Interference patterns in the scattering of positrons and electrons by diatomic homonuclear molecules are ab initio calculated. Our results are compared to model potential calculations with incident particles in twisted and plane wave states. All calculations are obtained in the first Born approximation framework. The comparison of the elastic differential cross sections shows how an ab initio description of the electronic molecular structure influence the interference minima structure. The origin of such patterns are also discussed.

AbstractVarious efforts have been made to determine the polarization state of evanescent waves in different structures. The present study shows the reliability of magneto-optical spectroscopy of D1 and D2 lines of rubidium metal and polarization-dependent transitions to investigate and trace the changes in the polarization state of evanescent fields during total internal reflection over different angles. For this purpose, we design and fabricate atomic- evanescent Rb vapor cells and examine the effect of polarization changes of evanescent waves, depending on the propagation direction of evanescent waves in anisotropic rubidium vapor media under 88 mT external magnetic field by different configurations theoretically and experimentally. The results confirm the dependency of allowed $$\sigma^{ \pm } { }\;{\text{and}}\;\pi$$ σ ± and π transitions on the magneto optical configuration as a tool to determine changes in the polarization of evanescent waves in more complicated wave states in anisotropic media.

Abstract We employ hydrodynamics and gauge/gravity to study magneto-transport in phases of matter where translations are broken (pseudo-)spontaneously. First we provide a hydrodynamic description of systems where translations are broken homogeneously at nonzero lattice pressure and magnetic field. This allows us to determine analytic expressions for all the relevant transport coefficients. Next we construct holographic models of those phases and determine all the DC conductivities in terms of the dual black hole geometry. Combining the hydrodynamic and holographic descriptions we obtain analytic expression for the AC thermo-electric correlators. These are fixed in terms of the black hole geometry and a pinning frequency we determine numerically. We find an excellent agreement between our hydrodynamic and holographic descriptions and show that the holographic models are good avatars for the study of magneto-phonons.

In this study, a method for effectively estimating the airflow rate of the turbine of an oscillating water column (OWC) pilot plant was developed. The validity of the proposed method was verified through computational fluid dynamics simulations. The method was applied to estimate the airflow rate in irregular wave states based on the operation data obtained for the Yongsoo OWC pilot plant installed in the western seas of Jeju Island, South Korea. As an alternative to estimating the airflow rate of the OWC pilot plant, the impulse turbine performance chart-based interpolation method is introduced, and it is shown that the airflow rate time series calculated using the two methods were in good agreement.

Abstract We study gamma-ray line signatures from electroweakly interacting non-abelian spin-1 dark matter (DM). In this model, Z2-odd spin-1 particles including a DM candidate have the SU(2)L triplet-like features, and the Sommerfeld enhancement is relevant in the annihilation processes. We derive the annihilation cross sections contributing to the photon emission and compare with the SU(2)L triplet fermions, such as Wino DM in the supersymmetric Standard Model. The Sommerfeld enhancement factor is approximately the same in both systems, while our spin-1 DM predicts the larger annihilation cross sections into γγ/Zγ modes than those of the Wino by $$ \frac{38}{9} $$ 38 9 . This is because a spin-1 DM pair forms not only J = 0 but also J = 2 partial wave states where J denotes the total spin angular momentum. Our spin-1 DM also has a new annihilation mode into Z2-even extra heavy vector and photon, Z′γ. For this mode, the photon energy depends on the masses of DM and the heavy vector, and thus we have a chance to probe the mass spectrum. The latest gamma-ray line search in the Galactic Center region gives a strong constraint on our spin-1 DM. We can probe the DM mass for ≲ 25.3 TeV by the Cherenkov Telescope Array experiment even if we assume a conservative DM density profile.
