The purpose of the study is to highlight the policy landscape of the social enterprise which is not spoken in any of the present policies and laws of Bangladesh. This study reviews the existing policies and regulatory affairs related to social enterprise formation and operations in Bangladesh. This study also focuses on the analysis of literature that described the national, regional and international good practices on social enterprise. This study tries to find out the past, present and future insight and findings of social enterprises policy implications in Bangladesh. This study finds the breadth and ranges of the policy approaches that the government has implemented for social enterprise development and policy priority for Bangladesh. Because at present in Bangladesh a social enterprise can establish and operate under different laws as there is no specific policy to register and operate the social enterprise in Bangladesh, so it’s confusing for the social entrepreneur to register under appropriate law that will benefit them in the future. This study is based on the detailed assessment accessible in online literature and current data on social enterprise in Bangladesh, analysis of the existing policies and regulatory affairs on social enterprise in Bangladesh. This study is dependent on the qualitative approach along with the unstructured interviews with the industry experts. This paper presents a solid case study regarding the existing policy and regulatory implications of social enterprise formation and operations in Bangladesh.

• In a world of unequal wealth and incomes, market provision of housing usually fails to provide quality housing options to young and low-income households. Like other necessary goods characterised by monopoly, like healthcare and pharmaceuticals, access to them via pricing creates inherent social challenges.• Historically, the social challenge of unequal access to housing was solved with public intervention to offer non-market housing at lower regulated price to first time buyers and renters.• The proposed HouseMate program is a 21st century housing supplier, copying the best features of Singapore’s successful housing system. • It will sell new homes to eligible Australian citizens at construction cost price, offering them a discounted mortgage, with purchasers able to pay deposit and repayments using their compulsory super contributions. • This new housing alternative will operate in parallel with the private purchase and rental markets. HouseMate owners will have all the rights and obligations of private homeowners, but with a mandatory occupancy period. • The design of HouseMate addresses all the key housing policy challenges in Australia, includingohigh deposit hurdles for first homebuyers,ouncertainty and high rents for low-income households,oyounger households tying up income in super when homeownership is a higher priority for retirement, oprice effects and inefficiencies of demand-only subsidy programs to homebuyers (like FHB grants) and renters (NRAS payments), and olimited innovation of design and construction in private housing markets.• If secure, low-cost housing via homeownership is a policy priority, there is no reason not to try the HouseMate program.

INTRODUCTION: Action on family violence1 remains a policy priority for the New Zealand government. Accordingly, this article explores the Immigration New Zealand’s Victims of Family Violence (VFV) visa. Specifically, it explores possible barriers preventing MELAA2 cultural groups from utilizing the VFV visa.APPROACH: The discussion is based on administrative immigration data, gathered by Immigration New Zealand (INZ), on applicants for VFV visas between July 2010 and March 2021.FINDINGS: Over the last 10 years, INZ received 1,947 applications for the VFV Visa. People of Asian (40%) and Pacific (38%) backgrounds made most of these applications, with India, Fiji, China, the Philippines, and Tonga making up the top five source countries. MELAA communities made only 11% of the total VFV visa applications. Applicants from South Africa, Brazil, Iran, Nigeria, and Argentina made up the top five source MELAA countries. Analyses showed that MELAA applications were mostly work-type visas.IMPLICATIONS: Data presented shows that the VFV visa is still underutilised within these communities. Possible reasons for these notable outcomes are explored in this article, with suggestions for remediating strategies for barriers preventing MELAA communities from utilising the VFV visa. This article concludes that more research is required to gain an in- depth understanding of the specific cultural contexts within which these women engage with this visa.

Happiness levels often fluctuate from one day to the next, and an exogenous shock such as a pandemic can likely disrupt pre-existing happiness dynamics. This paper fits a Marko Switching Dynamic Regression Model (MSDR) to better understand the dynamic patterns of happiness levels before and during a pandemic. The estimated parameters from the MSDR model include each state’s mean and duration, volatility and transition probabilities. Once these parameters have been estimated, we use the one-step method to predict the unobserved states’ evolution over time. This gives us unique insights into the evolution of happiness. Furthermore, as maximising happiness is a policy priority, we determine the factors that can contribute to the probability of increasing happiness levels. We empirically test these models using New Zealand’s daily happiness data for May 2019 –November 2020. The results show that New Zealand seems to have two regimes, an unhappy and happy regime. In 2019 the happy regime dominated; thus, the probability of being unhappy in the next time period (day) occurred less frequently, whereas the opposite is true for 2020. The higher frequency of time periods with a probability of being unhappy in 2020 mostly correspond to pandemic events. Lastly, we find the factors positively and significantly related to the probability of being happy after lockdown to be jobseeker support payments and international travel. On the other hand, lack of mobility is significantly and negatively related to the probability of being happy.

While sustainability has always been an important policy imperative in Singapore, the advent of the Singapore Green Plan 2030 marks a significant development in this regard. Announced in February 2021, the Green Plan represents a concerted national-level strategic shift towards advancing the sustainability agenda in Singapore. With sustainable development now being a ‘major policy priority’, it is inevitable that the Green Plan will have important legal implications, each of which will be identified and analysed in this paper. More broadly, however, the paper also suggests that the Green Plan will open up valuable opportunities for environmental law to receive greater attention and become a mainstream legal discipline in Singapore.

Abstract Although the magnitude and rate of aging in Japan and the United States differ, the drastic change in population structure has resulted in common challenges in both countries. One challenge is assisting older people in staying in the community. Enhancement of home- and community-based care allows older people to remain in their homes or spaces of their choice without moving into an institution to receive necessary care. This symposium includes four presentations (two from Japan and two from the U.S.) examining various efforts surrounding home- and community-based care designed to strengthen older people’s abilities to stay in the community. The presenters will cover a wide range of strategies that have been implemented in both countries. The first presenter will describe the development and delivery of a project to expand Arizona’s dementia capable system. The second presenter will describe initiatives of a professional association of geriatrics to promote the concept of aging in place. The third presenter will discuss the Home Hazard Removal Program (HARP), a new home hazard removal and fall risk self-management program delivered in the home by occupational therapists. The fourth presenter will discuss Japan’s national policy priority of promoting the use of home health care within the community-based integrated care system. The symposium will conclude with a review of similarities and differences of various efforts, summarize common goals and challenges, and identify best practices.

In this article, we explore the impacts, actual and potential, of China’s development experiences upon development thinking and policies elsewhere. New Structural Economics, a theoretical innovation by Professor Justin Yifu Lin drawing on a longer tradition of pragmatic ‘learning by doing’ development strategies, provides a framework in which three agendas stand out: structural transformation as a policy priority; the return of industrial policy; and the use of Special Economic Zones. We integrate related drivers of growth in China: rapid urbanisation pulling in massive rural migration in an economic transformation process; the financing of provincial and city governments by improvised local government financing vehicles based on rising urban land values; and competition and accountability processes in China’s subnational governance system. While China’s experiences cannot be directly replicated elsewhere, we argue that lessons on why and how to achieve structural transformation are relevant for other developing countries, especially in fast urbanising and integrating Africa.


Significance However, like many other important sections in the bill, the funding for new digital infrastructure has been cut drastically. Although digital access is a policy priority, it took a back seat to other, more visible priorities such as bridges. Impacts Local and state governments will take the lead on planning and implementing new digital infrastructure programmes. Companies may reduce their overseas digital infrastructure investment if domestic opportunities promise lower risk and higher returns. Public utilities may lead on developing digital infrastructure in the most rural areas.


Subject Prospects for Venezuela in 2022. Significance President Nicolas Maduro’s administration will enjoy a period of political ascendency following success in this month’s regional government elections. Economic recuperation ahead of the 2024 presidential election will be the policy priority. Opposition parties will be preoccupied with addressing internal factionalism and diminished popular support. The contradictions in US strategy on Venezuela will persist and undermine multilateral dialogue initiatives.
