The future of the composites market looks attractive with opportunities in the transportation, construction, wind energy, pipe - tank, marine, consumer goods, electrical and electronics, aerospace, and others. The composite materials market is expected to reach an estimated $40.2 billion by 2024 and it is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 3.3% from 2019 to 2024. The composite materials that have started to be used in the production of tourist boats, especially those of the yacht type, have proved in practice the designers' expectations for the great advantages they have brought compared to steel. The performance of the new generation ships of this millennium, will require the ever-increasing use of new and innovative materials, to meet the also growing demands of potential buyers of these vehicles. On the other hand, based on the already sanctioned principles of the European Community for the observance of the norms set for CO2 emissions from maritime transport - (Green shipping) in respect of the Kyoto Protocol on Climate Change, it becomes more necessary to produce marine vehicles that significantly reduce the weight of marine vessels, consequently engine power and fuel consumption by significantly reducing CO2 emissions. This study aims to bring a specific analysis of the impact of composite materials to the CO2 emission’s reduction.

Modern marine vessels use electrically driven rudders; cruise liners, gas carriers, tankers are equipped with Azipod systems manufactured by the Swedish-Swiss company ABB. Gondola-type propellers make it possible to break ice when the vessel is moving astern, therefore such vessels are used for work on the Northern Sea Route, in particular, when working on the Yamal LNG project. The 22MW Azipod propulsion system rotates 360° and enables difficult maneuvering without the assistance of tugs. When operating such propellers, powerful diesel generators are installed on the ship. For the transmission of electricity, ship cables are used, which are subject to increased requirements that meet the standard of the International Electrotechnical Commission. Modern marine vessels are equipped with XLPE or EPDM insulated cable lines; industrial production of these cables is carried out in the Russian Federation. In the course of the study, a method for auditing the state of insulation has been considered based on an assessment of the change in the tangent of the angle of dielectric losses in the process of thermal aging of the cable of the PvBPng(A)-HF brand. Measurements of the tangent of the dielectric losses' angle have been carried out with a Tangens-2000 insulation parameter meter.

Previously, the Variable DC approach concept was proposed for operation of hybrid fuel cell and battery powered marine vessels. The concept was shown to provide significant efficiency improvement, and consequently improved hydrogen fuel savings. However, although the general concept and the control of battery DC/DC converter has been detailly described in previous works, the operation of fuel cell DC/DC converter in different Variable DC approach control modes has not been presented. This paper proposes a fuel cell DC/DC converter control system specifically designed for operation in the three Variable DC approach control modes. The functionality of the proposed fuel cell DC/DC converter and the Variable DC approach in general is verified using a hardware-in-loop test setup consisting of virtual power stage models and real converter controllers. The system is shown to function well in both normal operating conditions and various fault conditions.

The article provides information on a new type of marine vessels aimed at artificial fish farming in the sea, the construction of which is underway in a number of states. The operation of such vessels can be a huge breakthrough in the development of mariculture. The author proposed to call it “marine fish farming vessels”. The legal status of such vessels in accordance with the current international law are analyzed. The legal aspects of the use of marine fish farming vessels in the World Ocean are considered. Possible legal problems associated with the absence in Russian legislation of provisions on the status and activities of marine fish farming vessels in the Russian Federation are assessed.

На современном этапе развития интеллектуальных морских технологий необходимо включить в состав видеосистемы обработки изображений две подсистемы передачи видеоинформации морских сюжетов. Во первых на основе спектрального преобразования сигналов из пространственной области в частотную для оперативной доставки видеоинформации, полученной с различных камер подводного и надводного наблюдения. Во вторых, на основе пространственных методов обработки, без перехода в спектральную область сигнала для передачи выделенных ключевых точек объектов на изображениях. При этом важнейшая особенность этих подсистем заключается в улучшении информационных показателей качества морских видеосистем автоматизированной обработкой видеоинформации: точность визуальных данных, битовая скорость передачи по каналам связи и вычислительная сложность алгоритмов анализа и передачи видеоинформации. В предлагаемом исследовании приводятся алгоритмы спектральной и пространственной обработки видеоинформации, проведена оценка эффективности алгоритмов обработки изображений. А также отражены результаты моделирования алгоритмов и сравнительная оценка информационных показателей интеллектуальных морских видеосистем: точность, битовая скорость и вычислительная сложность видеосистем обработки морских изображений. At the present stage of the development of intelligent marine technologies, it is necessary to include two subsystems for the transmission of video information of marine scenes in the video image processing system: 1) based on the spectral conversion of signals from the spatial domain to the frequency domain for the rapid delivery of video information obtained from various underwater and surface surveillance cameras; 2) based on spatial processing methods without switching to the spectral domain of the signal to transmit selected key points of objects in the images. At the same time, the most important feature of these subsystems is to improve the information quality indicators of marine video systems by automated processing of video information: the accuracy of visual data, the bit rate of transmission over communication channels and the computational complexity of algorithms for analyzing and transmitting video information. The proposed study provides algorithms for spectral and spatial processing of video information. The results of algorithm modeling and comparative evaluation of information indicators of intelligent marine video systems are also presented: accuracy, bit rate and computational complexity of marine image processing video systems.

This work aims to develop an autonomous system for the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to land on a moving platform such as the automobile or marine vessels, providing a promising solution for a long-endurance flight operation, a large mission coverage range, and a convenient recharging ground station. Different from most state-of-the-art UAV landing frameworks which rely on UAV’s onboard computers and sensors, the proposed system fully depends on the computation unit situated on the ground vehicle/marine vessel to serve as a landing guidance system. Such novel configuration can therefore lighten the burden of the UAV and computation power on the ground vehicle/marine vessel could be enhanced. In particular, we exploit a sensor fusion-based algorithm for the guidance system to perform UAV localization, whilst a control method based upon trajectory optimization is integrated. Indoor and outdoor experiments are conducted and the result shows that a precise autonomous landing on a 43 X 43 cm platform could be performed.

Surface frictional drag developed by marine vessels utilizes a considerable percentage of fuel for propulsion. Superhydrophobic (SH) surface normally traps a layer of air at the interface and significantly reduces the surface frictional drag. Herein, the efficacy of the SH coating towards the surface drag reduction of the sailing boat is recognized by conducting a facile experiment where the bottom of the toy boat is coated with SH additives. AlNiCo nanoparticles and nickel stearate prepared by ball-milling and co-precipitation methods respectively are drop-casted layer by layer over the surface of the toy boat to impart SH. The fuel efficiency of the SH boat is improved by 51.49% substantiating the reduction in surface drag of the vessel. Further, the trapped air provides extra buoyancy force, enhancing the load-bearing capability of the SH boat by 5.77%.

The sea is of paramount importance in the life of man and peoples. Since ancient times, it has represented a tool for communication between nations, a link for civilizational meeting between them, and a source of sustenance. Man’s need and interest in exploiting this wealth moves his curiosity and ambitions to think and search for means that contribute and help in expanding the scope of maritime exploitation and consolidating relations between countries more and more. The maritime field was among the important areas touched by industrial and technological development, especially in the field of maritime transport, which led to the emergence of giant ships capable of embarking on sea voyages and thus moving foreign trade in a positive way. The aim of the research is to know the extent to which ship hull insurance is related to the liquidity and profitability of the National Insurance Company, and where the main research problem is manifested in the extent to which ship hull insurance is linked to the liquidity and profitability of the National Insurance Company. Only the research relied on the questionnaire as a tool for all data and information from the sample of 64 and those who have responsibility are (General Director, Department Director, Division Officer, Unit Officer) and the statistical program was used spss 21 in the calculation standard deviation, simple linear regression, testF ) R² (. The conclusions reached by the research are the evaluation of the degree of risk surrounding the ship and the evaluation of the degree of classification in the classification record is based on which the insurance price for the structures of marine vessels is determined, which shows that the degree of risk varies up and down according to the type of ship, origin, shipping lines, and the experience of the crew and the master. The results of the study also showed the existence of a strong correlation between the liquidity variable and profitability in the respondents' response to the research sample in the National Insurance Company, as there is no profitability without the presence of liquidity and good liquidity expresses the company's ability to meet the payment of its obligations. (*) An extracted thesis, which is part of the requirements for obtaining a higher diploma equivalent to a master’s degree. There are also a number of recommendations, including; Adoption of a unified plan for all insurance branches. To measure the liquidity risk in order to ensure that the company is protected from bankruptcy or its exit from the insurance market in the event of a financial crisis again.
