In the 2019–20 academic year, I redesigned a course on the classics to make both the texts and the context in which they were taught more accessible for and relevant to the predominantly female students of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame. The course was re-centered on the dialogue between the ever-evolving and diverse cultures within Greece and the Roman empire and surrounding regions such as Egypt, Ethiopia, and Persia; issues caused by slavery and economic inequality; conceptions of gender roles and sexuality, race and ethnicity, and migration and citizenship; the troubling appropriation of classical motifs and texts by fascist groups in the twentieth century and some alt-right groups and sexual predators in the twenty-first century; and on recent initiatives meant to demonstrate the diversity of both Greek and Roman cultures through documentary, artistic, and archaeological evidence (particularly in the digital humanities and in museums and libraries).  I also wanted to make the course close to zero cost for students and to shift to digital texts which lent themselves to interactivity and social scholarship. Our librarian, Catherine Pellegrino, obtained multi-user e-books for modern reinterpretations of classical works still in copyright. A LibreTexts grant enabled the co-authors of this article—the course instructor (and lead author) and two paid student researchers—and a team of summer-employed student collaborators to edit, footnote, and create critical introductions and student activities for various key texts for the course. Many of these texts are now hosted on the LibreTexts OER platform.  Beta versions of enriched OER texts and activities were user tested in a synchronous hybrid virtual/physical classroom of twenty-five students, who were taking the course (HUST 292) in the fall semester of 2020.

One of the reasons for the low learning outcomes of students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is that the learning model used by the teacher is not appropriate, the teacher carries out learning with a conventional one-way model, only transferring information from the teacher to students. Such a strategy makes students quickly bored and boring. Therefore, teachers need to apply appropriate learning models to be able to stimulate students to learn actively, creatively and innovatively, so as to improve their learning outcomes. This study was designed to conduct research on the use of discovery learning models in improving student learning outcomes on the material "Faith in Allah SWT". The research subjects were seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Lhokseumawe with 32 students. The results show that the application of the discovery learning model can stimulate the learning process in the classroom, where students can contribute actively, critically, and innovatively, so that PAI learning outcomes can increase. It can be seen from the implementation of the first cycle that there has been an increase in learning outcomes compared to the pre-cycle results, because the scores in the first cycle obtained 12 people >70 (according to the KKM) with a percentage of 35.29%. Furthermore, the results of observer observations on teacher activities in the first cycle reached 81.72% and observer observations on student activities reached 80.76%. While the implementation of the second cycle experienced a significant increase, namely 32 students completed with a percentage of 94.11%, with observations on teacher activities reaching 95.19% and observations on student activities reaching 96.15%.

Getting proper education is the right of every citizen, both normal students and students with special needs (disabilities). In this case, the tools and learning media needed are very important to support teaching and learning activities. However, there are more learning tools and media available for normal students than students with special needs. The results of the observations that the author saw in SLB Rejang Lebong were still lacking in learning tools in special schools, especially learning tools for counting, especially blind children. Thus encouraging the author to be able to create a learning aid, especially in numeracy skills for children with disabilities, especially blind children in SLB Rejang Lebong Bengkulu. Starting from the problem above, the writer tries to deal with this problem by creating learning media, especially for blind children, namely "Braile Baper" which is simultaneously used as a research on the principle of usefulness of the tool in SLB Rejang Lebong which is a tool used. to practice multiplication counting skills in a simple and fast and not boring way so that it is expected to be useful to help improve understanding of blind children in learning media for numeracy skills in mathematics, especially in arithmetic operations material. The results of the application of the Braille Baper learning media that the student activities observed during the learning process were good, seen in the student activity observation sheets as well as interviews with students applying the Braille Baper learning media were responded positively and effectively applied in learning, especially for blind children.
