As people age, they are more likely to develop multiple chronic diseases and experience a decline in some of their physical and cognitive functions, leading to the decrease in their ability to live independently. Innovative technology-based interventions tailored to older adults’ functional levels and focused on healthy lifestyles are considered imperative. This work proposed a framework of active and healthy ageing through the integration of a broad spectrum of digital solutions into an open Pan-European technological platform in the context of the SHAPES project, an EU-funded innovation action. In conclusion, the SHAPES project can potentially engage older adults in a holistic technological ecosystem and, therefore, facilitate the maintenance of a high-quality standard of life.

Inclusive education means educating students with special needs in an age-appropriate general education setting where students receive high-quality, standard-based instructions, interventions, and support that enable them to experience success in the general education classroom. Effective pedagogical practices involve the collaboration of both special education teacher and general education teacher to identify and implement effective teaching practices which enhance student engagement and promote higher-order thinking skills. Special education teacher supports the general education teacher in adapting curriculum and teaching methods, modifying assessments, and providing accommodations to students with disabilities in inclusive classrooms. Effective pedagogical practices are affected by teacher's belief; students' disabilities; and their roles and responsibilities towards the students with disabilities. This chapter examines previous researches and studies that investigate effective pedagogical practices in inclusive classrooms for students with disabilities.

AbstractThe present procedural guidelines summarize the current views of the EANM Neuro-Imaging Committee (NIC). The purpose of these guidelines is to assist nuclear medicine practitioners in making recommendations, performing, interpreting, and reporting results of [18F]FDG-PET imaging of the brain. The aim is to help achieve a high-quality standard of [18F]FDG brain imaging and to further increase the diagnostic impact of this technique in neurological, neurosurgical, and psychiatric practice. The present document replaces a former version of the guidelines that have been published in 2009. These new guidelines include an update in the light of advances in PET technology such as the introduction of digital PET and hybrid PET/MR systems, advances in individual PET semiquantitative analysis, and current broadening clinical indications (e.g., for encephalitis and brain lymphoma). Further insight has also become available about hyperglycemia effects in patients who undergo brain [18F]FDG-PET. Accordingly, the patient preparation procedure has been updated. Finally, most typical brain patterns of metabolic changes are summarized for neurodegenerative diseases. The present guidelines are specifically intended to present information related to the European practice. The information provided should be taken in the context of local conditions and regulations.

AbstractSpike detection for raw high-frequency eddy covariance time series is a challenging task because of the confounding effect caused by complex dynamics and the high level of noise affecting such data. To cope with these features, a new despiking procedure rooted on robust functionals is proposed. By processing simulated data, it is demonstrated that the proposed procedure performs better than the existing algorithms and can be therefore considered as a candidate for the implementation in data center environmental monitoring systems, where the availability of automatic procedures ensuring a high quality standard of released products constitutes an essential prerequisite.

Interest in measuring displacement gradients, such as rotation and strain, is growing in many areas of geophysical research. This results in an urgent demand for reliable and field-deployable instruments measuring these quantities. In order to further establish a high-quality standard for rotation and strain measurements in seismology, we organized a comparative sensor test experiment that took place in November 2019 at the Geophysical Observatory of the Ludwig-Maximilians University Munich in Fürstenfeldbruck, Germany. More than 24 different sensors, including three-component and single-component broadband rotational seismometers, six-component strong-motion sensors and Rotaphone systems, as well as the large ring laser gyroscopes ROMY and a Distributed Acoustic Sensing system, were involved in addition to 14 classical broadband seismometers and a 160 channel, 4.5 Hz geophone chain. The experiment consisted of two parts: during the first part, the sensors were co-located in a huddle test recording self-noise and signals from small, nearby explosions. In a second part, the sensors were distributed into the field in various array configurations recording seismic signals that were generated by small amounts of explosive and a Vibroseis truck. This paper presents details on the experimental setup and a first sensor performance comparison focusing on sensor self-noise, signal-to-noise ratios, and waveform similarities for the rotation rate sensors. Most of the sensors show a high level of coherency and waveform similarity within a narrow frequency range between 10 Hz and 20 Hz for recordings from a nearby explosion signal. Sensor as well as experiment design are critically accessed revealing the great need for reliable reference sensors.

The purpose of the study is to examine the opinion of the medical community on the need for further training on matters relating to drug policy (as a dynamic and rapidly changing area of healthcare policy bearing on the work of a number of healthcare specialists) and the attitudes to web-based forms of further training. The study was conducted among healthcare professionals (healthcare professionals means graduates in medicine and/or pharmacy – physicians, dentists, pharmacists and healthcare professionals and managers etc. who practice their occupation applying the set of regulatory standards governing drug policy) from three Balkan countries – Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia – who have completed a dedicated survey. Participation in the survey was voluntary and the polling was conducted on the basis of the ‘snowballing’ technique for survey dissemination and recruitment of respondents. The statistical processing of collected data relied on a correlational descriptive and regression analysis. The results reveal that respondents are aware of the need and are willing to pursue possibilities for further training on matters relating to drug policy. The correlational analysis has revealed interesting further data. A statistically significant negative correlation has been established between knowledge assessment and the method of updating and upgrading knowledge on matters relating to drug policy. The data suggests that according to the respondents self-learning and attending courses led by trainers who are subject-matter experts increases the evaluation of knowledge in the area of drug policy (rho = 0.-631, р = 0.002). Furthermore, the greater frequency of additional training events to improve current levels of knowledge is also a factor that increases self-assessment of being up to date on the latest developments in this area (rho = 0.577, р = 0.006). There is a need for further training in the area of drug policy and the preferred form of this type of training are the online and physical training events by guest trainers conducted by medical schools. In order to ensure that training conforms to a high-quality standard, a test should be taken at the end and a certificate attesting to the training should be issued as a quality assurance guarantee. Keywords: Postgraduate training/drug policy, medical specialists.

Background: Visual impairment can hinder achieving developmental markers in children. Various studies have examined the effectiveness of play therapy in children with visual impairment. However, lack of a comprehensive review study that examined the characteristics and overall effectiveness of these interventions, led to conducting of the present study. Objectives: This study aimed to provide strong evidence on the characteristics and efficacy of play therapy interventions in children and adolescents (0-21 years) with visual impairment. Methods: Our literature searching was done with English and Persian keywords obtained from Mesh in the Cochrane, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Magiran, Iran Medex, Iranian Archive for Scientific Documents Center (IASD), Iranian National Library (INL), Google and Google Scholar, until 2020. The selection process of articles was according to PRISMA. Text data was analyzed by convention content analysis. Additionally, the modified Downs and Black Checklist was used to assess the quality of primary studies. Results: From 1763 articles, finally nine were analyzed which met the inclusion criteria. The major findings were presented in the categories of on participants, implementation, measurements, and efficacy of interventions. All subjects were with visual impairment, without severe physical or cognitive impairment. Play interventions were done by children, or with operational children and their caregivers or parents. Play therapy interventions were in two forms of computer/video based game and child-therapist/parent based game, which were conducted in different settings resembling home, school, or sport camp conditions. Data were gathered by observation of researchers and reports of children using different questionnaires. All of the interventions were effective in improving cognitive, visual, physical, communicative and vestibular skills of the children. Conclusions: Despite the comprehensive efficacy of play therapy intervention in children with visual impairment, few studies have been conducted in this field. Considering multi-biases such as missing control of confounders, more high quality standard studies are needed to further evaluate the effectiveness of play therapy in children with visual impairments.
