CHALLENGES FACING INSURANCE BROKERS IN KENYA

Purpose: The insurance industry, like other industries, has faced obstacles that have threatened its productivity, profitability, and capacity to compete against its rivals. The objective of this study to identify and discuss the challenges facing insurance brokers in Kenya. The aim of this work is to enable the readers understand the various challenges facing insurance brokers and their impact on the insurance industry. Methodology: A desktop literature review was used for this purpose. Relevant seminal references and journal articles for the study were identified using Google Scholar. The inclusion criteria entailed papers that were not over five years old. Findings: The study concluded that customer experience & satisfaction, workflow inefficiency, uncertainties in the market, unfavorable government regulation, cybersecurity risk and lead generation are some of the challenges that affect insurance brokers in Kenya. These challenges have greatly been influenced by the ever-changing technology that has revolutionized the workforce labour and business activities generally in all organizations and government influence on the regulations set by the Insurance Regulatory Authority. Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The study therefore recommended that insurance brokers should embrace the use of well-developed digital services that will enable them service their customers efficiently and meet their needs while the Insurance Regulatory Authority should come up with strategies that will help mitigate the unfavorable government regulations that affect insurance brokers.

Does the party in power affect FDI? First causal evidence from narrow margin US state elections

Does the party of government influence the amount and type of inward foreign investment? Correlational studies provide inconsistent evidence. Moreover no existing study, for any level of government or any jurisdiction, uses methods that allow for causal inference. We apply regression discontinuity methods to a set of narrow margin US gubernatorial elections. Over the course of a 4-year term the election of a Republican governor causes a 17% boost in the growth of manufacturing-oriented FDI stock, compared to a Democrat. However, the same approach provides no evidence that partisanship matters for the overall level of FDI.

Legal Form of Central Government Influence on Economic Situation of the Russian Federation Subjects

Existing state-legal institutions, within the framework of which influence of the center on the economic situation of the regions is performed, are considered. Degree of freedom of the federal center in decision making concerning economic support of this or that subject of the Federation and its subordination to objective criteria is analyzed.

Exploring Issues in Transnational Sport History

Increasingly, sport has become an important lens through which to examine the historical influences of, and issues related to, transnational interactions and exchanges, yet the term “transnational” remains beset with disagreement regarding its precise meaning and definition. Commonly, transnational approaches to the historical study of sport provide opportunities to reach beyond “the nation,” whereby the nation–state is not positioned, necessarily, as the central category of analysis in discussions of cultural exchange between or across nations and borders. In such analyses, nonstate actors—essentially, those working outside of government influence—can move from the periphery to the center of focus. Challenging the dominant narrative of much historical research into globalization in sport that has tended to dwell on the negative, transnational approaches, as evidenced in this collection, offer new opportunities to consider positive, progressive, and co-operative aspects inherent to the connections and exchanges examined.
