Purpose This study aims to examine the effect of supply chain agility (SCA) on operational performance (OP) measurements of steel manufacturing firms. It also investigates the role of cost efficiencies concerning enhance OPs. Design/methodology/approach The study is based on an experimental research design by collecting data from responses 398 responses of key officials of India’s steel manufacturing firms. Analyses are carried to explore this modern concept with the help of Smart-partial least square (PLS) version 3.3.2 with confirmatory factor analysis and PLS structural equational modelling. Findings SCA factor (SCAF) directly has influenced the firm’s OP. It also represents cost efficiencies that have partial mediation between the SCAF and OP. The impact of cost efficiencies on OPs is strongly significant as compared to the impact of SCAF on cost efficiencies. Practical implications Management teams in the manufacturing industry should stress the role of SCA as a comprehensive concept in responding to market needs in a volatile environment. SCA reflects one of its winning strategies in today’s dynamic and competitive world. Managers must thoroughly know the ramifications of agility to develop a mechanism for determining the procedures and identifying inequality in SC operation. Originality/value This study speaks explicitly about the linkage between SCAF, OP, CE. It is an addition to the existing theories of RBV. Enhancements in OP measurements, specifically performance and flexibility, will lead to better firm performance. study conceptualizing the complementing effects of SCA (IS capability) and OPs and second cost efficiencies play positive partial mediating effect in between the link. The achievement of SC agile is especially a critical approach to Boost customer satisfaction and differentiate market position.

PT XYZ is a private company engaged in steel manufacturing, one of the products produced by this company is tire cord. This product is in the form of steel wire that serves to maintain the shape of the tire. The length of the wire is a very critical factor in quality, because one coil of wire that is not suitable length will cause a lot of scrap in consumers, namely the company that produces tires and of course this will cause customer complaints and customer dissatisfaction. Therefore, it is contained in the Automatic Length Control system to avoid the possibility of wire coils that are not suitable for delivery to customers. Every system must have weaknesses that lead to failure that causes maintenance breakdown. This study used the DMADV method to reduce breakdown maintenance on the Automatic Length Control system at PT XYZ. After going through all the stages using the DMADV method (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify) a significant reduction in the number of breakdowns was obtained. Reduction of ALC-related breakdown maintenance by 88.1% or from 185 breakdowns to only 22 breakdowns. So that this flat pulley design was successful in reducing alc problems in henxing machines that produce tyre cord construction 3 +9 +15x0,23 +0.15 NT 6/12/18/5 SSZS

This article took the case of the adoption of a Machine Learning (ML) solution in a steel manufacturing process through a platform provided by a Canadian startup, Canvass Analytics. The content of the paper includes a study around the state of the art of AI/ML adoption in steel manufacturing industries to optimize processes. The work aimed to highlight the opportunities that bring new business models based on AI/ML to improve processes in traditional industries. Methodologically, bibliographic research in the Scopus database was performed to establish the conceptual framework and the state of the art in the steel industry, then the case was presented and analyzed, to finally evaluate the impact of the new business model on the operation of the steel mill. The results of the case highlighted the way the innovative business model, based on a No-Code/Low-Code solution, achieved results in less time than conventional approaches of analytics solutions, and the way it is possible to democratize artificial intelligence and machine learning in traditional industrial environments. This work was focused on opportunities that arise around new business models linked to AI. In addition, the study looked into the framework of the adoption of AI/ML in a traditional industrial environment toward a smart manufacturing approach. The contribution of this article was the proposal of an innovative methodology to put AI/ML in the hands of process operators. It aimed to show how it was possible to achieve better results in a less complex and time-consuming adoption process. The work also highlighted the need for an important quantity of data from the process to approach this kind of solution.

The spread of COVID-19 has caused a huge impact on China's economic situation, and the industry has been significantly affected. Therefore, accelerating the strategic transformation of all industries is the only way to seek sustainable development in the post-epidemic era. This paper reviews the theory of strategic transformation through the study of the concept, classification, development stage, and various industries of strategic transformation, including education, steel, manufacturing, and commercial banks. This paper summarizes the theory of strategic transformation and its development in recent years to a certain extent and puts forward the future research direction of strategic transformation. On the one hand, the research results of this paper provide literature support for the theoretical development of strategy and strategic transformation. On the other hand, it provides a practical basis for studying strategic issues in various industries based on the background of COVID-19.

Abstract Radio frequency (RF) remote controllers are widely used in manufacturing, construction, transportation, and many other industrial applications. Cranes, drills, and miners, among others, are commonly equipped with RF remotes. Installation wired communication takes a long time to set up the connection as compared to the wireless connection. The installation becomes very lengthy and complex if we want to get connected with each router. For the same reason, for a system expansion to add more device(s), the re-routing process to connect this new device(s) to the network can be avoided. Instead, with the wireless connection, we don’t have to perform all the setup again. The network can be accessed with the authorized passcode. Radio-controlled devices are ubiquitous in all sorts of industries. In fact, many cranes are now being equipped with radio-controlled technology, which is revolutionizing the way crews move materials around a warehouse or job site. In the steel manufacturing industries, the wireless crane control has proven to assure. more advantage compared to the disadvantage. Abstract One of the widely present elements in the groundwater and surface water is phosphate due to two reasons; firstly, it is available at high concentrations in the soil, and secondly, it is widely available in wastewaters (industrial, agricultural and domestic wastewaters). Although phosphate causes many problems to the aquatic environment, eutrophication is the most severe problem due to its effects on water quality, economy, and health. Therefore, a number of studies have been made to evaluate the ability of different remedies to eliminate phosphates from wastewaters. Recently, phosphorus extraction may be achieved by filtering the contaminated solution. However, the cost of filtration materials is still high. Due to this reason, research to date has focused on employing inexpensive materials to reduce the cost of the filtering process. In this research, a by-product of steel manufacturing, kiln bottom ashes, was used to extract phosphates from polluted wastewater, considering the impacts of a number of operating parameters, such as to achieve the best possible extraction efficiency for the lowest possible cost. The findings of this study proved the excellent ability of the bottom ash in the extraction of phosphate from wastewater, where it removed more than 90% of 5 mg/L of phosphate after 40 minutes of treatment using 530 mg/L of bottom ash.
