Abstract: Propellanes and derivatives have attractive properties due to their unique structure. Therefore, [3.3.3] propellanes, containing tricyclic structures with one of the carbon-carbon bonds common in three rings, were used in natural products, pharmaceutical compounds, and heterocyclic compounds, which were biologically important. The various multi-component reactions were applied in the synthesis of propellanes, which were highlighted throughout this review

Gibran Khalil Gibran is one of the few Lebanese authors who has bridged the East and the West and is justifiably considered a citizen of the world. His book of highly estimated prose poems, The Prophet is one of the most widely read books of the 20th century. It reveals Gibran’s philosophy about different aspects of life, mainly the precept in the Gospel of Matthew about the importance of the human sense of mutuality which summarizes a Christian’s duty towards his/her neighbor and states a fundamental ethical principle. In addition to this golden rule, The Prophet reflects Gibran’s beliefs in Christianity. Being a true mirror of the Sufi mysticism of Islam, it also shows his idealistic opinion on pantheism. From this perspective, the research will focus on the combination of his beliefs in Christianity, Islam, and pantheism in The Prophet, as well as his firm conviction in creating the united and unique structure of a Christian-Muslim synthesis which he deeply adhered to.

The conventional fuzzy c-spherical shells (FCSS) clustering model is extended to cluster shells involving non-crisp numbers, in this paper. This is achieved by a vectorized representation of distance, between two non-crisp numbers like the crisp numbers case. Using the proposed clustering method, named vector fuzzy c-spherical shells (VFCSS), all crisp and non-crisp numbers can be clustered by the FCSS algorithm in a unique structure. Therefore, we can implement FCSS clustering over various types of numbers in a unique structure with only a few alterations in the details used in implementing each case. The relations of VFCSS applied to crisp and non-crisp (containing symbolic-interval, LR-type, TFN-type and TAN-type fuzzy) numbers are presented in this paper. Finally, simulation results are reported for VFCSS applied to synthetic LR-type fuzzy numbers; where the application of the proposed method in real life and in geomorphology science is illustrated by extracting the radii of circular agricultural fields using remotely sensed images and the results show better performance and lower cost computational complexity of the proposed method in comparison to conventional FCSS.

This research focuses on a three-dimensional jacquard spacer fabric, which has two sets of jacquard yarn systems to form double-appearance patterns. Because of the unique structure and formation characteristics, a specific computerized patterning model needs to be solved for efficient jacquard structure design. After a systematic analysis of double-needle bed knitting and the piezo-jacquard principle, a loop index is proposed to coordinate jacquard loops and define the single-loop-based jacquard bitmap. Also, an algorithm is derived to solve offset data to guide the knitting action by inferring the jacquard bitmap and the corresponding loops hypotaxis. This new patterning method is proposed based on two basic elements of the jacquard bitmap and lapping data. In comparison with the traditional two-course bitmap method, the new approach shows the advantage of more simplified operations by a significant decrease of jacquard color definitions.

Summary Two new species of philometrid nematodes (Philometridae), Barracudia notabilis n. sp. and Philometra consimilis n. sp., are described from males found in the ovary of the hound needlefish Tylosurus crocodilus (Péron et Lesueur) (Belonidae) from off the Atlantic coast of Florida, USA. Both species are described and illustrated based on light and scanning electron microscopical examinations. Barracudia notabilis n. sp., the first representative of this genus from fishes in the Atlantic Ocean, can be differentiated from other congeners by the body length of the male (2.69 mm), the length of the gubernaculum (57 μm) and spicules (81 μm), and by the shape of the gubernaculum. Philometra consimilis n. sp. differs from all congeners mainly in the unique structure of the distal tip of the gubernaculum (bearing two smooth dorsal barbs) and the species is also characterized by the length of spicules (111 μm) and the length of the gubernaculum (84 μm). Further studies are needed to discover and describe so far unknown gravid females of Barracudia spp.

: Modern protein science is broadening horizons by moving toward the systemic description of proteins in their natural habitats. This implies a transition from a classical reductionist approach associated with consideration of the unique structure and specific biological activity of an individual protein in a purified form to studying entire proteomes and their functions. This mini-review provides a brief description of structural, functional, and expression proteomics, the dark proteome (or unfoldome), and some of the tools utilized in the analyses of proteomes.
