The aim of this research is to assess the internal structure and reliability of the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ) in a sample comprising 739 students (64% of them women), attending second-half classes at a private university in the Caribbean Region of Colombia. The SACQ is a 67-item self-report that evaluates four aspects related to university adjustment namely, the academic, institutional, social, and personal-emotional areas. To fulfill its goals, different measurement models were assessed through various confirmatory factor analyses, and the results indicate that the Peruvian model (four dimensions, 27 items) has the best statistical adjustment, presenting evidence in support of its internal structure. Similarly, high reliability indicators were obtained, both with regard to the construct and scoring. In conclusion, the SACQ’s psychometric properties are satisfactory as regards its internal structure (tetra-factorial model) and reliability, enabling its use to evaluate adjustment to college life.

The transition from high school to college can be a difficult adjustment for many students. Self-compassion, however, has been found to be associated with a range of positive psychosocial outcomes, and may also be associated with college adjustment. The goal of the present study was to examine the relationship between self-compassion and overall college adjustment. Fifty-seven female college students (M = 19.20 years, SD = 1.05) recruited from psychology classes participated in the study. Students completed the Self-Compassion Scale and Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire and responded to open-ended questions about their adjustment to college. Pearson’s correlations revealed significant linear associations between total self-compassion and overall college adjustment, r(57) = .28, p = .04, and between various subscales of self-compassion and college adjustment. Multiple regression analysis found that first-generation and commuter student status significantly predicted mindfulness, measured as a component of self-compassion, F(3, 52) = 3.47, p = .02, R2 = .17. Finally, hierarchical regression analysis indicated that, after controlling for student group status, higher levels of self-compassion were significantly associated with higher college adjustment scores, F(4,51) = 3.18, p = .02, R2 = .20. Analysis of the open-ended questions revealed 3 overarching themes regarding students’ beliefs about college adjustment: (a) the importance of friends, (b) the importance of parental support, and (c) the importance of self-kindness. Overall, this study contributed to the understanding of college adjustment by looking at the role of self-compassion. Preliminary considerations for interventions and resources aimed at promoting self-compassion and improving college adjustment are discussed.

Introduction: Bullying is a kind of low-level violence that has recently attracted the attention of researchers and psychologists in the field. The purpose of this study was to investigate the modeling of structural relationships between Alexithymia and bullying with the role of mediator of students' adaptationin             students.M ethods: Correlational research based on structural equation modeling technique, in particular regression equations (combining path analysis and factor analysis Second level). The statistical population consisted of all female students of the Humanities Department of Payame Noor University of Sari in the academic year of 2018-19. In this research, 401 students were selected as a sample by multistage cluster random sampling. Data gathering tools were Patchin and Hendowjah's Bullying Questionnaire (2011), Emergency Neural Network (1994), Baker and Siriac compatibility (1984). Resulth: The findings showed that the research model was confirmed and in general, 36 percent of students' bullying could be explained by student Alexithymia and student adaptation. Also, Alexithymia and student adaptation variables have a direct direct effect on students 'bullying. Emotional neural pathology has an indirect effect on students' bullying, with regard to student interpersonal mediation. Conclusion: The results of this study emphasized the importance of Alexithymia with regard to the quality of student compatibility., which can provide practical implications for reducing the level of bullying to counselors and psychologists, and considering the findings of the study can be used to reduce the incidence rate. Bullying among students has led to increased levels of academic compatibility as well as identification and correction of students' Alexithymia.
