Indonesia is a country with unique tourist destinations from each region. The tourism sector has an impact on the Indonesian economy which can encourage economic growth and increase the country's foreign exchange from foreign tourist visits. Tourism growth in Indonesia was disrupted due to the Covid-19 pandemic with the imposition of major social restrictions which resulted in a decrease in tourist visits and the paralysis of the tourism sector. Based on the problems described above, the authors are interested in conducting research in order to classify data on foreign tourist arrivals based on the entrance of foreign tourist arrivals. This research uses data mining method and K-Means Algorithm to form 5 clusters. The 5 clusters are divided into groups of tourist entrances which are categorized as very high (C1), high (C2), moderate (C3), low (C4) and very low (C5). In forming the 5 clusters, the researchers used Ms. Excel and Rapidminer 10.1 to process data. The results of this study obtained that the tourist entrance group was categorized as very high (C1) with 1 data, high (C2) with 1 data, moderate (C3) with 1 data, low (C4) with 1 data and very low (C5). ) that is with 21 data. This study aims to provide suggestions and future considerations to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenparekraf) to carry out policies so that the Indonesian tourism sector can return to normal.

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has its own charm in the world of tourism and is known as a pioneer of halal tourism. In addition to domestic tourists, NTB tourism always has an attraction for foreign tourists. This is evidenced by the increasing number of foreign tourists visiting NTB from year to year before the Covid-19 pandemic. This condition certainly has a positive impact on increasing NTB’s economic growth in the tourism sector and indirectly on the optimization of existing infrastructure. The purpose of the study is to predict the number of  foreign tourist visits to NTB so that it can assist the government in making decisions in preparing adequate facilities and infrastructure in the event of a surge in tourist visits. The method used in this study is the Box-Jenkins-ARIMA model. The ARIMA method is based on 3 models that are formed from the results of plot data. The data used in this study is secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), from January 2010 to June 2019. The results show that the ARIMA (4,1,1) model is the most widely used model. This model is suitable for predicting the number of foreign tourists visiting NTB because this model produces the lowest SSE and MSE values compared to other models.

This research aims to analyze the effect of exchange rates on foreign tourist flows in ASEAN-3. A fixed-effect model is used to estimate data from three ASEAN countries, namely: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand from 1995 to 2016. The result shows that the exchange rate has a significant positive effect on foreign tourist flow. In other words, the depreciation of domestic currency increasing foreign tourist flow. Other control variables such as income per capita, HIV prevalence, trade, and consumer price index significantly affect a different sign.

Indonesia's tourism potential can be used as the main driver of the Indonesian economy. This study aims to analyze the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector and analyze the factors that influence the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative analysis method and static panel model analysis. The type of data used in this study is secondary data, including annual time series data for five years, from 2010 to 2014. It also includes cross-section data from nine countries that are the main visitors to the Indonesian tourism sector, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, UK, and the USA. The development and growth of the performance of the Indonesian tourism sector increased in the period 2010 to 2014. The number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia is influenced by the variables of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of the country of origin, economic distance, relative prices, and security dummy which have a significant effect on the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, while the exchange rate and dummy travel warning variables have no significant effect. Therefore, the government needs to maintain the stability of the exchange rate and inflation rate as well as the coordination of related parties and institutions in maintaining political, economic, social stability and increasing the promotion of Indonesian tourism to foreign countries.

The emergence of the COVID-19 outbreak in Malaysia last year has caused the tourism industry to be squeezed with various challenges. Based on current statistics for 2019 which recorded an increase in foreign tourist arrival of 2.7 percent, with an increase of 6.8 percent over the previous year. However, the national tourism sector experienced a severe decline in the percentage of foreign tourist arrivals due to the outbreak of COVID-19. The COVID-19 crisis is a new crisis that has hit the hotel industry around the world, including Malaysia. The gloom of the tourism industry also effects the number of visitors and tourists staying at the hotel. This is because Malaysia is one of the tourisms led countries where the hotel industry is a major contributor to the overall GDP of the country’s economy. This has resulted in many hotels in Malaysia being forced to close temporarily or wind up. For the record, a total of 109 hotels had to close in 2020. Based on data from the Malaysian Hotel Association in 2020, a total of 542 people equivalent to 3 percent of workers were laid off, while 20 percent (3,641) were asked to take unpaid leave and a total of (2,880), 16 percent had faced pay cuts. On the part of the hotel management, salary cuts, termination of rewards and layoffs are some of the drastic actions that have to be taken to ensure business continuity. However, this approach is seen as unfair for hotel workers. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the relationship of job security towards intention to quit during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data of the study involved respondents from the state of Kedah. The population for this study was 1,230 employees working in 40 hotels in Kedah. The target of the population, 291 employees were identified through cluster sampling. In addition, the data of this study was collected using a distributed questionnaire while for the data analysis process using Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS). The results from the analysis found that job security had not a significant relationship with the intention to quit.

Tourism is a prima donna sector that significantly contributes to the people’s economy and Indonesia’s state income. Foreign tourist visits to Indonesia rank fourth in ASEAN, contributing to a GDP of 4.25% (Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia, 2020). In 2019, the number of Muslims was 39.8 million, which is the majority, so tourism in East Java is significant to revitalize the concept of “halal tourism”, including for Ponorogo Regency. At this opportunity, the study concentrated on tourism objects in the Ponorogo Regency using the PESTLE method (political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental) to identify aspects that can meet the requirements of halal tourism. In general, this is a way of expanding and encouraging East Java Province to become an area capable of implementing halal tourism throughout its Regency by meeting specific criteria set by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia. The weaknesses and limitations of the study have become a symbol of concern for future improvement. The concept of “halal tourism” is interpreted more broadly in various aspects, not only limited to religious tourism, pilgrimage, or visiting places of worship, but is applied to tourism objects that focus on the sharia process through various aspects. “halal tourism” has excellent potential to be realized, one of which is in Ponorogo Regency.
