phraseologization of the morpheme structure of figurative derivatives is caused by several factors: 1) the absence of the indication to the nomination object in the morpheme structure of the word; 2) «blurriness» of features – the basis of figurative and comparative relations; the speaker has to establish this feature independently, based on the typical figurative ideas inherent in the collective consciousness of a particular ethnic community; 3) the invariance of the affixes meanings. The conditions for establishing motivational relationships, namely, the presence of a minimal contextual environment of the derivative, play an important role in determining the hidden semantic components. In addition, the meaning of the word-forming formants should also be taken into account. The verbal context enables to actualize in the semantics of the figurative derivative the motivational feature that served as the basis for the formation of individual lexical and word-forming meaning, which is more or less part of the structure of lexical meaning of the word. In some cases, particularly for derivative words rarely used in modern language (obsolete, socially marked ones, etc.), synonymous relations can be such a kind of «context». In addition to the verbal context, an important element for establishing motivational features is the reliance on the internal context, which helps to understand the content of figurative derivatives by referring to the diverse knowledge of native speakers about the motivator and the stable associative and figurative representations fixed by it.

Digital Libraries (DLs), especially in the Cultural Heritage domain, are rich in narratives. Every digital object in a DL tells some kind of story, regardless of the medium, the genre, or the type of the object. However, DLs do not offer services about narratives, for example it is not possible to discover a narrative, to create one, or to compare two narratives. Certainly, DLs offer discovery functionalities over their contents, but these services merely address the objects that carry the narratives (e.g. books, images, audiovisual objects), without regard for the narratives themselves. The present work aims at introducing narratives as first-class citizens in DLs, by providing a formal expression of what a narrative is. In particular, this paper presents a conceptualisation of the domain of narratives, and its specification through the Narrative Ontology (NOnt for short), expressed in first-order logic. NOnt has been implemented as an extension of three standard vocabularies, i.e. the CIDOC CRM, FRBRoo, and OWL Time, and using the SWRL rule language to express the axioms. On the basis of NOnt, we have developed the Narrative Building and Visualising (NBVT) tool, and applied it in four case studies to validate the ontology. NOnt is also being validated in the context of the Mingei European project, in which it is applied to the representation of knowledge about Craft Heritage.

Abstract Computations of the primordial black hole (PBH) mass function discussed in the literature have conceptual issues. They stem from the fact that the mass function is a differential quantity and the standard criterion of the PBH formation from the seed primordial fluctuations cannot be directly applied to the computation of the differential quantities. We propose a new criterion of the PBH formation, which is the addition of one extra condition to the existing one. By doing this, we derive a formal expression of the PBH mass function without introducing any ambiguous interpretations that exist in the previous studies. Once the underlying primordial fluctuations are specified, the PBH mass function can be in principle determined by the new formula. As a demonstration of our formulation, we compute the PBH mass function analytically for the case where the perturbations are Gaussian and the space is 1 dimension.

AbstractThis paper explores the formal expression of two Basque dative argument types in combination with psych nouns and adjectives, in intransitive and transitive clauses: (i) those that express the experiencer, and (ii) those that express the stimulus of the psychological state denoted by the psych noun and adjective. In the intransitive structure involving a dative experiencer (DatExpIS), the stimulus is in the absolutive case, and the intransitive copula izan ‘be’ shows both dative and absolutive agreement. This construction basically corresponds to those built upon the piacere type of psychological verbs typified in (Belletti, Adriana & Luigi Rizzi. 1988. Psych-verbs and θ-theory. Natural Language and Linguistic Theory 6. 291–352) three-way classification of Italian psych verbs. In the intransitive structure involving a dative stimulus (DatStimIS), the experiencer is marked by absolutive case, and the same intransitive copula shows both absolutive and dative agreement (with the latter corresponding to the dative stimulus and not to the experiencer). We show that the behavior of the dative argument in the two constructions is just the opposite of each other regarding a number of morphosyntactic tests, including agreement, constituency, hierarchy and selection. Additionally, we explore two parallel transitive constructions that involve either a dative experiencer and an ergative stimulus (DatExpTS) or a dative stimulus and an ergative experiencer (DatStimTS), which employ the transitive copula *edun ‘have’. Considering these configurations, we propose an extended and more fine-grained typology of psych predicates.
