This study aims at optimizing lead time through effective management of resources in an equipment manufacturing industry to ensure timely completion of the projects. The concept of “project crashing” was implemented to identify potential activities at production line of conventional two-roller machines. The developed model is optimized using modified Genetic Algorithm (GA). The results showed that the proposed model enabled to deliver products as per schedule without increasing planned cost. Sensitivity analyses were also conducted to find out the impact of various process parameters. From analyses, it was found that the proposed model facilitate the manufacturer in delivering the products at specified time with increasing the planned cost.

U.S. manufacturing has been in decline for the last forty years, bringing real economic impact. This paper examines the Southern region experience. Variation in rate of decline and industry evolution are shown across states. The important transportation equipment manufacturing industry is explored in more detail. The overall takeaway is that manufacturing looks different across the Southeast.

In order to study the coupling coordination relationship, the equipment manufacturing industry has been taken as the example to develop the evaluation index system of producer services and equipment manufacturing industry through employing the entropy weighting method. The relationship between them has been verified in the whole country. The research results show that there is a symbiotic relationship between the producer services and the equipment manufacturing industry. Both of them are mutually promoted and symbiotically developed. The unbalanced economic development in all regions of China is dominated by the synergy degree difference of both sides, which provides the guidance for the regional economic development in our country.

Servitization has a significant impact on the upgrading and reform of the equipment manufacturing industry. From the perspective of application of high-end servitization theory in business practice of equipment manufacturing industry, based on the review of relevant literature, this paper analyzes the concept of integration delay strategy mechanism of cooperative production between enterprises and customers, and thus constructs the theoretical model framework of 4S service pilot high-end equipment manufacturing product-customer interaction experience. With the Liaoning equipment manufacturing industry as a case for quantitative analysis, the feasibility of using delay strategy in the 4S service pilot program is demonstrated, and the three-stage development plan of Liaoning 4S service pilot is outlined. The results show that: At present, in the trend of servitization of China’s equipment manufacturing enterprises, 4S service pilot high-end manufacturing product model enables equipment manufacturing enterprises to delay production time and produce according to customer orders, improve service efficiency and optimize resource allocation, and help enterprises to obtain new exclusive competitive advantages.

This paper analyzes the agglomeration level and agglomeration effect of 8 subindustries of equipment manufacturing industry and 26 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD). From the perspective of industry, the agglomeration change trend of 8 subsectors of equipment manufacturing industry from 2006 to 2016 in the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration (YRDUA) is analyzed. From the perspective of cities, the spatial differences of equipment manufacturing agglomeration degree in 26 prefecture-level cities in the YRDUA are discussed. By using CES production function, the agglomeration effect of equipment manufacturing agglomeration is studied. The results show that the YRDUA has formed an agglomeration pattern of equipment manufacturing industry, with Shanghai as the core, and Hefei, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Nanjing as the auxiliary cities, and the overall agglomeration effect in the region is relatively obvious.

Abstract As the pillar industry in China's post-industrial era, the equipment manufacturing industry has played an important role of providing technical equipment for downstream industries, which also brought about a substantial increase in CO2 emissions. Therefore, in order to find ways to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of the equipment manufacturing industry, this paper based on the global value chain production length decomposition model, improved the CO2 emission effect model and the STIRPAT model to study the different impact of the GVC production length on the CO2 emissions of China's equipment manufacturing industry under different GVC participation modes. The study found that extending GVC production length can effectively reduce CO2 emissions, and the CO2 reduction effect of the simple GVC production length is the most significant. Besides, with the extension of the GVC production length, the CO2 emissions of high-tech industries have decreased, while the CO2 emissions of medium-technology industries have increased. In addition, the improvements of policy regulations, factor structure and foreign investment will also reduce CO2 emissions, but the expansion of production scale and R&D investment will increase CO2 emissions.
