In comparison to other domains of education, assessment in that of foreign language teaching has some specific features. Testing language skills is unique because language is not only the content but also the tool of measurement. The research team created a bank of items used for testing. This item bank comprises files of items which make it possible to create a great number of subtests. These include terms and professional vocabulary corresponding to real requirements put on employees in practice. Using the item bank, achievement and check tests were created. Thus, from the functional point of view, the diagnostic function prevails. Achievement tests are not only aimed at measuring the success of individual students but also at the success of the teacher. From the point of view of the interpretation of the results, achievement test are predominantly dealt with. These enable cooperation with a real number of items and tested students.

The article presents the concept of all-optical on-board networks (AOON). AOON protocol stack is described, the operation of the transport layer, data link layer and the management layer of the AOON protocol stack is considered in details. The article also describes a software model designed to check the correctness of operation of the AOON protocol stack from a functional point of view, and an example of the developed software model is provided.

Deemed as poorly represented in nature, aurones have been often overlooked by researchers compared to other members of the flavonoid superfamily. However, over the past two decades, they have been reassessed by the scientific community, who are increasingly appreciating their ability to modulate several biological pathways. This review summarizes the recent literature on this class of compounds, which has been analyzed from both a chemical and a functional point of view. Original articles, reviews and editorials featured in Pubmed and Scifinder over the last twenty years have been taken into account to provide the readers with a view of the chemical strategies to obtain them, their functional properties, and their potential of technological use. The resulting comprehensive picture aims at raising the awareness of these natural derivatives as effective drug candidates, fostering the development of novel synthetic analogues.

The Volosovo culture was spread in the center of the European part of Russia in the Late Neolithic-Eneolithic. The artifacts of this culture retrieved from a number of sites include antler rods and curved items of unknown functions. The tracewear analysis conducted by the authors established that these items are parts of composite retouchers used to treat flint tools. The curved items were handles with a slot into which rods used as working parts of the tools were inserted. This design of a retoucher was optimal from the functional point of view. It has survived into ethnographic modernity with almost no changes.

Academic sports pedagogy continuously assures itself of its disciplinary foundations and determines its position in the structure of modern sciences. While communication is based on differences, the distinction between claim and reality plays a crucial role in sports pedagogy. However, the forms and functions in which the distinction appears have not been more closely investigated in sports pedagogic. This article starts with this in mind, exemplarily focusing on academic sports pedagogy in Germany. While analyzing 212 scientific texts of sports-pedagogical provenance, three central variations of the distinction could be identified, which persist until today and are present in the discipline's central discussion lines: (1) hierarchical demarcation, (2) unsystematic approach, (3) direct synthesis. From a functional point of view, the distinction between claim and reality continuously (re)organizes the relationship of sports pedagogy to other scientific disciplines, educational policy guidelines, and school practice expectations, thus proving to be a supporting pillar of disciplinary identity work.

The present research aims to design an automatic fire detection and extinction system, developed with infrared multi-spectrum electro-optical technology with watch-dog timer control, for an electrical transformer from 220KV to 33KV. Upon its development, it is concluded that the automatic detection and extinction system has a deluge system with sprayed water, which will be activated by a detection system with flame sensors, this system has infrared multispectrum Electro-Optical Technology and will be controlled by through the Timer Watch-Dog, which will automatically detect and report any failure in the state-of-theart microprocessor. By subjecting the detection and extinguishing system to operational and functional tests, an optimal response of the deluge sprinklers was obtained, through the pressure and flow parameters, also a coefficient of determination R2 equal to 0.991 is obtained, which represents that the design is optimal, evidencing feasibility from the operational and functional point of view. Keywords— Detection, Extinction, Automatic, ElectroOptical, Multispectral, Infrared, Timer Watch-Dog, Transformer

The replacement of a single maxillary central incisor is a unique prosthodontic challenge from esthetic as well as a functional point of view. Loss of anterior teeth with existing natural diastema presents problems such as increased mesiodistal space available for pontic which makes it very difficult to give conventional fixed prosthesis with rigid connector and wider pontics can be very unesthetic to look in the esthetic zone. This clinical situation is a major challenge for a prosthodontist; leaves him in a dilemma whether to close the space or to maintain it in a final fixed prosthesis simulating the natural tooth appearance. If implant-supported prosthesis is not possible fixed partial denture along with loop connector is the best solution to maintain the existing diastema and esthetics. This article presents a case report where fixed partial denture along with loop connector was used to achieve esthetic rehabilitation in maxillary anterior region maintaining natural existing diastema.

Achieving both esthetics and a perfect seal of the screw-access hole in a screw-retained implant-supported fixed dental restoration is a great challenge. From a functional point of view, a perfect seal needs to be obtained to prevent bacterial contamination along the screw access canal and the occlusion shall be addressed. Such a challenging procedure has to be based on a rational analysis of the different materials used. Screw-retained zirconia-based restorations offer a new perspective for esthetic and biocompatible results. The aim of this article is to describe an easy and reproducible clinical procedure to esthetically seal the screw-access hole of screw-retained implant-supported fixed dental restorations.

In this paper, we study an information flow security property for systems specified as terms of a quantitative Markovian process algebra, namely the Performance Evaluation Process Algebra (PEPA). We propose a quantitative extension of the Non-Interference property used to secure systems from the functional point view by assuming that the observers are able to measure also the timing properties of the system, e.g., the response time of certain actions or its throughput. We introduce the notion of Persistent Stochastic Non-Interference (PSNI) based on the idea that every state reachable by a process satisfies a basic Stochastic Non-Interference (SNI) property. The structural operational semantics of PEPA allows us to give two characterizations of PSNI: one based on a bisimulation-like equivalence relation inducing a lumping on the underlying Markov chain, and another one based on unwinding conditions which demand properties of individual actions. These two different characterizations naturally lead to efficient methods for the verification and construction of secure systems. A decision algorithm for PSNI is presented and an application of PSNI to a queueing system is discussed.
