Based on the 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Index’s data, globally, Indonesia is a country that has a low number of entrepreneurs, which position in 94 from 137 countries. Meanwhile, entrepreneurs have an important role in supporting the national economy in various aspects. Indirectly, they are required to have more competence to compete and survive longer. This research finds out the relevance of 30 characteristics in the three-cluster entrepreneurial competence block diagram for entrepreneurs in East Java. The authors use the qualitative method with the Miles and Huberman analysis technique. This data was collected by interviewing 11 entrepreneurs who have been selected based on the criteria. With the approach of Miles and Huberman, the researcher concluded that 11 entrepreneurs had 30 entrepreneurial characteristics and considered that these characters were important. The results identify that 30 characteristics in the three-cluster entrepreneurial competency block diagram are valid. In addition, the competence of entrepreneurs can be through a religious approach and the culture of the surrounding community. And during the pandemic, entrepreneurial competence is more relevant with the government and society support.

One of the alternatives to reduce waste in Indonesia is the establishment of a Waste Bank. The role of waste bank actors is not the same as collectors or scavengers, they are expected to have entrepreneurial and personal characteristics. The purpose of this study is to analyze the forming factors of entrepreneurial activity in waste banks that contribute to the growth of a sustainable waste processing business. This research was conducted in Sawangan Depok. The first research stage collected primary data using a questionnaire on 111 active waste bank actors using the purposive sampling technique, then analyzed the data using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that the goodness fit criteria were met and the measurement variables in the model had good reliability (CR≥0,70, VE≥0,50). The entrepreneurial activities of waste bank actors are most influenced by entrepreneurial characteristics (γ = 0,70) and resources (γ = 0,63). The entrepreneurial characteristics of the waste bank actors are well shaped by motivation (λ = 0,40), risk (λ = 0,49), and innovation (λ = 1,00). The implication is that to grow a sustainable waste bank requires an innovative character for the waste bank actors.

This study aims to analyze and empirically examine the effect of personal characteristics, human capital, and social capital variables on entrepreneurial business performance variables, with the intervening variable being entrepreneurial characteristics. A sample of 182 respondents, using a questionnaire instrument, the assumption test shows the results of the evaluation of the normality of the data that do not deviate, then the multivariate outliers test has the same degree of freedom of 22, the value of mahalanobis distance ² (0.001;22) = 48.268 so it can be concluded that the model on the data has has no outliers. Residual testing, after the model respecification technique was carried out, it showed that the loading factor of all indicators was > 0.5 and the standardized residual value showed that the value was in the range of ± 2.58 so that it was concluded that the modified model was acceptable. Hypothesis testing, there is a significant influence between the variables of personal characteristics and human capital, on entrepreneurial characteristics. Human capital variables and business characteristics have a significant effect on business performance. But there is no significant effect between the variables (1) social capital on entrepreneurial characteristics, and (2) personal characteristics on business performance. Novelty is a business performance research model with entrepreneurial characteristics as the intervening variable, and the survey was conducted during the economic crisis due to the covid-19 pandemic. Key words : personal characteristics, human capital, social capital, entrepreneurial characteristics, entrepreneurial business performance

The current Internet revolution has changed the entrepreneurial opportunities and trends. This study explores the relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics (e.g., innovation, leadership, planning, and sociability) and the performance of entrepreneurial vloggers in India. In addition, this study considers the mediating effect of entrepreneurial intentions. This study is cross-sectional, and it considered 128 entrepreneurial vloggers for the analysis. The SmartPLS application was used to estimate the structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis for the estimation of reliability and validity along with the path relationship. The findings are more important as the entrepreneurial characteristics can meaningfully predict the performance of entrepreneurial vloggers in a positive direction. Moreover, the relationship between entrepreneurial characteristics and the performance of entrepreneurs is partially mediated by entrepreneurial intentions. These findings have important implications for vloggers in Indian or other countries with similar nature. This study has also put some future research directions at the end.

The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze the influence of human resources competencies and entrepreneurial characteristics on the performance of the small-medium-sized food industry with the intervening variable of competitive advantage. This research is verification in nature, basically wants to test the truth of a hypothesis which is carried out through data collection in the field. The unit of analysis in this research is the food SMIs (Small and Medium Industries) actors in Jambi Province. The data were obtained through distributing questionnaires to 378 SMIs food entrepreneurs. The data analysis used was quantitative analysis using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The analysis results concluded that the respondents' responses to the variables of human resources competence, entrepreneurial characteristics, competitive advantage, and SMIs performance obtained the average number included in the good scale range. The variables of human resources competency, entrepreneurial characteristics, competitive advantage significantly influence the performance of food SMIs in Jambi Province, either partially or simultaneously. Human resources competency and entrepreneurial characteristics variables have a significant indirect effect on SMIs performance through the intervening variable of competitive advantage. The entrepreneurial characteristics variable is the dominant variable affecting the SMIs performance. The research model by adding the competitive advantage variable as an intervening variable resulted in a better effect on the SMIs performance.

Purpose This study aims to examine the key entrepreneurial roles (financial literacy, risk tolerance and competency) in the financial performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan and the mediating effects of locus of control and spiritual and emotional quotients. Design/methodology/approach The study data was collected from 541 SMEs in Pakistan (the target population) through a survey and analysed with partial least squares structural equation modelling. Findings The findings revealed that the key entrepreneurial characteristics were positively related to locus of control and spiritual quotient and elevated the financial performance in entrepreneurship. It was also reported that locus of control and spiritual quotient mediated between key entrepreneurial characteristics and financial performance. In this regard, emotional quotient strengthened the existing relationships between key characteristics, locus of control and spiritual quotient. Practical implications This study highlighted sustainable implications for SMEs to develop an effective mechanism and improve financial performance through guidelines that emphasized entrepreneurial characteristics and behaviours towards positive entrepreneurial ventures. This study also enabled policymakers to design policies that catalysed SME performance in Pakistan. Originality/value This study contributed a novel concept of key entrepreneurial characteristics by introducing a characteristics tool kit. Consequently, information on a unique framework (by integrating entrepreneurial characteristics and financial performance) and literature on spiritual quotient and locus of control in entrepreneurship were enriched. Contributions to the regulatory focus theory and four-phase Rubicon model in the study context were also made.
