Neglected Achilles tendon ruptures are becoming more common. The etiologies are numerous, often complicating acute ruptures of the undiagnosed calcaneal tendon, whether by ignorance of the pathognomonic signs (loss of the physiological equine in prone position and Thomson’s maneuver) or by erroneous diagnosis of partial rupture often induced by an ultrasound. Also, it can be due to an iterative ruptures or ruptures on a pathological tendon. The treatment is always performed by a surgery. However, techniques are numerous and depend on the indications. We describe in this work the surgical technique of repairing neglected Achilles tendon ruptures according to Bosworth, performed in the Department of Traumatology-Orthopedics and Reconstructive Surgery of the Ibn Rochd University Hospital Center in Casablanca, Morocco.

Clinical case of 62 year old patient complaining of rash on the glans of the penis is reported. It was known from the case history that genital rashes first appeared in spring 2020 in the form of two “red dots” associated with no subjective sensations. During the initial visit to dermatology clinic (in London) in June 2020 no diagnosis was established; antibiotics and application of topical emollient were prescribed. The patient did not take treatment as prescribed. During the repeat visit to dermatologist (in Moscow) lichen planus was diagnosed; application of alclometasone dipropionate cream on the rashes 2 times a day was prescribed. Rashes resolved completely in 10 days with treatment.

AbstractCOVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is a recently emerged pulmonary infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). It started in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and led to a highly contagious disease. Since then COVID-19 continues to spread, causing exponential morbidity and mortality and threatening economies worldwide. While the primary diagnostic test for COVID-19 is the reverse transcriptase–polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay, chest CT has proven to be a diagnostic tool of high sensitivity. A variety of conditions demonstrates CT features that are difficult to differentiate from COVID-19 rendering CT to be of low specificity. Radiologists and physicians should be aware of imaging patterns of these conditions to prevent an erroneous diagnosis that could adversely influence management and patients’ outcome. Our purpose is to provide a practical review of the conditions that mimic COVID-19. A brief description of the forementioned clinical conditions with their CT features will be included.

Abstract Pulmonary hypertension is not the only cause of arterial desaturation in patients with atrial septal defect. Arterial desaturation can also occur with normal pulmonary artery pressure making it mandatory to understand the mechanism to avoid erroneous diagnosis. In this report, for the first time, we demonstrate atrial flutter as the cause of arterial desaturation in a patient with large atrial septal defect despite normal pulmonary artery pressure, which was normalised following successful radiofrequency ablation.

Frequent complications of Hirschsprung's disease and other disorders of intestinal motility are problems of late or erroneous diagnosis, and sometimes to a greater extent than complications of surgical techniques when performing surgical interventions. However, there are still cases of late diagnosis of the disease, which inevitably leads to technical difficulties during surgical treatment and an increase in the size of the colon resection. Secondary changes in the intestinal wall worsen the functional results of defect correction.

Absorbable hemostatic agents such as Surgicel are hemostatic materials composed of an oxidized cellulose polymer used to control post-surgical bleeding and cause coagulation. This material is sometimes purposefully left in situ where it slowly degrades over time and can produce an imaging appearance that mimics serious post-operative complications such as gangrenous infections and anastomotic leaks as well as potentially mimicking disease recurrence in later stages. In this article, we review the multimodality imaging appearance of this material in situ longitudinally in the range of post-operative settings, in order to promote awareness of this entity when interpreting post-operative imaging. We present this as a pictorial review focusing primarily but not exclusively on the chest noting that the thoracic imaging appearance of Surgicel® is less well reported in the published literature. An understanding of this entity may help to minimize erroneous diagnosis of a postoperative complication leading to unnecessary interventions.

The paper presents the cases of two infants affected by the so-called West syndrome. Despite a classical clinical presentation in one of the two cases, the diagnosis was delayed because of a previous erroneous diagnosis of gastroesophageal reflux disease. The Authors underline the importance of a timely diagnosis to optimise the prognosis of this potentially devastating condition.
