The purpose of this study was to assist the faculty of the Institute of Information and Computer Studies in securing their records and personal devices that were left at the office. This study made use of developmental-descriptive research. In software development, the Rapid Application Development (RAD) model was used. The system was developed using the n-tier architectural design. Because the developed system will be deployed in the IICS Building, the concerned faculty can be added as secondary users of the system so that they, along with the guard-on-duty, receive notification whenever there is motion detected during the night. A short message service (SMS) support is essential as a communication tool in notifying the room custodian and security guard-on-duty.

This study aims to develop a communication model based on local wisdom originating from Sundanese culture, namely Silih Simbeuh, which is carried out by bureaucrats to socialize their policies to the public. The method used is qualitative, with a survey approach – descriptive. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation studies. 29 research informants were determined purposively. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of reduction, display, analysis, and concluding. The objects of research are three governors who actively use social media, namely Anis Baswedan (DKI Jakarta), Ridwan Kamil (West Java), and Ganjar Pranowo (Central Java). The results show that the use of social media can be an effective and efficient communication tool in disseminating policies, through increasing public participation. This is shown in the form of following social media accounts, comments, reposts, and other interactions. The results of other studies show that the communication model using social media based on the Silih Simbeuh concept has proven to be effective in minimizing potential conflicts between policymakers and citizens and between citizens. The research location is narrow, the respondents are limited, and the methods used do not allow for generalizations. Further research is needed with more comprehensive coverage of respondents and methods Silih Simbeuh's local wisdom values can minimize conflicts in the communication process between policymakers and the community

Abstract The creativity of artistic works through songs in Indonesian history from the past until now has become very effective as a communication tool for social and political change. In ancient times in the Javanese cultural tradition, a so-called tembang or song was used as a means of communication to provide directions for these changes. Tembang or song turned out to be a tool to convey a message of public awareness of the various problems that occurred. The study of the means of communication through the song became a marker for the socio-political changes that marked an era. This paper discusses the difference in the transmission of a song in the period leading up to the independence of Indonesia or the modern era of the archipelago. The Banyuwangi folk song known as 'Genjer-genjer' which at the beginning of its creation in the Japanese era was only limited to functioning as an entertainment song, but at one time in a period, it could turn into a song that was very thick with the message of an ideology and politics. This folk song, which uses Javanese rhymes with the Banyuwangi dialect, will later change and be considered an effective propaganda tool for a political power that is national and even international. Nowadays, the song Genjer-genjer is more interesting because it has been sung by foreigners using a foreign language or releasing the original lyrics. As a result, this song, which used to be so popular, then in a few decades when the regime change took place, became banned and disappeared from the public's ear, is now starting to be known and sounds lively again. With this fact, through this study, the public will then understand the meaning and value of the importance of means of communication from cultural works through a song in general, and the song 'Genjer-genjer' in particular. A song can be very effective as a means of communication. The song does not have a single eye, that is, it is only entertainment and a mere release of personal expression. Songs have many functions and faces.

The guide of experts is a directory of researchers from an institution who are willing to collaborate with the media and allows journalists to locate them autonomously in a short time. It is a communication tool that optimizes the media projection of the organization's intellectual capital, increasing the visibility, branding, and organization's intellectual capital, increasing the visibility, brand, and reputation of the institution. For this reason, its presence and management in Spanish private universities are researched. The objectives are to ascertain their presence or absence from the guide; identify the reasons that have slowed down their digital implementation; analyze their location, type of format, and languages; research how an expert is located; analyze the curricular data offered by the researcher; reveal the curricular data offered by the expert, and make known the methods for contacting the specialist. The methodology is based on content analysis and the study period is from February to June 2020. The results indicate a poor presence, although they are always located in the press rooms and their format is usually digital (not in pdf), allowing the search by name-surname or specialty, mainly only in Spanish, offering little curricular information on the researchers and always allowing contact by telephone or institutional e-mail through both direct contact and contact mediated by the communication office. It concludes with an overview of its implementation and an identification of the dysfunctions and good practices detected for transferring scientific knowledge through this organizational tool.

Donald Trump’s use of Twitter as a modality to defame opponents, antagonize media outlets and even glorify violence is an enduring legacy for political campaigns, presidential rhetoric and argumentative debates. This nontraditional use of social media as a political communication tool has invited Twitter’s fact-checking editorial decisions, alienated some of Trump’s supporters and attracted worldwide criticism. Using purposive sampling, the present paper employs the ten textual-conceptual functions of critical stylistics to analyze a dataset of Trump’s tweets on domestic and international political issues published between 2011 and 2020 and assembled from the monitor corpus Trump Twitter Archive. The critical stylistic analysis aims at uncovering Trump’s ideological outlook by identifying the extra layer of meaning in which the ideological evaluation is structured and exposing the way in which the resources of language are strategically deployed to influence and ideologically manipulate Trump’s followers’ experience of reality. Analysis reveals a network of lexical, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic choices underlying Trump’s seemingly simple rhetoric. It signposts his ideological evaluation and constructs a world for his followers to desire, believe or fear. The study extends the application of critical stylistics to microblogging channels, with implications both for the linguistic make-up of political communication in Web 2.0 contexts and for the explanatory power of critical stylistics.

Human action is not rational, and this irrationality manifests itself especially in decisions under uncertainty – the COVID-19 pandemic is one example of many in this respect. At the same time, various branches of research have been able to identify systematic patterns in irrational human behavior, and these have been attempted to be subsumed under the umbrella term of 'nudging'. Nudging describes the intentional change of decision architectures with the purpose of transforming irrationalities and/or distortions of human perception into predictable action. Thus, nudging represents a potent communication tool, especially in crisis communication scenarios. After presenting the basic theoretical assumptions of nudging, two examples of highly effective crisis communication strategies employed during the COVID-19 pandemic will be used to illustrate, contextualize, and reflect on central mechanisms and workings of nudging. This chapter ends with a summary of the most central findings as well as a critical reflection on potential future fields of action.

The new information age technologies influence and shape the social and business life of individuals. Technological changes and their impact on business and society are also seen in cities, countries, and even on a global scale to use resources efficiently and to increase social welfare. As the internet is a fast and convenient communication tool, it is important to make correct decisions by distinguishing functional information while adapting to this change. In the process of digitalization, it is necessary to cooperate with libraries and other memory institutions to interact with digital cultural heritage in obsolete or inaccessible formats. From this point of view, the smart cities are seen as the reflections of digitalization on social life; then the difficulties and opportunities encountered in the process are mentioned in this chapter. In this way, information awareness which can directly affect the level of the ability to use information effectively is expected to increase in the digitalization process.
