The Director Plan of Art District - Soho Malaga (2011-2014) is an example of the assisted transformation of the neighborhood of Ensanche Heredia by the public administration of Malaga City Hall. The Ensanche’s conversion into Art District helped as a tool to create a city branding associated with the touristic and cultural consumption, stimulating by doing so themed public spaces and privatization process. With these cultural promotion policies, and by following the logics of creative industries, Malaga intends to put itself globally on the competitive map of touristic cities, fundamentally by urban interventions with a special focus on the productive role of the city’s culture. This way, the borough, advertised as a city of museums, with the production of Soho contributed to promoting the gentrification process that the center suffers, in which culture, understood as a strategic asset commodity, has a key role.

As of two cases in this study which were carried out in Madrid as social practices in art, community methodologies have been detailed as practiced in order to formalize collaborative creation proposed by each one. El Beso (The Kiss) (2018) and Cuentos que nunca cuentan (Tales that are never told) (2010) were carried out by the artist Toxic Lesbian with the participation of institutions such as Medialab-Prado and Intermediae, both of which are integrated in Matadero Madrid, Contemporary art creation center of the City Hall of Madrid. Both cases involved participation of the most directly concerned audiences because of the themes undertaken: migrant women in El Beso (The Kiss) and collectives of directly involved people in mental health in Cuentos que Nunca Cuentan (Tales that are never told). The proposals presupposed intervention in the public space of the city for their production and involved a wide representation of activists and elements of social or cultural institutions. This qualitative análisis of the processes and testimonies of the agents that participated seeks delving into the motivations of communities to become involved in this type of development, the role played by institutions or the inevitable politization of the proposals by the administrative structures that finance them.

An area of 12.90 million ha of dry land has not been used optimally for agriculture, opportunity available to plant watermelons with proper cultivation techniques, including the use of biological and inorganic fertilizers. Biofertilizers can help provide NPK nutrients for watermelon plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the appropriate dosage of biological fertilizers and compound NPK for increasing watermelon yields. The research was conducted at AKN Sakojo No.21 Kel. Kedondong Raya Kec. Banyuasin III Pangkalan Banyuasin City Hall, South Sumatra from July to October 2020. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RAK). Factorial 1 is the dose of liquid biological fertilizer, namely: 10 mL/L, 20 mL/L, and 30 mL/L. Factorial II is Compound NPK, namely: 600 kg/ha, 900 kg/ha, and 1200 kg/ha. The highest production of 22.32 kg/plot (38 tons/ha) was achieved at a dose of 30 mL/L of liquid biological fertilizer and 1200 kg/ha of compound NPK fertilizer.

This paper articulates architecture, urbanism and mental health through the study of specific habitation, called Therapeutic Residences, for people with severe mental illness who undergo psychosocial rehabilitation. The study analyzes the insertion of these habitations in the urban scheme, in relation to the possibilities of social coexistence, access to commerce, services and other public equipment through the presentation of two case studies located in the west zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Besides the considerations linked to the urban space in its physical sense, it also touches on the subjective questions inherent to the exchanges and experiences possible in this context. The methodological strategies correspond to the survey and data analysis along with a qualitative approach. Information made available by City Hall and Mental Health Office, satellite images, semi-structured interviews directed to professionals involved in assisting at the Therapeutic Residences and, in the case of the habitants, open interviews were used. The results indicate the offer of services, the location and the relation of the houses with the street as fundamental factors to the stimulus of social coexistence. It is concluded that the closed condominium model exclusive to TR, in addition to the fragility and difficulties in the urban area in which it is inserted, it hinders the process of psychosocial rehabilitation and it still refers to the idea of an asylum institution. The model of a one-story house integrated to the consolidated urban fabric suggests more possibilities of creating community ties and appropriating the urban space.

Today’s cities are seeking more social equity—a response in part to police violence, pandemic disparities, and the racial wealth gap. Activists, planners, and local government reformers are looking for bold examples of equity planning—single initiatives and multi-faceted equity plans. The mayoral administration of Harold Washington in Chicago (1983–1987) shows how a grassroots electoral campaign combined with participatory policy development produced the Chicago Works Together (CWT) Development Plan—that promoted jobs, neighborhoods, and citizen participation. This article recounts the development of CWT and examines the impacts of CWT for Chicago and equity planning.

Fundamental to the governance of local public administration, the principle of autonomy recognizes for those who manage the decision-making power in taking measures to solve the problems of the community. This paper has as main objective the analysis of the functioning of the principle of autonomy in the local public administration, with particularization at the level of the institution of the City Hall of Rădăuţi Municipality from Suceava County. By interpreting the perceptions expressed by public officials (including local councilors), civil servants, as well as contract staff working in this structure, the present micro-research highlights that the largest share of human resources surveyed: considers that the legislation in force covers the legal framework necessary for the proper functioning of the autonomy, declares that the limits of intervention and control of the central administration are largely respected, supports the importance of autonomy in the functioning of the City Hall institution. Regarding the right of initiative of staff and the freedom to decide on the execution of orders of the hierarchical superior, the results recorded show that most of the respondents adopted a neutral position. Also, regarding the degree of satisfaction of the questioned human resources in relation to the autonomy held in the position exercised, most of them declare neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the autonomy they have in the City Hall institution.

Healthcare logistics play an important role in management, being attributed the activities of acquisition, distribution and movement of materials, professionals and patients. This work aims to develop a study, using the healthcare logistics in the movement of patients in the third health region of Paraná, proposing a linear programming problem that will pass through a computational simulation, considering the existing demands and constraints in the system, aiming to optimize the flow of patients from this region. The present study developed four mathematical models, based on demands and constraints followed by linear programming in order to find the best possible solution for the flow of patients from the third health region of the state of Paraná. The study developed reached its goal of optimization, generating an economy in the transportation of patients. Through the analysis of the results, it is concluded that the model that best suits the presented problem is the one of costs minimization, since the one of vehicles presented higher costs. Possibly the model that minimizes the vehicles would bring better results if the vehicles were not outsourced, but of the Ponta Grossa City Hall (PMPG). Was possible to verify the importance of the theme, especially when referring to the flow of patients in the health services due to the lack of studies with this specific approach. Even with the scarcity of data, it is possible to notice the potential for improvements on this patient transport system.

Abstract A city based on the sustainable development priorities, friendly to its residents, combines human activity, technology challenges, and environmental requirements. The implementation of the idea of smart city should be discussed with regard to specific areas of activity. In order to identify the way of perceiving the activity conducted under this concept, a survey was carried out among employees of the City Office in Zabrze. The cognitive, competence and informational scope was verified. It was found that the overwhelming majority of officials (79%) are convinced that smart city principles are being implemented. The survey participants also provided specific examples of smart-city initiatives undertaken in the city, and a significant part of the respondents (64%) assigned their professional tasks to them. Moreover, three out of four surveyed officials in Zabrze declared that they know the tools supporting the smart urban development. The results presented in the article constitute pilot studies aimed at understanding the extent to which the Smart City idea is known by local government administration employees. In addition, these results serve as a tool for the authorities of Zabrze to disseminate knowledge about smart city among employees of the city hall.

The city of Medan is the third-largest city in Indonesia and has historical buildings or heritage that can be revitalized as a cultural heritage with tourism potential that can be developed. However, until now, the colonial heritage buildings have been destroyed up to 70%. This research method uses a tourism anthropology approach with a qualitative research type that focuses on tourist destinations. The research location is a heritage area, a colonial heritage building in the Merdeka Square segment, Maimoon segment, Benteng segment, Youth segment, Polonia segment, and Sambu segment. The study results reveal that Medan has a heritage in the form of historic buildings that have the potential to be developed and represent the identity of the city of Medan. The potential for tourism development can be carried out in 3 (three) potential areas, namely: 1) The youth segment, which includes Gedung Juang 45, which currently functions as the Sumatran Money Museum, Tip Top Restaurant, and Tjong A Fie Mansion. 2) the Maimoon segment, which includes: Maimoon Palace and the Great Mosque. 3) The Merdeka Square segment includes City Hall, which currently functions as the Grand City Hall, Hotel De Boer (currently called Grand Inna Hotel), and the London Sumatra building. Through urban tourism based on urban heritage tourism, tourists can be invited to appreciate and interpret the objects observed. It serves as education and recreation for the community. This activity is also a means of preserving the wealth and identity of the city of Medan.
