Purpose. In modern conditions of the transport services market functioning, the main task of a customer-oriented carrier is to provide high-quality services for the needs of the clientele in cargo transportation, taking into account modern technologies and world experience. The aim of the work is to analyze the existing problems and prospects for organizing piggyback transportation and the effectiveness assessment of this technology application on the example of one of the most potential routes. Methodology. During the research, methods of analysis and synthesis were used to study the main provisions of scientific publications about world experience of organizing piggyback transportation, methods for determining tariffs for cargo transportation and technical - economic calculations for the selected variants. Findings. Ukraine has significant potential for the development of combined transportation, in particular, in international traffic. One of the most efficient and perspective combined transport technologies in the world is a piggyback transportation. A comparative assessment of the shippers’ costs for cargo transportation using different technologies between the terminals Dnepr-Liski and Chop has been carried out. Scientific novelty. The obtained results make it possible to provide a scientific and economic basis for the selection of expedient variants for combined cargo transportation. Practical value. The obtained results of the analysis of the use effectiveness of piggyback technology, taking into account the existing tariffs and competition with road transport on the specific logistics route, can be used for a preliminary assessment and decision-making about the use of different types of combined transport as an alternative to direct road or rail cargo transportation.

The article is devoted to the study of certain aspects and features of collision regulation of contractual relations in the field of international mixed cargo transportation. The lack of a clear and unified approach in defining the conflict rules to be applied to contractual relations of mixed transport in international traffic creates uncertainty, instability of these relations, and, at the same time, in no way contribute to the development of multimodalism. The main collision principles applied to the contracts of cargo transportation from one state to the territory of another, and the source of their consolidation, as well as the possibility of their application to the agreements of international mixed transportation. Collision factors have been identified, as well as grounds for limiting the application of such bindings as established by international treaties and conventions. It is concluded that it is necessary to adopt a unified and binding international document that would determine the unified regime of collision settlement of international agreements of mixed carriage. It focuses on the peculiarities and rules of determination of the body authorized to resolve the dispute in this category, as well as the rights that this body should use in resolving the dispute, separately for the member states of the European Union and Ukraine, in particular. The author concludes that for the studied legal relations the following 3 groups of conflict bindings can be distinguished: a) general conflict principles; b) the set of collision bindings is defined by unimodal transport conventions; c) binding formulas used depending on the transport used.

Background: The object of the study is regional and global cargo transportation. In order for cargo transportation to link the national economy into a single whole, and also allow it to realize its export opportunities, the level of organization of railway transport should be significantly higher than that of other market participants (primarily shippers and consignees). Aim: to study the prospects for increasing the role of railway transport with the help of digital technologies. Methods: To model the role of railway transport at the national and global levels, the article uses the concept of general organizational science by A. A. Bogdanov (Tectology). The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) is used to model the role of railway transport at the micro level. Results: Railway transport is considered as a system consisting of subsystems: "working body", "transmission", "engine" and "computer". Each of these subsystems corresponds to separate divisions of railway transport. Digitalization involves the transfer from a person to automated systems, first of all, the functions of such a subsystem as a "working body", which functions according to the same algorithm and, therefore, is extremely routine. This simplifies and makes more predictable the production activities of the relevant departments of railway transport, which in turn creates the opportunity to increase the complexity of other subsystems. Conclusion: Railway transport was originally created as a complex macro system based on the most advanced technologies and significantly ahead of other industries in its development. Because of this, he was able to dramatically increase the level of complexity of the territories that he reached. However, today railway transport is experiencing increasing competition from other modes of transport, and therefore qualitatively new measures are required from railway transport to ensure advanced development. To do this, it is proposed to apply digitalization to the process of physical movement of goods as a whole: from fixing the need for transportation from shippers to delivering goods directly to the production sites of consignees. In this case, the main competitive advantage of railway transport becomes the "computer".

In the second half of the XX century, Russian river transport was actively developing, and by 1990 the volume of cargo transportation reached 580 million tons. Now in the 20s of the XXI century, the volume of river traffic has decreased almost fivefold. There has been a redistribution of transportation between modes of transport: the shares of rail and river modes of transport have decreased, the shares of road and pipeline have increased. From the point of view of public interests, the existing distribution of traffic between modes of transport is not rational. The volume of production in the economy of the Russian Federation has fully recovered, but the growth of river traffic does not occur due to the redistribution of traffic between other modes of transport. The article discusses the reasons for a significant decrease in the share of river transport in the total volume of transport services and suggests measures to restore the position of inland waterway transport.

Air cargo transportation in international trade stands out with its speed, reliability, safety, interaction with other transportation types, intensive use of information technologies, and global standards. During the Covid-19 pandemic, various negativities have emerged in air cargo transportation, as in many sectors. In this study, the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in air cargo transportation business processes are evaluated within the scope of the ISO9001 Quality Management System standard so that they do not adversely affect the service quality. In this context, a case study was conducted on the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard in dealing with the difficulties arising from the pandemic in the cargo operations of an air transportation company. As a result of the implementation, the cargo ecosystem has been expanded, the carrying capacity has been increased, and the storage and cargo transportation efficiency has been increased by making use of information and communication technologies. Thus, it was easier to overcome the difficulties arising from the pandemic in the business processes of the company, and it was seen that sustainability in line with commercial expectations was ensured by rising to fifth place in world air cargo transportation in 2020.
