The activity of evaluation and verification of industrial ventilation installations has a strong preventive role in terms of explosion risk mainly due to the fact that of the three determining elements that can lead to an explosion phenomenon, ventilation installations can determine the presence of two elements namely the presence of fuel (gases, vapours, dusts, mists) and the source of initiation (hot surface, flame, sparks of mechanical origin, electrical sparks, static electricity, etc.). The development of experimental systems on„ which particular hazardous aspects that may occur during the operation of industrial ventilation systems can be studied are vital to avoid dangerous situations in the current operation of ventilation installations. Knowledge of the dynamics of formation of explosive / toxic / asphyxiating environments is achieved by analysing explosive mixtures in relation to specific explosive intervals and is one of the most important priorities in ensuring optimal health and safety at work in industrial activities. The information obtained by analysing the dynamics of the formation of explosive / toxic / asphyxiating atmospheres is extremely useful for personnel responsible for health and safety at work, because with their help relevant decisions can be made to ensure safety and health conditions at the level of industrial premises. The paper presents an experimental equipment usable for the study of industrial ventilation systems.

In most industrial processes, toxic pollutants and vapors are produced and released, which cause various diseases in people working in industry and irreparable damage to the environment. Industrial ventilation systems are considered as one of the most effective methods of reducing and controlling gaseous pollutants and dust particles. One of the effective systems in industrial ventilation is blowing -suction ventilation systems. In this study, the effect of flow ratio (ratio of blowing flow to suction flow) and direction of blowing jet air on the performance of blowing-suction ventilation system was investigated numerically. The mixing parameter has been used as an indicator to measure the performance of the ventilation system. The results showed that the performance of the ventilation system blowing-sucking by reducing the current ratio improved exponentially. It was also found that one of the ways to improve the performance of the blowing – suction ventilation system is to reduce the direction of the blowing angle.

Air flow in ducts is one of the basic processes of ventilation and air conditioning. Knowledge of this phenomenon and the laws according to it is indispensable for drawing up the sizing calculations of the duct networks, for determining the energy needed to move the air as well as for determining the aerodynamic parameters related to the ventilation ducts. Industrial buildings include large spaces with various sources of releases of harmful substances. Type of these sources and their location depends on the technological process in each section or room. The main role of industrial ventilation systems is to provide a continuous source of fresh air supply from the outside, to keep the temperature and humidity at comfortable levels, to maintain an adequate supply of oxygen in the work area, to control concentrations of hazardous explosive and / or toxic gases in the air and at work, to remove unwanted odors from a particular area and to remove and dilute airborne contaminants. The paper presents the design of exhaust systems, the calculation of suction ventilation systems and the choice of ducts with higher aerodynamic parameters in the choice of fans, using nomograms.
