Abstract Cognate linkages provide the useful property in mechanism design of having the same motion. This paper describes an approach for determining all coupler curve cognates for planar linkages with rotational joints. Although a prior compilation of six-bar cognates due to Dijksman purported to be a complete list, that analysis assumed, without proof, that cognates only arise by permuting link rotations. Our approach eliminates that assumption using arguments concerning the singular foci of the coupler curve to constrain a cognate search and then completing the analysis by solving a precision point problem. This analysis confirms that Dijksman's list for six-bars is comprehensive. As we further demonstrate on an eight-bar and a ten-bar example, the method greatly constrains the set of permutations of link rotations that can possibly lead to cognates, thereby facilitating the discovery of all cognates that arise in that manner. However, for these higher order linkages, the further step of using a precision point test to eliminate the possibility of any other cognates is still beyond our computational capabilities.

AbstractThis research aimed to evaluate the bond strength by micro tensile strength (µTBS), elastic modulus (EM) and flexural strength (FS) by the three-point test using three types of composite resins: Charisma Diamond, Filtek Z350 and Tetric N-Ceram Bulk Fill; and three adhesion techniques: adhesive, silane, silane and adhesive. The combinations of each resin with the adhesive technique resulted in nine groups (n = 12). Initially, with the composites, EM and FS tests were performed. Sequentially, each fragment was repaired with the different adhesive systems. All samples were subjected to µTBS testing on a universal assay machine. Data were subjected to the normality test and the parametric ANOVA test. Charisma resin showed the highest values in EM and RF compared to the other composite resins (p <0.05). The highest µTBS value was for silane + adhesive repaired Charisma resin. The lowest µTBS values were in Bulk Fill resin, regardless of adhesive system. The EM and FS results showed that Filtek Z350 resins had the best results, while bulk fill resins had lower results. It was concluded that Charisma and Filtek Z350 resins presented better results. However, in the bulk fill group, the lowest mean values of µTBS, FS and EM were obtained, as well as the lowest value in EM.Keywords: Composite Resins. Adhesives. Adesivos. Resistência à Flexão.

This study investigate the structural behavior of lightweight composite slab system that consist of profiled steel sheet (PSS) attached to dry board (DB) using mechanical screws and with or without infill materials. A total four full-scale panel specimen were tested under four-point bending when subjected under static loading. Result of the four-point test shows that increasing the thickness of profiles steel sheet gives major effect to the deflection and ultimate load. The deflection and ultimate load of 1.0mm thick panel specimen is 16.45% and 34.45% respectively. Therefore, increased the thickness of profiled steel sheet can enhance the stiffness and strength of the lightweight composite slab systems. It also found that the infill material used in these experimental gives minor effect to deflection and ultimate load. The deflection and ultimate load of panel specimen with foamed concrete is 21.18% and 16.66% respectively. Thus, foamed concrete can be used only for non-structural purposed only such as sound proofing and fire resistance.

The use of plastic and related materials is increasing exponentially due to tremendous growth in population, urbanization and changed life style leads to widespread littering of plastic on the landscape. Disposal of waste plastic is a serious problem globally due to their non-biodegradability and hazardous to human healths, since these are not disposed scientifically and thus, create ground and water. If this curse to mankind in the form of waste plastic is used as a boon for mankind by using it as additives in road construction, it will proved to be a best solution over worst road condition. In the present paper techniques has been developed to use plastic waste for construction of bituminous roads and flexible pavements. In general bitumen is used as binder in road construction. Binding properties of this bitumen can be modified by blending it with waste plastic pieces. It can be used for construction purpose. this research aims to identify the impact of using polymer materials on physical properties of traditional bitumen used in asphaltic mix based on Marshall Mix design proceedings. During this research, traditional bitumen is modified by Styrene- Butadiene-Styrene (SBS). Percentages of 1,3,5,7, and 9% of SBS by weight of bitumen were mixed. Physical tests such as Penetration Test, Viscosity Test, Softening Point Test, and Flash Point Test were carried out to evaluate the enhancement in the modified bitumen properties. After that, HMA is prepared with polymer modified bitumen to study the change in Marshall asphalt mix criteria. Results show that, using SBS as a modifier agent has a positive impact on the physical properties of traditional bitumen. According to these results, it can be said that the use of SBS polymers showed a significant and noticeable improvement in the performance of the asphalt mixture. Also, modified asphalt mix at any percentage of modifier agent recorded high improvement in stability than the conventional asphalt mix.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, individuals were forced to remain at home, hence severely limiting the interaction within environmental stimuli, reducing the cognitive load placed on spatial competences. The effects of the behavioral restriction on cognition have been little examined. The present study is aimed at analyzing the effects of lockdown on executive function prominently involved in adapting behavior to new environmental demands. We analyze non-verbal fluency abilities, as indirectly providing a measure of cognitive flexibility to react to spatial changes. Sixteen students (mean age 20.75; SD 1.34), evaluated before the start of the lockdown (T1) in a battery of psychological tasks exploring different cognitive domains, have been reassessed during lockdown (T2). The assessment included the modified Five-Point Test (m-FPT) to analyze non-verbal fluency abilities. At T2, the students were also administered the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). The restriction of behaviors following a lockdown determines increased non-verbal fluency, evidenced by the significant increase of the number of new drawings. We found worsened verbal span, while phonemic verbal fluency remained unchanged. Interestingly, we observed a significant tendency to use the left part of each box in the m-FPT correlated with TAS-20 and with the subscales that assess difficulty in describing and identifying feelings. Although our data were collected from a small sample, they evidence that the restriction of behaviors determines a leftward bias, suggesting a greater activation of the right hemisphere, intrinsically connected with the processing of non-verbal information and with the need to manage an emotional situation.
