Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the utilization of Lean & Six Sigma quality initiatives in healthcare sector in India. Methodology The survey questionnaires were sent to 454 hospitals through registered postal in all the states of India. The survey questionnaire was designed to assess different quality initiatives; currently implemented in Indian hospitals, factors align with organization’s objectives, reasons for not implementing Lean & Six Sigma and contribution of Lean & Six Sigma projects in healthcare improvement projects etc. A separate section in the questionnaire provides the feedback on implementation of Lean & Six Sigma in various hospitals. The relationships between Lean & Six Sigma and healthcare performance have also been established in this paper. Findings It is found that 15 Nos. of hospitals have implemented the Lean tools while 14 Nos. have implemented the Six Sigma tools out of 109 collected responses. This shows the utilization of Lean & Six Sigma in Indian healthcare sector. The ‘Lack of knowledge’ and ‘Availability of resources’ are the major reasons for not implementing Lean & Six Sigma. It is also observed that 22% running projects were related to Lean & Six Sigma out of various improvement projects running in various hospitals. Originality There is lack of evidences of similar studies that determines the utilization of Lean & Six Sigma in Indian healthcare sector at the national level. This paper will provide important breakthrough to academicians and healthcare practitioners, who are involved in Lean & Six Sigma research. Social implications The present study will create awareness among healthcare practitioners across India for utilization of quality tools that will provide direct benefits to the society.

Purpose: Considering the speed of technological development towards the Industry 4.0 era the change is necessary for managerial aspects in industrial companies. In this paper an attempt is made to understand the influence of Industry 4.0 technologies on the Quality 4.0 concept better.      Methodology/Approach: Two aspects were analysed in order to achieve the goal – the influence of Industry 4.0 on quality management and the influence of Quality 4.0 on customer satisfaction. The paper is based on a literature review and a pilot study based on questionnaires prepared for research purposes. Findings: It was found out that the emergence of new technologies is beneficial for Quality Management processes and customer satisfaction. Moreover, the influence is greatly described by the amount of data now available for analysis. However, as the concept of Quality 4.0 is in its infancy, the necessary change is still required. Research Limitation/Implication: As the research was conducted in the Czech Republic, the results are limited according to the territory. Also, the study was based on the literature review available from SCOPUS and WoS databases in English, thus further studies of available literature in other languages might be needed. Originality/Value of paper: Although the quality tools that are used in Quality 4.0 are already known and accepted the influence of advanced technologies on quality management is not clear. In this paper an attempt is made to understand the influence.

The article discusses management decisions, following which workers of transport enterprises can understand in detail the nature of the occurrence of road accidents and violations of traffic rules. Attention is paid to quality tools, emphasis is placed on their applied application to improve the controllability of the transportation process and minimize accidents. Demonstrates the use of quality tools as one of the methods for analyzing the functioning of any transport unit.

The objective of this research was to develop a quality outcome matrix by exploring a systematic pattern for selecting quality tools and techniques in the Industrial Revolution 4.0, particularly in the smart manufacturing context. By conducting this analysis, the researchers found homogeneous patterns of sufficient quality case studies that can provide a basis for selecting appropriate groups of quality tools and techniques in different scenarios. Multiple case studies and an in-depth literature review were used as the research design approach. Two qualitative data collection methods were used: (1) primary data from face-to-face interviews with employees at Toyo Memory Technology and Intel Malaysia, and (2) secondary data from a previous study. Our study aimed to answer the following research question: “What are the appropriate tools and techniques concerning circumstances of quality dimensions and smart manufacturing?” Thus, our research developed a diagnostic matrix by developing an outcome matrix for selecting appropriate quality tools and techniques. The scientific novelty of this work is that this is a real-world case study describing the authors’ theoretical and practical prerequisites that can help other researchers and industrial practitioners or manufacturers in selecting the appropriate sets of quality tools and techniques for solving quality problems.

Abstract Purpose The aim of this study was to review the scientific evidence and describe the ocular treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) related to pharmacological treatment in patients with multiple sclerosis. Methods A systematic review of literature was conducted according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis guidelines in the MEDLINE, LILACS, EMBASE, and COCHRANE databases. Articles were filtered based on title and abstract considering the selection criteria and subsequently filtered by full-text reading. The resulting articles were evaluated using the Joanna Briggs Institute Quality Tools. Study characteristics and results were extracted and presented in structured tables to conduct a narrative synthesis. Results A total of 2852 published articles were extracted using our strategy. After removing duplicates, 2841 articles were screened based on title and abstract, 102 articles were evaluated using quality tools, and 69 articles were filtered by full-text reading. Through this search strategy, 60 articles met all the inclusion criteria and seven articles, through a search update conducted in the same manner, were included. This resulted in 67 articles meeting the inclusion criteria, of which 11 were experimental and 56 were observational. The therapies related to ocular TEAEs were alemtuzumab, amantadine, fingolimod, steroids, CTLA-4 Ig, estriol, interferon β, natalizumab, hyperbaric oxygen, rituximab, siponimod, teriflunomide, and tovaxin. Fingolimod and siponimod were commonly associated with macular edema, interferon β was associated with retinopathy, alemtuzumab was associated with thyroid eye disease, amantadine was associated with corneal edema, and steroids were associated with acute retinal necrosis. Opportunistic infections were also found, and there was one life-threatening case. Conclusions Our search revealed different methodological assessments of the topic. However, longitudinal studies regarding ocular TEAEs related to multiple sclerosis therapy are necessary to provide evidence-based recommendations, especially in understudied regions such as Latin America and Africa. Physicians should monitor ocular symptoms in patients being treated for multiple sclerosis and consider an interdisciplinary approach. Systematic review registration PROSPERO ID CRD42020106886
