Abstract: A one-pot conversion of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthoic aldehyde to hydroxamic acid was described. An efficient photoorganocatalytic method of synthesis was developed. The obtained hydroxamic acid was identified by various physicochemical methods such as IR, UV- and NMR-spectroscopy. Solid colored complexes of copper (II) and iron (II), respectively, green and brown colours with the obtained hydroxamic acid were synthesized in ethanol medium for the first time. The molar ratio of ligand and metal in the complex was 2:1. Their structures were established using IR, UV- spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.

The mixing of one mole of 2,2'-bipyridine-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid (bpdc) with two mole of potassium hydroxide (KOH) in methanol were refluxed for (half hour), followed by addition of one mole methanol solution of MCl2.nH2O (where M=Co, Ni or Cu). The mixture was refluxed for (2 hours) to give colored complexes of the metal ions of [M(bpdc)(H2O)4]. The [M(bpdc)(H2O)4] were reacted with one mole of 2-Mercapto-5-phenyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole (phozSH) producing the colored mixed ligand complexes with general formula [M(bpdc)(phozSH)(H2O)3] in which the metal ions coordinated to the ligand through O-atoms of carboxyl group in (bpdc) and N-atom of (phozSH) ligand. The ligands and complexes are well identified by using Furrier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, Electronic spectroscopy, CHNS analysis, Melting point, conductivity measurement. The Antioxidant activity were screened for all the complexes by the use of 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method.

Reaction of 2 moles of (MTP) with one mole of MCl2 gave colored complexes with general formula; [M(MTP)2Cl2]. [M = Ni+2, Pd+2, and Pt+2]. All synthesized complexes are well-characterized using, FT-IR, 1HNMR, 13C NMR, UV-Vis. Spectra furthermore of magnetic susceptibility, C,H,N analysis, and molar conductivity. The results illustrated that divalent metal ions were coordinated with the ligands through nitrogen atoms in square planar spatial arrangements. The complexes were screened for their cytotoxicity effects versus MCF-7 cell line and showed that [Pt(MTP)2Cl2] complex has good cytotoxicity in comparison with the other complexes.

Objective: The present study is aimed to find a three simple, low cost, accurate, rapid, and sensitive spectrophotometric methods based on the formation of ternary complexes to assay methyldopa (MTD) in both pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms. Methods: The suggested complexation procedure is based on the formation of ternary complex among MTD, 2-aminopyridine (2-Amp), and different metal cations such as [Fe(III), Mn(II), and Co(II)] to form three complexes of Fe(III)-MTD-2-Amp (A), Mn(II)-MTD-2-Amp (B), and Co(II)-MTD-2-Amp (C) in an aqueous medium. Results: The obtained colored complexes are spectrophotometrically measured for the previously mentioned complexes at 572, 473, and 465 nm, respectively. Under optimum conditions, the complexes exhibited apparent, molar absorptivities of 1810.62, 2954.18, and 2596.8 l/mol/cm, Sandell’s sensitivity of 0.132, 0.08, and 0.092 μg/cm2, and Beer–Lambert’s law is obeyed over the ranges 4–40, 4–32, and 4–40 μg/ml for the three developed methods, respectively. Conclusion: The developed spectrophotometric methods showed excellent results in regard to accuracy and precision with recovery of 99.48±1.62%, 100.24±1.76%, and 100.72±1.65% of the complexes A, B, and C, respectively. The obtained results are compared statistically with a reported method with respect to t- and F-tests and the calculated results displayed no significant difference.

The one-pot synthesis reaction of one mole MCl2.nH2O, where M= Co(II), Ni(II), Mn(II) ,with one mole of 1,5-diphenylthiocarbazone (dithizone;H2dz), of 1,1-bis(diphenyl phosphine)ferrocene (dppf) and 1,2-bis(diphenyl phosphine) ethane (dppe) gave colored complexes of; [Co(Hdz)(k2-dppf)]Cl, [Ni(Hdz)(k2-dppf)]Cl, [Ni(Hdz)(k2-dppe)]Cl and [Mn(Hdz)(k2-dppf)]Cl. The synthesized complexes have been identified by using 1HNMR, IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, micro elemental analysis and molar conductance. All complexes were tested for their anticancer activities on Human breast cancer cell line CAL5. The results showed that [Ni(Hdz)(k2-dppe)]Cl and[Mn(Hdz)(k2-dppf)]Cl have a highest activities than cisplatin in compared to; [Co(Hdz)(k2-dppf)]Cl, [Ni(Hdz)(k2-dppf)]Cl.

Proposed are simple and available techniques that can be used for rapid and reliable environmental control specifically of natural water by means of instrumental and visual tests in outdoor conditions. Developed are the chemical colorimetric modes for fast detection of socially dangerous trace impurities in water such as Co(II), Pd(II), and Rh(III) as well asNO2--ions and Fe(III) serving as model impurities. Application of portable digital devices and scanner allows estimating the color coordinates and increasing the accuracy and sensitivity of the tests. The combination of complex formation with preconcentration of colored complexes replaces the sensitive but time-consuming and capricious kinetic method that is usually used for this purpose at the more convenient and reliable colorimetric method. As the test tools, the following ones are worked out: polyurethane foam tablets with sorbed colored complexes, the two-layer paper sandwich packaged in slide adapter and saturated by reagents, and polyethylene terephthalate blister with dried reagents. Fast analysis of polyurethane foam tablets is realized using a pocket digitalRGB-colorimeter or portable photometer. Express analysis of two-layer paper sandwich or polyethylene terephthalate blister is realized by visual and instrumental tests. The metrological characteristics of the developed visual and instrumental express analysis techniques are estimated.

AbstractThe development of a sensor based on the functionalization of common filter paper with deferoxamine (DFO) is proposed with the prospect to produce a solid phase for iron(III) and vanadium(V) sensing. The main features of this sensor are the simplicity of operation, good sensitivity and feasible applicability to real samples without the need of pre-treatment procedures. DFO was selected not only for it is easily anchored to the solid support, but also because it forms colored complexes with iron(III) and vanadium(V); hence, the developing of a simple colorimetric sensor can be considered. In particular, an innovative and economic way to perform colorimetric measurements using a desktop scanner is described. A complete characterization of the functionalized material is also reported.
