In this paper, a system of searching for optimal paths is developed and concreted on a FPGA. It is based on a memristive emulator, used as a delay element, by configuring the test graph as a memristor network. A parallel algorithm is applied to reduce computing time and increase efficiency. The operation of the algorithm in Matlab is checked beforehand and then exported to two different Intel FPGAs: a DE0-Nano board and an Arria 10 GX 220 FPGA. In both cases reliable results are obtained quickly and conveniently, even for the case of a 300x300 nodes maze.

Introduction. The increase in the number of patients with joint and hip diseases is an actual problem in the clinical medicine. Objective: to improve outcomes of the combined surgical treatment of patients with deep periprosthetic infection (PPI) by developing and improving surgical techniques using spacers and laser technologies.Material and methods. Thirty-five patients with suppurated large joints as a complication after their replacement were examined and treated. In 9 (25.7 %) patients, PPI developed within 3–12 months after the primary arthroplasty. Twenty (57.1 %) patients developed PPI within 1–2 years after the surgery. In 4 (11.4 %) cases, suppuration in the endoprosthetic area developed in 2–3 years, and in 2 (5.7 %) patients – in 3–3.5 years. The age of the patients was 47–70 years. The main group consisted of 20 patients, the control group – of 15 patients. Patients from the main group had laser photodynamic therapy (PDT) session after the removal of endoprosthetic elements and devitalized tissues.Results. Patients from the main group had uneventful postoperative course – less pain syndrome, rapid resolution of the infl ammatory process, wound healing by the primary tension.Conclusion. Application of a new intraoperative PDT technique, developed by the authors, promotes rapid resolution of purulent-infl ammatory process and better healing of postoperative wounds by primary tension.

Introduction: The spread of Covid-19 has worsened the prognosis of oncology patients, interrupting or delaying life-saving therapies and contextually increasing the risk of severe SARS-CoV-2 infections. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most frequent cancer in pediatric age and the management of this disease with concomitant SARS-COV-2 infection represents a challenging situation.Case presentation: We present the case of a 6-year-old female newly diagnosed with ALL during a documented SARS-CoV-2 infection. Our patient was admitted 20 days after SARS-CoV-2 detection for evening-rise fever. Laboratory testing showed severe neutropenia while chest x-ray detected moderate pulmonary involvement. Acute lymphoblastic leukemia diagnosis was made through morphological and molecular analysis on bone marrow aspirate. Given the stability of the blood count and clinical conditions, antiviral therapy with Remdesivir and Convalescent Plasma was started before antileukemic treatment, obtaining a rapid resolution of the infection. Conclusion: In our experience, the treatment with Remdesivir and Convalescent Plasma led to a rapid resolution of Sars-Cov-2 infection. Our case did not present any adverse event to the therapy. Thus, this treatment could be considered in patients with malignancies, in order to accelerate the resolution of the infection and begin immunosuppressive treatment safely. Further studies are required to confirm this hypothesis.

A 64-year-old man presented with reduced vision in the right eye (visual acuity of 6/24 Snellen). The patient reported having a chronic cough and recent weight loss with difficulty in swallowing and abnormal liver function test 8 months prior to his presentation. He was a chronic smoker for 45 years, having quit a year earlier. Fundus examination showed a unifocal large yellow–brown subretinal mass involving the posterior segment of the eye and associated with subretinal fluid. The patient was diagnosed with a choroidal metastasis and was referred urgently to the oncology team who confirmed the presence of non-small cell lung cancer with distant metastases. He started treatment with alectinib (second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor). A few weeks later, his vision improved and, on examination, there was complete resolution of the choroidal mass and the associated subretinal fluid. Alectinib led to rapid resolution of his choroidal secondary and has excellent ocular safety profile.
