Purpose To better respond to user needs for personalized information services in the context of academic libraries, this study aims at developing a prototype to provide mobile curation services by using the concept of content curation. Design/methodology/approach This study used a mobile application software development process, which consisted of five phases: user and organizational requirements, architecture design, navigation design, page design and implementation and usability testing. Usability testing was conducted with a total of 20 college students by online surveys at a university. Findings Meta-analysis identified key user needs: diversification of services, more personalized services, active communication with librarians, quality improvement of information and interface improvement. User and organizational requirements derived four main service modules – namely, Curation Services, Live Chat, My Page and My Log. Usability testing regarding ease of use, perceived usefulness and satisfaction indicated that participants were satisfied with the prototype. Research limitations/implications The study extends the discussion of quality academic library services by introducing the concept of content curation that uses the advantages of mobile technologies to overcome existing limitations in library services insufficient for meeting individual user needs. Originality/value Although many studies have discussed mobile library services, few studies have focused on developing a system for such services. The model developed in the study fills the research gap. Above all, the key modules specified by the prototype – Curation Services, Live Chat, My Page and My Log services – are expected to improve existing research and learning support services currently offered by academic libraries.

Penerapan metode UCD menggunakan empat proses Specify the context of use, Specify User and Organizational Requirements, Produce Design Solutions dan Evaluate designs against user requirements.

Tahapan UCD meliputi Understand and specify the context of use, Specify the user and organizational requirements, Produce design solutions (prototypes) dan Evaluate designs with users against requirements.

Organizational requirements, managerial strategic objectives, and their attendant challenges are very specific indicators that enable characterization of these dimensions. An exploratory study of 173 cases of companies, covering 17 distinct economic activity sectors, spread over all continents, was conducted, taking into account contingency factors such as culture, size, and structure. The elements of industry, strategy, and technology were also considered, as well as managerial cognition. The analyses of needs, objectives, challenges, implemented solutions, and results of the transformation to cloud computing, enabled us to identify these dimensions. Strategies to maximize the transformative value of cloud computing are then presented. The results of this study can be used by managers to facilitate and optimize this cloud computing transformation.

In light of the increasing mobility of people for study and employment purposes and the fact that Indigenous groups continue to be marginalized across the globe, this article introduces a tentative framework for adult educators or facilitators to decolonize their pre-departure orientations for workers or learners who plan to live in a different country. Drawing on Indigenous education principles, the framework consists of three guiding principles that intersect with one another: (1) Indigenizing teaching practice, (2) deconstructing ruling relations, and (3) promoting reflexivity, mutual respect, and understanding. Challenges to implementing this framework include organizational requirements to maintain a Western dominance in their pre-departure programs.

As alternative source of financing, microfinance and crowdfunding organizations are increasingly relying on commitment, compliance and cooperation among individuals, groups, and communities. In considering the extraordinary growth of the market for microfunding and microlending in recent years, this article aims to investigate a number of important questions. Can the conventional rule of social collateral applied to group lending be replicated in online crowdfunding? What are the institutional, social and organizational requirements in order to transpose the social collateral model of solidarity and responsibility to heterogeneous online crowdfunding and microlending platforms? What would be the implications for borrowers and lenders in terms of group compliance, collaboration and cooperation? By highlighting the differences and similarities between microfinance and crowdfunding structures, the article seeks to provide a broad comparative framework for analyzing different patterns of behavior in communities, organizations and networks that engage in crowdfunding and microlending activities.
