AbstractIndocyanine green (ICG) is a clinically approved dye that has shown great promise as a phototheranostic material with fluorescent, photoacoustic and photothermal responses in the near-infrared region. However, it has certain limitations, such as poor photostability and non-specific binding to serum proteins, subjected to rapid clearance and decreased theranostic efficacy in vivo. This study reports stable and biocompatible nanoparticles of ICG (ICG-Fe NPs) where ICG is electrostatically complexed with an endogenously abundant metal ion (Fe3+) and subsequently nanoformulated with a clinically approved polymer surfactant, Pluronic F127. Under near-infrared laser irradiation, ICG-Fe NPs were found to be more effective for photothermal temperature elevation than free ICG molecules owing to the improved photostability. In addition, ICG-Fe NPs showed the markedly enhanced tumor targeting and visualization with photoacoustic/fluorescent signaling upon intravenous injection, attributed to the stable metal complexation that prevents ICG-Fe NPs from releasing free ICG before tumor targeting. Under dual-modal imaging guidance, ICG-Fe NPs could successfully potentiate photothermal therapy of cancer by applying near-infrared laser irradiation, holding potential as a promising nanomedicine composed of all biocompatible ingredients for clinically relevant phototheranostics.

Abstract Diffusion of aluminum in amorphous silicon films during crystallization through infrared laser irradiation was studied. Diffusion regime was found to change from limited source to abundant source diffusion at higher laser source power. At the same time, crystalline structure of the obtained samples becomes more perfect, which is more characteristic to limited source diffusion mode.

Abstract Two new kinds of the structural in-homogeneities in the polystyrene films were created by the irradiation of the film with nanosecond pulses of the infrared laser with 1064 nm wavelength. At the beginning of the irradiation dark micro-inclusions having unusual close to rectangular geometries appeared. After about 30 seconds of the irradiation one more kind structural distortions appeared having the geometries of the systems of the concentric micro-rings. Simultaneously with the creation of these concentric micro-rings the film started to emit bright blue luminescence all over its area and significant focusing of the laser beam during its propagation through the film was observed resulting in the generation of the bright white flashes at the screen installed behind the film. The creation of the dark rectangular spots as well as of the concentric micro-rings are ascribed to the non-linear interactions between the laser radiation and the structural distortions produced in the film due to photo-thermal processes excited in the film.

In this paper, the sampling current characteristics of the external circuit and the internal mechanism of the current generation in APD irradiated by a millisecond pulse laser were studied. The photocurrent of APD irradiated by a millisecond pulse laser with different energy densities was obtained by the sampling resistance of the external circuit. The photocurrent can be divided into a photocurrent stage, conduction stage and recovery stage in the time domain. This is mainly due to the carrier flow in APD, which leads to the lowering of the barrier between the PN junction. The research results of this paper can be extended to the response of the detector to the high-power infrared pulse laser and provide a certain experimental basis for the design of a millisecond pulse infrared laser detection circuit.
