In this article, in distinction to documentation as an epistemic understanding of documents, I will discuss the epistemology of documentality as an indexical theory of documental functions, which I will develop through Bruno Latour’s notion of information. This notion of indexicality is different than Suzanne Briet’s notion of indexicality (which I have discussed elsewhere (Briet, 2006)). I will begin this paper with an historical problem that illustrates the issues of viewing documents as content representation. This is the problem identified by Vincent Debaene (Debaene, 2014) in early and mid-twentieth century French field anthropology of the “two book” phenomenon, which attempted to address a perceived epistemic distance between lived experience and its representation through scientific documents. The solution to this problem of presence and representation was the writing and publication by French anthroplogists of a second, more literary, document after the production of the scientific paper or book, which supposedly represented the experience of the anthropologist and the group under study more fully. I will argue that both texts, however, followed genre conventions and practices, which are neither more or less faithful to an original experience. I will argue that the notion of an original experience reflected in the content of the text misses the performatively indexical relationship of text to world and the role that this plays in scientific and other forms of documentality. In short, what Vincent Debaene identified as the French anthropologists’ quest for producing a “living documents,” which closes the gap between life and documental representation, is a Quixotic task, since the problem is not real but rather is a product of the epistemology of re-presentation, which forecloses from our understanding what really happens with scientific and other documents.

Indonesia’s Local Content Representation in Asian Games’ 2018 Mascot Design. The Asian Games is a grand event in the field of sports which is held every four years and involves hundreds of athletes from all over Asia. Therefore, the Asian Games, in addition to being a sporting competition, are also allowing the host country to show their development and relevance in the international league. The Asian Games event is also a major concern of President Joko Widodo because of its potential to be the place for attracting investors and also promoting Indonesia’s tourism. One main focus towards this event is shown by using a graphic system and branding following design principles and harmonization with Indonesia’s local wisdom. The representation of Indonesian culture and representation of the motto of the 2018 Asian Games "Energy of Asia" must be embodied in the visual design of the 2018 Asian Games, including logo design, graphic systems, and mascot design   Keyword: Asian Games 2018, vernacular design, mascot design, local content.

Medical records contain many terms which are difficult to process. Our aim in this study is to allow the visual exploration of the information in medical databases where the texts presents a large number of syntactic variations and abbreviations, through an interface which facilitates content identification, navigation and information retrieval. We propose the use of multi-term tag clouds as content representation tools and as assistants for the browsing and querying tasks. The tag cloud generation is achieved through a novelty mathematical method that allows related terms to remain grouped together within the tags To evaluate this proposal, we have used a database with 24,481 records. 23 expert users in the medical field were tasked to complete a survey to evaluate the generated tag clouds properties and we obtained a precision of 0.990, a recall of 0.870 and a F1score of 0.904 in the evaluation of the tag cloud as an information retrieval tool. The main contribution of this approach is that we automatically generate a visual interface over the text capable of capturing the semantics of the information and facilitating access to medical records.

The study aims to explore the pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing Content Representation (CoRe) on electrochemistry based context. This research adopted an instrumental case study. A total of 20 pre-service chemistry teacher enrolled on Curriculum course were the subject of this research. The data of pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe were collected according to the document which consist a questions on pedagogical aspect. There were 9 indicators were used as a references to explored the pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe. The data of pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe were analysed according to descriptive quantity technique by classifying the mean score obtained into five categories from very good to very poor. The result of this study showed that the pre-service chemistry teacher ability in constructing CoRe were pretty good, thus it can be concluded that pre-service chemistry teacher were ready to conducted a quality chemistry learning. The pre-service chemistry teacher in the future is expected applying CoRe in every learning to promote students’ chemistry meaningful learning.

The results of the preliminary study were obtained from 15 prospective biology teacher students related to the initial abilities that must be possessed to become a teacher and the implementation of learning in science learning. In general, 15 prospective teachers were of the opinion that it was not so different about the ability to have to become a teacher. Based on the results of the preliminary study, prospective teacher students already know the abilities that need to be possessed to become a teacher and in the implementation of learning students must be active but still not showing knowledge related to knowledge that combines content and pedagogical knowledge. One way to analyze the ability of prospective teacher PCK is through filling in documents consisting of Content Representation (CoRe). The data presented in the form of student response questionnaire analysis related to CoRe in terms of education and language and the results of test the validity and reliability of items. For linguistic aspects of CoRe instrument in general CoRe instrument have very high frequency, meaning that CoRe instrument that have been developed are able to be accepted and used properly by prospective biology teacher students at Muhammadiyah Metro University with a percentage 70%. For educational aspects of the CoRe instrument in general CoRe instrument have very high criteria, meaning that the CoRe instrument that have been developed are able to be accepted and used properly by prospective biology teachers at the Muhammadiyah Metro University with a percentage 73,33%.
