Abstract Bioluminescence is widespread in the marine environment. The bioluminescence of some species of the fireworm Odontosyllis (Annelida: Syllidae: Eusyllinae) has been well studied, although the presence or absence of bioluminescence in most species of this genus is yet to be revealed. The bioluminescent worms were observed after sunset around the new moon day in July and October 2020 and in July to October 2021 in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Molecular phylogenetic analysis based on two mitochondrial and one nuclear gene sequence showed that the worms were closely related to Odontosyllis australiensis, but the partial 16S rRNA gene sequences differed by 2% between those of the Japanese and Australian material. Because only epitokes, i.e. morphologically modified sexually mature worms, were collected, further studies on morphological characters of atokes would be required in the future. We therefore tentatively refer to them as Odontosyllis cf. australiensis. Molecular phylogenetic analysis also showed that known bioluminescent Odontosyllis species belong to various lineages.

K.H. A. Muhammad Isa was very instrumental in spreading the teachings of moderate Islam in South Cianjur. Practically, he took moderate steps as the best effort to address the differences in views between the conservative and modernist camps in responding to the changing times. He was very instrumental in translating the syarah texts of Arabic books, making them easy to understand and widespread among the Ulama of Cianjur Regency. He is also a Falak Ulama and a member of the Hisab and Rukyat Agency the Ministry Religion of the Republic Indonesia, thus making him always involved with the Ministry Religion of the Republic Indonesia in determining the new moon and one Shawwal. This paper tries to reveal the progress of K.H. A. Muhammad Isa in the Embodiment of moderate Islam in South Cianjur. To obtain valid data, the method used in this research is a historical research method, which is a systematic procedure or technique with the principles and rules of History. The technique in question includes several steps, including: selection of sources (heuristics), internal and external criticism (verification), data analysis and interpretation (interpretation), and presentation in written form (historiography). With this paper, future generations of Muslims are expected to be able to take role models from the figures discussed and be able to represent the attitude of religious moderation as a pillar of national integration; the creation of a tolerant and harmonious religious life so as not to cause national disintegration.

The aim of this research is to determine the translation procedures of directive illocutionary acts ‘order’ found in the novel New Moon translated into Indonesian. The method in collecting the data using several steps, such as: note-taking, identifying the data, arranging the data, and classifying the data in the form of a table. The analysis uses the theory of translation procedures proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet in Venuti (2000) and the theory of directive illocutionary acts that are proposed by Searle (1969). The finding of the research is that there is directive illocutionary acts ‘suggest’ found in the novel “New Moon.” Secondly, the types of translation procedures that are found in the novel are only two out of seven procedures obtained from the novel namely; literal translation, and transposition.

A frequency reconfigurable multi-band MIMO antenna is presented in this study. The single antenna consists of only one PIN diode that can change antenna operating frequencies from different quad-band to another one. Their bands not only cover the popular NB-IoT bands such as 900MHz, 1.8GHz, 2.4GHz for  Z-Wave, ZigBee, RFID, GSM communication but also contain 5G IoT bands which are 2.4GHz, 2.6 GHz and 5GHz for LTE-A, 802.11n, ac, and 5G below 10GHz. Basing on the complex structure of ring and new moon shape, the single antenna achieves a compact size of 30 mm x 30 mm x 1.6 mm which is about 76% reduction compared to a conventional ring antenna at 900MHz. Besides, a structure of gradient arcs is proposed to decrease mutual coupling among closed-spaced elements of MIMO antenna for the distance of 0.033l at the lower band from edge to edge. The proposed antennas are analyzed by CST software, VNA measurement, and IEEE 802.11 USB Adapter that the simulated, measured as well as experimental results are agreed well.

Human behavior appeared to be influenced by lunar phase. Crimes still committed despite the government efforts to prevent and suppress it. Some authors claimed that the moon of the solar system affect the human body and the planet earth. The term lunacy derived from the idea that the lunar cycles affect human behavior and it is a widely believed phenomenon that a full moon can increase criminal behavior. This study aimed to determine the relationship between lunar phases and crimes committed in the two cities of Dipolog and Dapitan. Documentary analysis and unstructured interviews were conducted to gather information. The data were taken from the reported crimes in the two police stations. Statistical tools used were frequency count and chi-square test of both difference and relationships respectively. The most common index crimes were theft, physical injury and threat. Whereas, non-index crimes were malicious mischief and violations to RA 7610 and RA 9262. Results revealed that most of the index crimes happened during the first quarter and during new moon phase. Non-index crimes on the other hand, happened at any lunar phase. The occurrence of index and non-index crimes are likely to be influenced by the lunar phases. Philippine National Police might set-up additional preventive measures to prevent would be criminals from committing theft, physical injury and threat. Police presence be increased more during first quarter and new moon phases to prevent occurrence of crime as well as implement intensive community policing program to protect the community from untoward crime incidence.

Sea cucumbers are marine organisms that live in coral reef ecosystem habitats and their associations. Sea cucumbers have been used by communities as food, cosmetics and traditional medicine in various countries. The benefits and high economic value of sea cucumbers make fisheries activities occured massively and continuously. Sea cucumbers were large commodity from Indonesian waters. However, until now it has not received proportional attention. The lack of information on morphometry, spawning in various regions has made the commodity of sea cucumbers decreased. This research was conducted to determine the character of commercial sea cucumber commodities in Pulau Nyamuk, to the occurrence of spawning based on the moon phase. This research was conducted in September - November 2020. This research method uses an analysis approach of gonadal maturity index in determining the spawning of sea cucumbers. The results showed that commercial sea cucumbers in Pulau Nyamuk were Pisang (Holothuria sp.) and Gamat (Stichopus sp.) Sea cucumber. This sea cucumber weighs 300-690 grams wet. Sea Cucumbers, Pisang and Gamat tend to have high IKG values in the new moon phase with IKG index values >10%.

The present study is aimed at evaluating the radiation profile along the coast of the Poompuhar- Nagore range, which is known to be hydrodynamically active and is enriched with anthropogenic activities. The study of radiation on the coastal belt and evaluating their dynamics (magnitude and spatio-temporal variability) is crucial both for the coastal inhabitants as well as possible exploration of rare-earth minerals. The effective gamma radiation during the new moon along the coastal range varies between 0.9 to 3.55 ?sv.h-1, respectively. The annual equivalent dose is estimated up to gamma radiation of 0.26 to 2.80 ?sv.h-1. Generally, the concentrations of the gamma radiation measured are elevated in certain areas namely Chinnagudi, Kuttiyandiyur, and Chandrapadi. In particular, the gamma radioactivity is high at Chandrapadi and Chinnagudi during the new moon as it shows considerable amounts of radiation. There is a definite variation due to the moon phase on the gamma radiation profile of the area studied. Out of the eight coastal villages under study, about 60% of the coastal line shows high levels of gamma radiation during both new moon and full moon phases.

AbstractVery little is known about the ecology and biology of the smallest marine vertebrates, fishes in the genus Schindleria. Even though over half of named Schindleria species have been identified in the Red Sea, the collection of only very few specimens has been documented. Here, we assessed abundance patterns of nearly two thousand Red Sea long dorsal fin (LDF) adults and found evidence for putative seasonal and spatial differences, likely related to differing habitat and environmental conditions. The highest abundances were outside local seasonal temperature extremes and decoupled from peaks of coral reef fish recruitment. We also found evidence for global trends in abundances related to lunar cycles using our Red Sea data and that from a recently published large collection of specimens from the DANA Expedition (1928–1930). The abundance of adult LDF Schindleria in relation to lunar phases differed significantly, with most Schindleria caught outside the full moon, and mostly during the new moon in the Red Sea and the 3rd quarter moon in the DANA collection. We further suggest that the abundances of Schindleria at coral reefs may be related to reproductive cycles and that these cycles may be timed with the moon as back-calculations of hatch dates from otoliths from the Red Sea significantly resulted after the new moon, making Schindleria the fastest-lived coral reef fish with the shortest generation times. Schindleria could be the most numerous coral reef fish in the world, for which we encourage increased research.

Light pollution is a worldwide problem that affects fewer stars that can be seen at night. This study aims to measure the brightness of the sky in the zenith direction to minimize the effect of light pollution in observing celestial bodies. The research used the observation method of sky brightness level with SQM. Measurement of sky brightness was carried out in two places, namely in Medan and Serdang Bedagai. The SQM is mounted in a zenith direction and set to retrieve data every two seconds. Observations were made on November 10-13, 2018, during the new moon phase. The average value of sky brightness obtained in Medan is 18.05 mpsas and the NELM value is 4.00. Based on the Bortle scale, Medan is included in the ninth class area, namely the inner-city sky. Meanwhile, the average value of sky brightness obtained in Serdang Bedagai is 19.69 mpsas and the NELM value is 5.26. Based on the Bortle scale, Serdang Bedagai belongs to the sixth class area, namely bright suburban sky.
