The purpose of this paper is to explore what is known about equine-assisted activities and therapies based on Roy’s adaptation model. Quality of life for vulnerable populations who engage with equine-assisted activities and therapies is considered the main concept here. This state-of-the-art review was conducted from four databases ranging from January 2019 to February 2020. Limited studies examined the effect of equine-assisted activities and therapies on cancer survivors, although preliminary data were promising. The rural context was not extensively examined. Thus, equine-assisted activities and therapies may enhance the quality of life through four adaptation modes.

Background: One of the effective nursing measures for enhancing the quality of life (QOL) and adaptation of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is the use of Roy’s adaptation model (RAM). Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effect of a training program based on Roy’s adaptation model on the adaptation of patients undergoing CABG. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was performed on 60 patients admitted to the intensive care units (ICUs) of Imam Khomeini Hospital and Golestan Hospital in Ahvaz, southwest of Iran, in 2020. Patients were selected based on inclusion criteria and randomly assigned into intervention and control groups. A four-session training program based on RAM was held for the intervention group. Data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 22. Results: The mean scores of physiological, self-concept, role function, and independence and interdependence dimensions in the experimental group before the intervention were 48.76 (6.36), 23.76 (4.10), 19.60 (2.93), and 25.60 (3.54), respectively. After the intervention, the mean scores in the mentioned dimensions were 101.26 (5.23), 50.80 (3.82), 39.10 (4.15), and 25.47 (3.99), respectively, indicating an upward trend (P < 0.05). Also, the mean score of total adaptation before the intervention was 117.73 (12.00), which rose to 216.63 (7.88) after the intervention (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The results showed that RAM plays an important role in the adaptation of patients undergoing CABG surgery. Thus, this model can provide a suitable framework for examining and providing care for patients undergoing CABG in ICUs.

Kata kunci: Adaptasi Roy, Depresi, Perilaku Bunih Diri, Psikososial, Stress  Behavior Analysis of Suicide Experiment with Roy's Adaptation Model Approach: Case study Abstract. Suicide is a maladaptive response of a range of self-protective responses. Suicide occurs as a result of stress and depression caused by psychosocial factors such as personality, psychodynamics, repetitive failure, cognitive factors, social support, past experiences, and environmental stressors. Roy's adaptation model regards the humans as biopsychosocial beings and has problems that demand the humans to adapt the problem. The purpose of this article is to obtain the empirical and theoretical explanations of psychosocial factors related to suicidal risk behavior. This case study uses descriptive methods in cases of management in a mental hospital. Adapatif stress management is a preventive effort against suicidal risk behavior. Suicidal behavior will not occur if individuals can use adaptive coping mechanisms supported by social support, interpersonal relationships, and ability to choose coping strategies as a protector factor. Nurses in managing clients with a history of suicide should involve families and communities to optimize the use of these protector factors.  Keywords  : Roy's adaptation, Suicide Risk, Depression, Stress, Psychosocial

ABSTRACT Objectives: to describe a medium-range nursing theory for the cardiovascular rehabilitation process. Methods: theoretical development study, addressing the elaboration of medium-range theory, based on Roy’s Adaptation Model, which combined theoretical deduction with induction strategies, based on literature review and concept analysis. Results: the Medium-Range Theory for Nursing in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation presents eleven concepts and respective definitions, organized in relationships that represent elements, through modeling and image representation. Theoretical assumptions and propositions are presented. Final Considerations: the theory presented aims to contribute to the description of the cardiovascular rehabilitation process from the perspective of the adaptation of the person, family and groups, as well as to impact the nursing care implemented to patients in the process. The procedures advanced from conceptualization to operationalization, through the production of theoretical propositions that will guide future theoretical testing.

Incidence of preeclampsia cases is about 5-8% of all pregnancies. This research aims to analyze articles related the application of nursing model in pregnant with preeclampsia. The design of the research used is the literature review, articles collected using search engines such as EBSCO, Sciencedirect, Proquest and Elsevier. The article used was published in 2010-2019. Based on the article collected obtained the results that diagnose preeclampsia while pregnant can cause anxiety and fear increases during pregnancy. Because of this condition, individuals have increased blood pressure so as to develop a pathological nature. The role of nurses in providing therapy according to this model is to focus on human beings as a biopsicosocial creature as a unified and interconnected whole. Further studies are advised consider the effects on various variables by taking into account the random effects and changes in the model with the addition of contextual effects in the analysis.
