The outbreak of the Corona virus has rapidly escalated globally as a Pandemic. Due to the characteristic dental setup & procedures the risk of cross infection is sky high not only to the Dental health care personnel but also to the patients. During this time utilizing digital resources to assist patients can be of great advantage. Doing less invasive procedures with more protection and screening can be the finest way to battle the situation. This pandemic situation provides an unprecedented opportunity for the dental community to shift the practice towards the use of Teledentistry. Teledentistry may overcome the obstacle in providing sufficient oral health services comfortably during the current pandemic situation. Although the world of Dentistry has many challenges the main aim is to provide value-based dental care and exploit the tremendous potential of Telecommunication services & other virtual and digital alternatives to confront the challenges that are faced due to infection control, lack of awareness etc. Keywords: Artificial intelligence,COVID-19, Dentistry, Pandemic, Teledentistry.

Most of Indonesians suffer from dental caries. This is due to bad dental health maintenance. Although in fact, dental caries is a preventable disease. Dental and oral hygiene that is not maintained will cause various dental diseases that will affect general health, although it does not cause death directly, but is also a risk factor for other diseases including: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis media, low birth weight (LBW) , and even heart disease. We undertook this research by evaluating the influence of dental health care towards elementary school children. The subjects are fifth grade in SD Saraswati 4 Denpasar, Indonesia. There are control and intervention groups in this research. The treatment for control group was given leaflet and intervention group was given dental health care with the provision of dental therapist. We evaluate the influence on knowledge, attitude, practice and Debris Index score. The analysis using bivariate test employed Wilcoxon test and univariate test employed Mann-Whitney test. The results show that in intervention group, there is influence of dental health care on knowledge, attitude, practice and Debris Index score of the students. Meanwhile in control group, there is influence on knowledge and attitude but no influence on practice and Debris Index score. Mann-Whitney test shows that there are significant differences in knowledge and attitude, but no significant practice and Debris Index score in intervention and control group. The Debris Index criteria of the intervention group are 100% good with the treatment of dental health care.

Abrahim Flexner, considered “Father of Modernday Medical Education” about a century ago revolutionized entire Health Education & Service Structure bypublishing his shivering report based on standards, resulted in closure of compromised academic institutes and transformed the entire USA/Canadian Health Sector, including Dentistry. His report strongly demanded, appropriate knowledge and skills application to avoid compromised patient care, as the most important aspect required for ailing humanity and this also includes oral/ dental health care. We feel that the current Dental Education Pakistan (DEP) also needs similarreports to attain excellence & “globalization” to be at par with international standards.

The COVID-19 Pandemic forced immediate changes in how dental academicians must teach dental student doctors’ hands-on acquisition of Dental Auxiliary Utilization (DAU) principles. The Clinical Dental Assistants’ (CDAs) presence was reduced drastically in their clinical access during patient care in the distal part of the Spring Semester 2020 and the early months of the Fall Semester of 2020. The substantive and necessary limitations for safety in the academic setting and societal dental health care needs have reduced student doctors’ opportunities to utilize clinical dental assistants (CDAs) for DAU. CDAs’ value in an academic dental care milieu is paramount to student doctors’ successful transition from the preclinical to clinical and ultimately transition to private clinical practices.

Introduction: Antibiotic resistance is definitely one of the most dreaded outcomes of injudicious use of antibiotics in a developing country like India. The prevalence of Over the counter (OTC) availability of antibiotics has also contributed to this bane and burden of antibiotic resistance in our country. Aim: The aim of this survey based study was to examine the knowledge on antibiotic usage, resistance, attitudes, perceptions and practices among dental health care providers using an online survey. Methods and Methodology: An Eighteen point online close ended questionnaire based survey was conducted amongst 100 randomly selected postgraduate stu- dents in various dental specialities from our institution, whereby their Knowledge, attitude and Practice regard- ing antibiotic resistance and usage was assessed. The questionnaire was designed to include demographic information of the participants along with questions based on frequency of antibiotic usage, resistance and interest of participants to attend educational seminars as a part of continuing education. Results: 76.47% participants agreed that antibiotic resis- tance is a major public health burden in India and glob- ally. Participants who had never attended seminars on antibiotic resistance were 82.35% and 89.41% were willing to attend seminars. Conclusions: Our survey showed few mis-prescriptions of antibiotics in cases of resistance to penicillin groups of drugs and use of broad versus narrow spectrum antibiotics. However, the overall awareness and prescription protocols were appropriate, thereby concluding that post graduates had a good knowledge of antibiotics, their use and risks involved.
