This study aims to describe the ethics of implementing online-based counseling using media and technology during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research method uses literature review by collecting reading materials from various sources with readings, comparing theories and research results regarding the use of technology media in the implementation of counseling, which are then analyzed descriptively. The result of this literature review is that the implementation of guidance and counseling using media and technology provides advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are related to the convenience obtained by BK / Counselor teachers in pre, implementation and post implementation of BK activities related to administration or guidance and counseling services. While the disadvantages are regarding public trust regarding the competence of implementing online counseling and the limitations of the media in its implementation, so that the maximum application of ethics in the implementation of online counseling is needed in order to anticipate the losses incurred.

Using literature in multilingual and second language classes promotes literacy skills and helps children to adapt to second language instruction. This chapter presents the theoretical framework and practical implementations for enhancing the use of literature in multilingual environments employing Stories Make Readers (StoRe)–project as an example. StoRe concept helps to promote the use of fictional literature and to increase the reading materials and reading time at school and at home. An important aim is to offer, in multilingual groups, reading materials that correspond to the reading abilities and interest of the readers, and to connect different collaborative, child-centered, and multidisciplinary activities in reading. The multilingual line of the StoRe project, called Creating Innovative Approaches to Language Education (IKI), identifies and promotes innovative models for the use and development of language in education and creates research-based, pedagogical maps that help teachers develop and improve their pedagogical practices.

Libraries provide services for anyone, regardless of their social or economic interests, so that they have a non-discriminatory nature in providing good services in the library. Rural library into the container provision of reading materials as a source of education and community empowerment. Facing COVID-19 is not easy. It becomes a challenge for community to stay active and productive. Social inclusion has been introduced in many public libraries in Indonesia. Through this social inclusion, the library wants to further improve the welfare of community, especially in the rural areas. This chapter discusses the conceptualization of information for development which accommodates the concepts of advancement of literacy and development information for the community. The purpose of this service is to be able to provide services to rural communities so that it is easier to access information.

The arrival of refugees and asylum seekers to Malaysia from several countries to get protection from persecution had urged Malaysia to provide a proper protection to these people as our government had decided to let the refugees stay in Malaysia on humanitarian basis. This study focuses on the history of refugees and asylum seekers arrival to Malaysia and the development of legislation that governs them. The study uses qualitative method, where it is done through reading materials from library such as books, journals, articles and newspapers.  It mainly were designed based on historical type of qualitative research design. The purpose of this study is to find out problems of refugees in Malaysia and the need to design a proper and solid legislation for them so that they, while staying in Malaysia are humanely treated and not violated in any way, shape or form. This paper provides an extensive literature review on refugees and asylum seekers’ all around the world. The findings indicate that there is a lot of issues and problems regarding refugees which don’t only affects them individually but also indirectly affects Malaysian economy and increases domestic violence in Malaysia. The significant role or the involvement of UNHCR agencies and the reports from their experts were taken into account for a more thorough analysis on refugee status and problems in Malaysia. Finally, the study concludes with a discussion on the need to first identify the legal status of refugees in Malaysia and the urgency to design a solid legal framework to the refugees located in Malaysia before they are either integrated, repatriated or resettled to the third country as stated in the long term solution for refugees.

Abstract. Education in Indonesia, as the large-scale power of the has to be compelled the continuity of teaching activities during the COVID-19 pandemic online learning. It inspires teachers to choose a suitable material to fulfill students’ needs and interests in teaching language. The appropriateness and well chosen authentic materials used by teachers in a context of reading have to cover meaningful content in which those are relevant. Thus, this study attempts to investigate those authenticity used as well as teachers’ challenges in implementing online authentic reading materials in online reading class of higher education. The study is a qualitative. The subjects are three EFL teachers of higher education that teach General English and English for Specific Purposes freshmen for two semesters. The data collection techniques are observation and interview. In analyzing the data, this study uses Ary et al. (2010) theory: familiarizing and organizing; coding and reduction; interpreting and representing. The findings revealed that authenticity is considered as the pivotal thing since, in this case, English is taught as foreign language. The authentic materials can be said its prevalence by measuring each authenticity based on three areas including SLA (Second Language Acquisition), language pedagogy and ICT (Information and Communication Technology). It could establish the applied authenticity to the language learning design materials, especially learning English language. Moreover, The challenge was about the materials, students’ interests, classroom activities and classroom interaction occurred among teachers and the students.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has forced the teachers and students to hold the teaching and learning remotely. All the process of learning was conducted online via various mobile applications. Students widely use smartphones as a medium to receive learning materials, join online classes, and study. However, it was questioned whether students are engaged with their reading materials when they have to read the texts on screen or digitally and learn from them. It is expected that the use of digital devices has influenced students' reading engagement, especially when the reading is to learn. This study aims to find out about the students' engagement in reading digital texts during online learning. The study collects the data from self-report questionnaires, interviews, and observation. The result shows that students do not experience behavioral and affective engagement as well as a negative response while they are reading the texts onscreen during online learning.

Abstract: This article discusses the implementation of Islamic criminal justice in Indonesia, especially in the Province of Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam and the Arab Republic of Egypt. Between Egypt and Indonesia have the same reference in the implementation of Islamic law in the judiciary, namely referring to the Qur'an and Hadith. The Aceh Syar'iyah Court has a position as part of a special judicial institution under the auspices of the general court and the religious court according to the type of case being handled. Meanwhile, the Court in Egypt has a wider scope with each function and authority according to its level. The research method used in the preparation of this article is a comparative study by comparing the similarities and differences inherent in Indonesia and Egypt in terms of the implementation of Islamic law which is studied through reading materials, including books, laws and regulations, and various other related sources. This study aims to determine the application of a scientific approach in PAI learning for class X during the covid 19 pandemic. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research by choosing a location at SMAN 1 Kuripan Dusun Tegal, Jagaraga Village, Kec. Kuripan, Kab. West Lombok. Sources of data in this study were PAI teachers and students of class X, the principal and the Deputy Head of Curriculum. The data collection method used is the method of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the application of a scientific approach to PAI learning in class X during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMAN 1 Kuripan used online and offline learning processes. In its implementation, through the first several stages, the teacher sends material in the form of videos or reading materials related to the material through WhatsAPP, then students observe the material. Second, ask about material that has not been understood either through Chat WA/Voice Chat. Third, associating/reasoning students are given tasks related to the material. Fourth, students present the assignment via WhatsApp. Fifth, students draw conclusions from the results of the presentation. The implementation of learning using a scientific approach in PAI learning during the COVID-19 pandemic has been carried out even though it has not been maximized. The obstacles in the application of the scientific approach include the lack of student activity in the learning process, and limited facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract. Distance education has been offered for years, but the integration of technological developments and opportunities into education has recently increased its popularity and event it became an indispensable method during the Covid-19 pandemic period. In distance education, accessing all class materials such as lecture presentations, class notes, reading materials, videos, live chats or class hours, and archive records allow students (participants) to learn without being in the same environments with teachers or learners. Technology has made vast contributions to the field of education. For instance, 3D as a teaching tool for the class attracts students’ attention, makes the learning process more enjoyable, and increases participation. In particular, for the disciplines, such as forestry, earth, and environmental sciences, which require laboratory exercises, field observation, field trips, and in-situ measurements, 3D modeling has provided many benefits in distance education. It enables 3D demonstration of the individual tree species to develop a virtual field laboratory. This study focused on the data sources and techniques to generate a 3D model of the individual tree species that forestry students used for distance education. The capabilities of the method in the generation of 3D models were evaluated by using UAV-based SfM photogrammetry. The results indicated that implementing 3D images of individual tree species can be a promising method that may increase the interest, interaction and satisfaction of the students in distance education in forestry.

Abstract This study aims to explain the religious paradigm of lecturers in Islamic religious education at Tirtayasa University, Banten, using a qualitative approach. The research was conducted from April to June 2021. Data collection techniques used interviews, and content analysis. The informants involved were all lecturers of Islamic religious education. This study found that there were variations in religious paradigms, educational background and scientific interests, access to sources and reading materials, as well as religious styles adopted. The book used contains an acute problem related to the problem of religious moderation. The discussion on the themes of monotheism and Islamic theology has a significant difference with the general attitude of the people of Banten and its surroundings. An important implication of the results of this study is that several themes on history, Islamic social and political thought, as well as the science of monotheism and the science of kalam need to be reviewed, enriched by references, and further enrich the sources of religious thought.   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan paradigma keagamaan dosen mata kuliah pendidikan agama Islam pada Universitas Tirtayasa Banten, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan April hingga Juni tahun 2021. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, dan konten analisis. Informan yang terlibat adalah seluruh dosen pendidikan agama Islam. Penelitian ini menemukan adanya variasi paradigma keagamaan, latar belakang pendidikan dan minat keilmuan, akses terhadap sumber dan bahan bacaan, serta corak keagamaan yang dianut. Buku yang digunakan mengandung problem akut terkait dengan masalah moderasi beragama. Bahasan tentang tema-tema tauhid dan teologi Islam memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan dengan anutan umum masyarakat Banten dan sekitarnya. Implikasi penting dari hasil kajian ini, beberapa tema tentang sejarah, pemikiran sosial dan politik Islam, serta ilmu tauhid dan ilmu kalam perlu dilakukan peninjauan ulang, pengayaan referensi, dan lebih memperkaya nuktah-nuktah pemikiran keagamaan.
