Emerging adults rely on family, friends, and others in their personal networks to aid in making decisions. Parents are heavily involved in the lives of their children, ensuring that they have all of the supports or advantages in place to become successful. This chapter focuses on the continued importance and impact of the family, particularly parental figures, for emerging adults in higher education. An overview of seminal interdisciplinary theories is provided, along with a discussion of contrasting parental behaviors and their consequences. Special attention is given to first-generation students and those who lack parental support. A case study and reflection questions help readers apply the chapter’s content so that emerging adults can foster developmentally appropriate supportive relationships.

Abstract The collapse of the traditional Japanese household system and the subsequent social advancement of women has led supporting parents as a family matter, and led more men to assume caregiving roles; however, very few studies have focused on sons’ care motivation. This study aimed to understand adult sons’ perceived care motivation and to examine the respective related factors of emotional attachment and reciprocity. A total of 1322 men (M [age] = 44.5) participated in a web-based questionnaire survey. Perceived care motivation for providing five types of support (e.g., helping with daily activities and housework) to each parent and parent-in-law was assessed. Regression analyses revealed that emotional attachment with parents and parents-in-law predicted perceived care motivation for all types of support. Furthermore, the role of reciprocity was indicated by the association between rearing by mother-in-law and son-in-law’s motivation to provide assistance in financial matters, housework, and visiting a hospital.

Most mishaps happening at clinical foundations treating older patients with portability hindrance are bedsores and slip-and-fall accidents. One reason for this high pace of mishaps is the absence of nursing faculty. So as to help parental figures in nursing old patients who are unable to move freely, we offer an arrangement and implementation of a wise bed in this work. This is the bed. Under the sheet material spread, a couple of weight sensors are passed to consider the two social orders' regular actual characteristics as well as the specific body portions where bedsores commonly arise. The body zone is divided into three vertical territories and three level zones to cope with the weight ulcer territory and prevent falls. Each microcontroller unit is in charge of monitoring pressure-differentiating data in one of the bodily regions separated on a level plane. In this review, a consistent weight distinguishing figure is offered that is useful for predicting the anticipated outcomes of bedsores and falling setbacks by taking into account both the strength and the length of weight of unambiguous body parts. Our preliminary findings reveal that a model magnificent bed serves a pair of human models of varied heights and burdens admirably.

Few researchers have examined how family communication patterns influence child help-seeking behaviors and child help-providing behaviors in relation to the parent-child relationship during the period of emerging adulthood. In the current study we utilized a latent profile analysis to determine family communication pattern types from two standard communication orientations (i.e., conversation orientation and conformity orientation). We also examined how pattern types were associated with parent-emerging adult relationship quality and help/support seeking/providing behavior within the family during the period of emerging adulthood as reported by emerging adults ( n = 129) and one of their parental figures ( n = 129). The data supported two family communication types (i.e., protective and pluralistic) created from conversation and conformity orientation scores and we utilized them to differentiate between relationship qualities and help/support seeking/providing behavior when those behaviors were reported by emerging adults but not their parental figures.

The article presents a historical and ontological analysis of modern Russian deviantology as a socially significant interdisciplinary field of knowledge. The scientific and historical context of deviantology is described. The categorical apparatus is justified. The author reveals the attributive signs of deviance and deviant behavior in the paradigm of the integrative-convergent model of interaction between the individual and the environment. The thesis about the formation of deviant identity through selective negative and aggressive identifications with significant parental figures is put forward. The problems of interdisciplinary dissociation and linear functionalism of deviantological knowledge are emphasized. The challenges of the time are described, and the prospects for development are determined.
