AbstractSelf-related stimuli are important cues for people to recognize themselves in the external world and hold a special status in our perceptual system. Self-voice plays an important role in daily social communication and is also a frequent input for self-identification. Although many studies have been conducted on the acoustic features of self-voice, no research has ever examined the spatial aspect, although the spatial perception of voice is important for humans. This study proposes a novel perspective for studying self-voice. We investigated people’s distance perception of their own voice when the voice was heard from an external position. Participants heard their own voice from one of four speakers located either 90 or 180 cm from their sitting position, either immediately after uttering a short vowel (i.e., active session) or hearing the replay of their own pronunciation (i.e., replay session). They were then asked to indicate which speaker they heard the voice from. Their voices were either pitch-shifted by ± 4 semitones (i.e., other-voice condition) or unaltered (i.e., self-voice condition). The results of spatial judgment showed that self-voice from the closer speakers was misattributed to that from the speakers further away at a significantly higher proportion than other-voice. This phenomenon was also observed when the participants remained silent and heard prerecorded voices. Additional structural equation modeling using participants’ schizotypal scores showed that the effect of self-voice on distance perception was significantly associated with the score of delusional thoughts (Peters Delusion Inventory) and distorted body image (Perceptual Aberration Scale) in the active speaking session but not in the replay session. The findings of this study provide important insights for understanding how people process self-related stimuli when there is a small distortion and how this may be linked to the risk of psychosis.

The global mobility of students is on the rise and the recruitment of international students is high on the agenda of institutions in higher education. By communicating a distinctive corporate identity on their websites, universities can distinguish themselves from competitors and generate a positive image to attract talented international students. In this study, the online corporate identity of top universities in 12 countries is compared by semantic network analyses. This cross-country comparison demonstrates that universities in different countries create a distinctive online corporate identity by using different (combinations of) frames within four identified themes: internal characteristics, student resources, external position and affairs, and corporate citizenship. These insights are useful in the development of communication strategies by universities and national governments.

Abstract While the Swedish negator inte may be doubled in a final clause-external position, in both standard Swedish and dialects, many dialects also allow a final, clause-internal particle (e, i or ai) in negated clauses. FNPs occur in a coherent area around the Baltic Sea, and in contrast with doubling negation, they are possible both after both inte and aldrig ‘never’. FNPs are also used in questions and exclamations, contexts that disallow doubling negation. These particles may have developed from the former Swedish negator ej or from the common inte. An argument for the former alternative is that other dialectal phenomena that spread from central Sweden during the late Middle Ages have approximately the same geographic distribution. In the final section of the paper, some typological consequences and implications are discussed. Furthermore, it is argued that syntactic studies of non-standard varieties may reveal new insights of typological relevance.

This article discusses the role of the technical in V.A. Podoroga's project of studying the literature worlds as archives of human experience. On the level of content, among many other components of these worlds he distinguished working and non-working machines, “gizmos” and various optical devices, including the mechanic eye, camera, mounting, etc. Formally, the action of these machines can be assessed as alienation, though in the context of modern media studies and exploration of the perspectives of anthropology, they can also be described as a problematic contact zone between the human and non-human, with a bias towards breaking the already historically disrupted bodily-affective interaction with the “outside”. Studies of Andrei Platonov's show the most radical interaction with the technical, in this case causing dissimilation of the human. However, even for this “inhuman” material, Podoroga chooses a form of human-measured approximation and distancing, which allows defending the position of an active researcher, observer, anthropologist. His efforts produce a kind of reconstruction, which at a certain time distance reveals the “seams”, “folds”, “cuts”, “plexuses”, “gaps” that formed at once the experience of the body and experience of writing. This is how the components of literature worlds are extracted, and from them “a picture of the universe can be deduced”. Although an external position to technics is considered to be the only guarantee of the human, even if it is strange, symptomatic, seizure-like, a different understanding of the technical is possible. Without claiming that a “machine” can assemble components in the absence of the observer's (reader's) comprehension ability, it seems nevertheless possible to relate the technical to more general principles: the methods of dispersion and gathering that form the form, the principles of intervalization and binding the heterogeneous, and most importantly, the principle of generating conditions for detecting an event. Then it will be necessary to clarify the relationship between techne and literature in the broader sense of poiesis, in the process of which elements can be formed from the indivisible “compressed”.

Purpose of the study: development of directions and basic model of resocialization of convicts. This study uses a three-factor dichotomous baseline model of convict resocialization with a single “external-internal” dichotomy. This model defines the “vectors of development” of a convict and shows the common factors of this process, which correctional officers need to consider when organizing re-socialization work with this category of people. The research resulted in conclusions from the analysis of three factor-categories of pedagogy: “education”, “training” and “education”, determining the objective (external) position of the individual, and “self-learning” and “self-education”, determining the subjective (internal) position of the individual. While using the principle of “semantic proximity”, a three-factor basic-dichotomous “superimposition” of these factors-categories of pedagogy on such concepts as “values”, “activity”, “intellect” has been performed. This “superposition” results in three combined basic psycho-pedagogical factors (“value education”, “active learning”, “intellectual education”). From this model, it becomes clear what direction correctional officers should work in terms of “developing the consciousness” of the convict, given the factors in question. The novelty of the study is that the work shows specific examples of activities performed by the staff with convicts, which are associated with the implementation of these factors and the impact on the process of resocialization.

Introduction. Transition to civilian life and profession is a pressing demand faced by many Ukrainian ex-combatants. The issue of ex-combatants vocational reintegration is poorly researched and covered. Aim: to explore the features of Ukrainian ex-combatants professional reintegration. Methods: focus groups with further analysis according to ground theory and inductive analysis. Results. Professional reintegration of the Ukrainian ex-combatants who are on the State Employment Service waiting list is characterized by their poor initial professional self-determination, poor physical and/or mental health and external position. Conclusions. The results of the study show that ex-combatants return to a civilian profession is an important part of their social and psychological re-adaptation. The process can be facilitated by special programs to train ex-combatants in finding ways of psychological recovery, motivation, goal-setting and redesigning their negative experiences of the past.

As highly immersive virtual reality (VR) content, 360° video allows users to observe all viewpoints within the desired direction from the position where the video is recorded. In 360° video content, virtual objects are inserted into recorded real scenes to provide a higher sense of immersion. These techniques are called 3D composition. For a realistic 3D composition in a 360° video, it is important to obtain the internal (focal length) and external (position and rotation) parameters from a 360° camera. Traditional methods estimate the trajectory of a camera by extracting the feature point from the recorded video. However, incorrect results may occur owing to stitching errors from a 360° camera attached to several high-resolution cameras for the stitching process, and a large amount of time is spent on feature tracking owing to the high-resolution of the video. We propose a new method for pre-visualization and 3D composition that overcomes the limitations of existing methods. This system achieves real-time position tracking of the attached camera using a ZED camera and a stereo-vision sensor, and real-time stabilization using a Kalman filter. The proposed system shows high time efficiency and accurate 3D composition.
