Abstract Gallium (Ga) nanospheres (NSs) with diameters ranging from 50 to 300 nm are fabricated by using femtosecond laser ablation. The forward scattering of large Ga nanospheres measured using dark-field microscopy is determined by the coherent interaction between dipole and quadrupole resonances while it becomes governed by the dipole resonance when evanescent wave excitation is employed. We demonstrate that the scattering spectrum and pattern of quadrupole of large Ga NS can be resolved by using a cross-polarized analyzer in the collection channel. The experimental observations agree well with the numerical simulation based on the complex refractive index of liquid Ga.

AbstractControlling coherent interaction between optical fields and quantum systems in scalable, integrated platforms is essential for quantum technologies. Miniaturised, warm alkali-vapour cells integrated with on-chip photonic devices represent an attractive system, in particular for delay or storage of a single-photon quantum state. Hollow-core fibres or planar waveguides are widely used to confine light over long distances enhancing light-matter interaction in atomic-vapour cells. However, they suffer from inefficient filling times, enhanced dephasing for atoms near the surfaces, and limited light-matter overlap. We report here on the observation of modified electromagnetically induced transparency for a non-diffractive beam of light in an on-chip, laterally-accessible hollow-core light cage. Atomic layer deposition of an alumina nanofilm onto the light-cage structure was utilised to precisely tune the high-transmission spectral region of the light-cage mode to the operation wavelength of the atomic transition, while additionally protecting the polymer against the corrosive alkali vapour. The experiments show strong, coherent light-matter coupling over lengths substantially exceeding the Rayleigh range. Additionally, the stable non-degrading performance and extreme versatility of the light cage provide an excellent basis for a manifold of quantum-storage and quantum-nonlinear applications, highlighting it as a compelling candidate for all-on-chip, integrable, low-cost, vapour-based photon delay.

We develop theoretical background for the new nonlinear optical phenomenon of narrowly directed monochromatic IR conical emission which has been recently observed when 248-nm UV filaments propagate in xenon (V. D. Zvorykin, et al., Laser Phys. Lett. 13, 125404 (2016)). We treat it as coherent stimulated four-wave mixing process in which two pump KrF laser photons are converted into the coupled pair of resonance IR(828 nm) and VUV (147 nm) photons through 5p5(2P3/2)6p[1/2]0→5p5(2P3/2)6s[3/2]1o and 5p5(2P3/2)6s[3/2]1o→1S0 transitions. We explore the coherent interaction regime which proceeds at a time scale shorter than transverse relaxation time T2. The momentum and energy conservation laws determine the characteristic angle of conical emission. We find that the threshold of this coherent process is determined by the KrF laser pump pulse area.

The article reveals the features of leadership and the effectiveness of communication of the head in terms of psychosynergetics. It was found that the formation of the head of communication skills is statistically significantly correlated with the formation of organizational skills. Thus, managers who have achieved some professional success have a high level of communication and organizational skills, which, in turn, are interdependent and ensure the effectiveness of leadership. Effective communication skills play an important role in the accuracy of achieving goals in management. Within the framework of the value-synergetic approach to the consideration of leadership and the effectiveness of communication of the value leader can be considered as a kind of social attractors that help bring the individual to a fundamentally different path of development; the way of life can also be considered as an open, non-equilibrium system, self-organizing; effective realization of a way of life is provided by coherent interaction of own tendencies of development of the head taking into account the factors and conditions of the social environment promoting personal growth and self-actualization; an event that has a personal meaning, in terms of a synergistic approach can be considered as a certain fluctuation that leads the system to a qualitatively new way of developing the personality of the leader. Key words: leader, leadership, communication, psychosynergetics.
