This chapter focusses on the appearance and implementation of process standards in software development organizations. The authors are interested in the way organizations handle the plurality of process standards. Organizations respond by metastructuring to the increasing demand for standardizing their development processes. Standards metastructuring summarizes all organizational mechanisms for facilitating the ongoing adaption of global standards to the organizational context. Based on an in-depth single case study of a software developing organization in the automotive technology sector, the authors found four areas of metastructuring, four roles for standard mediation, and four types of metastructuring activities. With the case study, they encourage further research that proves standards in use and how organizations respond to the challenges of standardization.

Abstract This paper deals with the usage of the injection mould made from the plastic material. This technology is rapidly decreasing the time, necessary to the production of the prototype. This attribute takes nowadays a key role in the industry, especially in the automotive. Technology of using injection moulds from the plastic material (produced by additive technologies) has advantages in the decreasing of the time demands and cost reduction during the production of the prototype part. Unfortunately, plastic moulds have worse surface quality, lower lifetime of the mould (measured in number of produced parts) and more difficulties of moulding process regulation with respect to the metal moulds. This paper is focused on the injection process and it is describing the thermal distribution and specification of the comparable plastic specimen during injection into the metal and plastic mould. The results are the temperature and cycle-times comparisons. The effectivity of cooling is also compared in this work. It is obvious, that the plastic mould has worse results compared to the metal mould. However, this is clearly balanced by the speed of production and price of plastic mould. The prototype of the plastic mould was made from the material PA12GB with usage of 3D printer HP MJF4200

The main purpose of this study was to determined competency training needs of polytechnic Pre-service technicians for diagnosis and repairs of modern automobiles in North-Eastern Nigeria. The study sought to answer two research questions using Competency Outcome Performance Assessment (COPA) model framework. It is paramount importance to note that competency training needs of diagnosis and repairs of modern cars requires practical and effective training skills to be able to adequately repair them. A descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population for the study was made up of 384 technicians in automotive technology in the NBTE accredited polytechnics in Northern Nigeria. Out of 384 a sample of 192 was randomly selected for the study. The questionnaire consisted of 192 tasks on diagnosis and repairs skills needed, developed with reference to curriculum of National Automobile Technician Education (NATE) and National Vocational Certificate in Automotive / Mechatronics approved by National Board for Technical Education. The questionnaire was divided into two sections: A & B, (see Appendix I). Section A contains items designed to obtain personal information of the respondents, while section B is divided into four sub-sections (I, II, III & IV). The instrument was developed using COPA Model structure, adapted from Lenburge et al (2009). A four-point rating scale ranges from Highly Needed (HN) = 4, Needed (N) = 3, Moderately Needed (MN) = 2, Least Needed (LN) = 1 was employed in sub-section I, while four-point rating scaled ranges from most relevant (4), highly relevant (3), moderately relevant (2) and less relevant. A reliability test of the instrument was also conducted and analyzed using Cronbach Alpha coefficient method and yielded an overall reliability coefficient of 0.80. Data generated from the use of the questionnaire was analyzed with Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 23rd version software using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions. Findings revealed relevant interactive strategies needed in the training of polytechnic Pre-service Technicians in diagnosis and repairs of modern Automobiles. Based on the findings of the study, appropriate recommendations were made, among which is, that the identified modern technology skills should be integrated into the curriculum of Automotive Technology programme in Nigerian polytechnic. Identified interactive skills will help lecturers in developing lesson plan using the competencies that are essentially needed by Pre-service automotive technicians in order for them to prepare on how to teach them appropriately.

The lean-agile approach has already been adopted by several industries such as automotive, technology, apparel and construction. However, despite several studies pointing to its benefits, in construction the use of this approach still suffers from many cultural resistances. Having in mind that the adoption of the lean-agile approach is something that can benefit construction companies, this article aims to demonstrate the practical application of tools and techniques that encompass this approach. Through a single case study using the participant observation technique in a Construction company located in the city of Campos dos Goytacazes, it has been collected and analyzed data from the application of the lean-agile approach in a set of 15 constructions. Thus, this article intends to contribute to the advancement of studies of the lean-agile approach by sharing the practices applied in this research, so that such practices can serve in the future as an input for the development of a lean-agile project management standardized model in the construction field, something that is still little discussed in the literature.

At the end of the 19th-century three technologies had emerged as sources of motive power for the automobile: steam, internal combustion, and electric motors. In 1900, in the United States and around the world, each of these powered a roughly equal number of automobiles. Thus, the early period of automobile development offers fertile ground for the study of technological path choice. At that time, it appeared that the electric motor was poised to become the dominant automotive technology. However, the internal combustion engine achieved this status instead. Although a large number of studies have examined the history of the automobile with a view to determining the reasons for the emergence of the internal combustion engine as the dominant technology for the car engine (especially its choice over the electric motor), no consensus has emerged of what the critical factors were. A close reexamining of the history allows us to identify the years 1900-1904 as the period during which the automobile’s technological path was determined. A review of the conditions prevailing during this period and the stages of development of the sociotechnical systems in which each of the alternative automotive technologies was embedded helps us identify the aspiration for touring as the key factor fixing the path for the technological development of the automobile from that point on.

Background: : nowadays, the natural fibers are used in all industrial fields, particular in automotive technology and in civil engineering. this great emergence due to its biodegradability, recyclability and has no environmental effect. Objective: In this article, the effect of raffia, alfa and sisal fibers on the damage of biocomposite materials (raffia/PLA (polylactic acid), alfa/PLA and sisal/PLA), subjected to the same mechanical shear stress, has been investigated. Method: To calculate the damage to the interface, the genetic operator crossing are employed based on the fiber and matrix damage. Result: The results have shown that the raffia / PLA and alfa/PLA biocomposite materials are the better mechanical properties compared to sisal / PLA, this observation has been confirmed by the different values of interface damage of the biocomposite studied. Conclusion: The numerical results are similar and coincide perfectly with the results of Cox where he demonstrated that the Young's modulus of fibers improves the resistance of the interface. These conclusions are in very good agreement with our numerical data presented by the red cloud, and also in good agreement with the work presented by Antoine Le Duigou et al. and the work of Bodros et al. have shown that natural fibers greatly improve the physical characteristics of composite materials.
