Identification of cancer-specific target molecules and biomarkers may be useful in the development of novel treatment and immunotherapeutic strategies. We have recently demonstrated that the expression of long noncoding (lnc) RNAs can be cancer-type specific due to abnormal chromatin remodeling and alternative splicing. Furthermore, we identified and determined that the functional small protein C20orf204-189AA encoded by long intergenic noncoding RNA Linc00176 that is expressed predominantly in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), enhances transcription of ribosomal RNAs and supports growth of HCC. In this study we combined RNA-sequencing and polysome profiling to identify novel micropeptides that originate from HCC-specific lncRNAs. We identified nine lncRNAs that are expressed exclusively in HCC cells but not in the liver or other normal tissues. Here, DNase-sequencing data revealed that the altered chromatin structure plays a key role in the HCC-specific expression of lncRNAs. Three out of nine HCC-specific lncRNAs contain at least one open reading frame (ORF) longer than 50 amino acid (aa) and enriched in the polysome fraction, suggesting that they are translated. We generated a peptide specific antibody to characterize one candidate, NONHSAT013026.2/Linc013026. We show that Linc013026 encodes a 68 amino acid micropeptide that is mainly localized at the perinuclear region. Linc013026-68AA is expressed in a subset of HCC cells and plays a role in cell proliferation, suggesting that Linc013026-68AA may be used as a HCC-specific target molecule. Our finding also sheds light on the role of the previously ignored ’dark proteome’, that originates from noncoding regions in the maintenance of cancer.

The article discusses different approaches to localization – as one of translation strategies and as a separate tool for rendering language messages in another language. The study is done with the help of comparative linguistic analysis of original movie titles in the English language and their official Russian versions. We study ways of rendering of the film titles in the target language and reveal some reasons for localization. In conclusion, we provide a list of motives for language localization of the movie titles: 1) tendency to build the name of a new film into the system of films already known to the Russian viewer or other cultural realities with the help of socalled "references" to familiar nominations; 2) give additional advertising to the film, 3) make the film more attractive to a specific target audience.

Abstract A speaker/writer uses a placeholder (PH) to fill in the syntactic slot of a target word when she has no immediate access to the word or prefers to avoid explicitly mentioning it for contextual reasons. In the present article, I point out a hitherto understudied usage of PHs: a speaker/writer who does not have in mind a specific target form may use a PH to refer to an arbitrary entity (e.g. person, object, action, event, proposition). I substantiate this claim by analysing a variety of original data on Japanese wh-derived PHs. Further evidence for this claim comes from a cross-linguistic survey of wh-derived PHs in Korean and demonstrative-derived PHs in Romanian and Bulgarian. I show that the arbitrary-referential function is observed in PHs in all these languages, regardless of their origins (i.e. wh word, demonstrative) and their categories (i.e. nominal, verbal).

Abstract           Hadipolo Village is one of the villages in Jekulo District, Kudus Regency. In this village there are several bitter melon farmers who process it into snacks that are nutritious and very beneficial for health. So far, the marketing process for bitter melon chips is still done traditionally so that sales of bitter gourd chips are not optimal in quantity and the range of promotions is still limited around the city of Kudus, although there are some requests from outside the city but the numbers are still large. still a little because of lack of promotion. The purpose of this community service is to develop and socialize e-commerce applications which are expected to help and increase the income and welfare of the bitter melon chip craftsmen in Hadipolo Village. With a specific target in the use of Pare e-commerce, namely increasing the marketing quantity of bitter gourd chips by expanding the marketing area by promoting the results of bitter melon chips through e-commerce so that they can reach a wider market. Pare e-commerce is an e-commerce used by Kube Pare chips in developing and marketing products from Pare chips. The way this system works is by conducting online buying and selling transactions, so that the marketing area is also wider. In this study, we present a review on a useful approach, namely, immunoaffinity column coupled with monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), to separate natural compounds and its application for cell-based studies. The immunoaffinity column aids in separating the specific target compound from the crude extract. The column capacity was stable even after more than 10 purification cycles of use under the same conditions. After applying the crude extract to the column, the column was washed with washing buffer and eluted with elution buffer. The elution fraction contained the target compound bound to MAb, whereas the washing fraction was the crude extract, which contained all compounds except a group of target compounds; therefore, the washing fraction was referred to as a knockout (KO) crude extract. Cell-based studies using the KO extract revealed the actual effects of the natural compounds in the crude extract. One-step separation of natural compounds using the immunoaffinity column coupled with MAbs may help in determining the potential functions of natural compounds in crude extracts.

This community service activity is motivated by the potential for the spread of the Covid virus which is still happening and the Awipari Village does not yet have health facilities that are balanced with its population. In addition, the use of disinfectants as a protection for families and the environment from the spread of the Covid-19 virus is still not available with natural ingredients and is safe for the environment. This is what training on the manufacture of safe and environmentally friendly disinfectants needs to be done. The main purpose of this community service is to help target partners to be more independent in providing the disinfectant needs that residents need. Furthermore, it can be used as an alternative field to increase household income. The specific target to be achieved in the future is that target partners are able and accustomed to using safe and environmentally friendly basic materials in making disinfectants. Community service activities will be held in September 2021 at the Awipari Village Office, Tasikmalaya City. The methods used are lectures, discussions, and the practice of making disinfectants directly. Community service activities are very well received by partner community groups. The community is enthusiastic and active in demonstrations and discussions and wants this service activity to be routine and continue with various training themes according to community needs.

Many innovative products are designed to satisfy the demand of specific target consumers; thus, the innovators will inevitably compete with each other in the product market. We investigate how a profit-maximizing principal should properly allocate her limited resources to support the innovations of multiple potentially competing innovators. We find that, as the available resources increase, the optimal diversification of investment may first increase and then decrease. This interesting nonmonotone pattern is driven by a trade-off between the risk of innovation failure and rent dissipation because of competition. Using this framework, we also analyze a nonprofit principal seeking to maximize the total number of successful innovations, the probability of at least one innovator succeeding, consumer surplus, and total social welfare. A nonprofit principal tends to invest more diversely compared with a for-profit counterpart. This paper was accepted by Sridhar Tayur, entrepreneurship and innovation.
