A popular video sharing site, YouTube, could be used as an alternative teaching medium in online learning activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is useful to help students to keep on learning and get materials well in the difficult circumstance caused by the pandemic. This study aims to describe how Youtube is used as a learning medium in English teaching, especially the writing skill at MTs Ma'aarif NU 01 Kemranjen during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data are collected through the triangulation of interview, observation, and documentation. The data are then analysed by applying Miles and Huberman’s (1994) model of data reduction, data display, and verification. The results of this study reveal that Youtube is seen to be a good learning medium to cope with the learning difficulties in the unprecedented Covid-19 crisis. The asynchronous nature of the Youtube videos enabled students to repeat the video as much as they want to. The implementation of Youtube in online learning was done in three stages: 1) preparation, the teacher makes and uploads the videos; 2) implementation, the teacher shares the link and provides brief explanation on WhatsApp; and 3) evaluation, the teacher gives quizzes to ensure that the materials are well-received. Meanwhile, the obstacles in the implementation are poor Intenet network, insufficient facilities, and unmotivated students. The pedagogical implication from this study is that Youtube is a good fit for online learning, it is highly recommended for teaching during the pandemic.

The research carried out aims to develop teaching materials that are sontextual local wisdom in order to attract student in learning. The teaching materials that will be developed in this research are e-LKPD based on drying salted fish on temperatured and heat materials. The research method used in this research in the ADDIE development model. The ADDIE development model has five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and evaluation. The research steps are carried out in accordanse with the ADDIE satges. The results of the research conducted, namely at the analysis stage, it was found that the lack of use of alternative teaching materials such as e-LKPD made student less interested during the learning process. Teaching materials that contain observation activities are meeded to improve psychomotor skills in students so that in this study the e-LKPD was developed by containing a simple experiment on drying salted fish. Preparation or writing of e-LKPD materials using the 3d pageflip application. This applicatin has the adavantage of complete features that make the 3d effect look real. This 3d pageflip appication requires a number of computer devices to use and the installation process is quite long. The constraints of this research are that the computer equipment owned by the researcher does not support the isntallation of the 3d pagefip application, the limited time of the study, and the limitation of the researcher in usng the 3d pageflip applicatin so that the research is only carried out until the sdesign stage.

Technology has a direct impact on human’s behaviors and lifestyles in Covid-19 pandemic era. Various sectors such as education and economy adapted technology-based remote work and study. With the existence of remote  study, the educational world will still face some issues related to the study effectiveness which requires students’ initiatives in the process. This research’s aim is to explore video game's potential as an alternative education method to solve those issues. Also, it is to study the reason why videogames are considered as a solution for remote study’s challenges during this pandemic. A study method towards related literature was used in this research. Conclusion achieved from this research is that videogames are able to stimulate students’ initiatives in exploring learning materials. Video games gave play-like learning experience and thus, reduced the stress on the students during remote study. However, the result still needs further study to achieve realistic methods that can be applied in the field.  Keywords: Game, Remote Study, Pandemic

Abstract Instructional videos are widely used to study teachers’ professional vision. A new technological development in video research is mobile eye-tracking (MET). It has the potential to provide fine-grained insights into teachers’ professional vision in action, but has yet been scarcely employed. We addressed this research gap by using MET video feedback to examine how expert and novice teachers differed in their noticing and weighing of alternative teaching strategies. Expert and novice teachers’ lessons were recorded with MET devices. Then, they commented on what they observe while watching their own teaching videos. Using a mixed methods approach, we found that expert and novice teachers did not differ in the number of classroom events they noticed and alternative teaching strategies they mentioned. However, novice teachers were more critical of their own teaching than expert teachers, particularly when they considered alternative teaching strategies. Practical implications for the field of teacher education are discussed.

Distance education has become an essential part of life on a global scale during the COVID-19 pandemic. This process has driven all education stakeholders, who focus on providing learning outcomes without any loss, to alternative teaching models. The aim of this study is to examine the extent of the effects of writing-to-learn activities integrated into the distance education process on learning. Conducted as an action research, this study consisted of 42 Year 4 undergraduate prospective teachers studying Social Studies Teaching. A variety of writing-to-learn activities and semi-structured interview forms were used as data collection tools. While writing-to-learn activities were evaluated with holistic rubric, the opinions of prospective teachers were analyzed by content analysis. As a result, it was concluded that writing-to-learn activities included in distance education made significant contributions to the development of students throughout the application process. The activities were found effective on learning since they involved students in the process and facilitated permanent learning. It is understood from the opinions of the prospective teachers that an enjoyable and quality learning can be achieved with such activities included in the study, even from a distance. Based on the results, it can be stated that the writing-to-learn model is an alternative learning approach that can be used in distance education.

Despite some skeptics, most foreign language teachers, especially those of English as a Foreign Language (EFL)/English as a Second Language (ESL), advocate Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and have long been conducting student-centered communicative activities in their classrooms. This paper argues that CLT is generally ineffective in teaching quiet students and students with little motivation. In the context of teaching Malay as a foreign language, it introduces an alternative teaching approach that requires teacher-centered drill activities, which have been shown effective in EFL teaching in Japan, a country known for its typically quiet students, most of whom do not see a point in acquiring any practical skills of English. The paper demonstrates the necessity of explaining basic syntactic rules, some of which tend to be taken for granted, that are crucial in helping students of Malay develop a systematic grammar of their target language. AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic has confronted mathematics teachers with the challenge of developing alternative teaching practices—in many cases at a distance through digital technology—because schools were closed. To investigate what distance practices in secondary mathematics education have emerged and how teachers experienced them, we set out online questionnaires in Flanders—the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium—, Germany, and the Netherlands. The questionnaire focused on teaching practices, teacher beliefs, didactics, and assessment. Data consisted of completed questionnaires by 1719 mathematics teachers. Results show that the use of video conferencing tools increased massively, while the use of mathematics-specific tools that teachers used before the lockdown reduced substantially. Further findings are that teachers' confidence in using digital technologies increased remarkably during the lockdown and that their experiences and beliefs only marginally impacted their distance learning practices. Also, we observed some differences between the three countries that might be explained by differences in educational policies and in technological facilities and support. For future research, it would be relevant to investigate long-term changes in teachers’ practices, as well as students’ views and experiences related to the teacher’s practices.
