This paper proposes, validates and analyzes the dynamics of the susceptible exposed infectious recovered (SEIR) model for the propagation of COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia, which recorded the largest number of cases in the Arab world. The model incorporates a saturated incidence rate, a constant vaccination rate and a nonlinear treatment function. The rate of treatment is assumed to be proportional to the number of infected persons when this number is low and reaches a fixed value for large number of infected individuals. The expression of the basic reproduction number is derived, and the model basic stability properties are studied. We show that when the basic reproduction number is less than one the model can predict both a Hopf and backward bifurcations. Simulations are also provided to fit the model to COVID-19 data in Saudi Arabia and to study the effects of the parameters of the treatment function and vaccination rate on disease control.

Program files damage and other computer virus symptoms has become a very threatening issue to computer performance. This paper considered an  model with incidence of infected and program files damaged computers and saturated incidence of vaccination and treatment function. Two control functions have been used; one for vaccinating the susceptible computer population and the other for the treatment of the program files damaged computer population. The Pontryagin’s Maximum Principle has been used to characterize the optimal control whose numerical results show the positive impact of the two controls used for controlling the infection dynamics of computer virus. Actually the intention of this study is to minimize the number of infected and program files damaged computer systems and at the same time minimize the cost associated to the controls. Efficiency analysis is also studied to determine the best control strategy among vaccination and treatment. Numerical simulations were carried out in this model to demonstrate the analytical results and it was revealed that combination of vaccination and treatment is the most successful way to minimize the incidence of program files damage.

In this thesis we investigate the dynamics and bifurcation of SIR epidemic models with horizontal and vertical transmissions and saturated treatment rate. It is proved that such SIR epidemic models always have positive disease free equilibria and also have three positive epidemic equilibria. The ranges of the parameters related in the model were found under which the equilibria of the models are positive. By applying the qualitative theory of planar systems, it is shown the disease free equilibria is a saddle, stable node and globally asymptotically stable. Furthermore, it is also shown that the interior equilibria are saddle, saddle node or saddle point.

Dengue is one of the major health problems in Bangladesh and many people are died in recent years due to the severity of this disease. Therefore, in this paper, a SIRS model for the human and SI model for vector population with saturated incidence rate and constant treatment function has been presented to describe the transmission of dengue. The equilibrium points and the basic reproduction number have been computed. The conditions which lead the disease free equilibrium and the endemic equilibrium have been determined. The local stability for the equilibrium points has been established based on the eigenvalues of the Jacobian matrix and the global stability has been analyzed by using the Lyapunov function theory. It is found that the stability of equilibrium points can be controlled by the reproduction number. In order to calculate the infection rate, data for infected human populations have been collected from several health institutions of Bangladesh. Numerical simulations of various compartments have been generated using MATLAB to investigate the influence of the key parameters for the transmission of the disease and to support the analytical results. The effect of treatment function over the infected compartment has been illustrated. The sensitivity of the reproduction number concerning the parameters of the model has been analyzed. Finally, the most sensitive parameter that has the highest effect over reproduction number has been identified.

Abstract Survivors of pediatric sarcomas often experience greater psychological and psychosocial difficulties than their non-afflicted peers. We consider findings related to poorer outcomes from a developmental cascade perspective. Specifically, we discuss how physical, neurocognitive, psychological, and psychosocial costs associated with pediatric sarcomas and their treatment function transactionally to degrade well-being in long-term pediatric sarcoma survivors. We situate the sarcoma experience as a broad developmental threat – one stemming from both the presence and treatment of a life-imperiling disease, and the absence of typical childhood experiences. Ways in which degradation in one developmental domain spills over and effects other domains are highlighted. We argue that the aggregate effect of these cascades is two-fold: first, it adds to the typical stress involved in meeting developmental milestones and navigating developmental transitions; and second, it deprives survivors of crucial coping strategies that mitigate these stressors. This position suggests specific moments of intervention and raises specific hypotheses for investigators to explore.
