ABSTRACT Introduction: With the extensive and in-depth development of Taekwondo in China, more and more people participate in Taekwondo training. Due to the lack of experience of some coaches and the misunderstanding of scientific sports training by young athletes, injuries occur from time to time. This has a bad effect on Taekwond itself, and it can also damage the health of athletes. Objective: This article discusses joint injuries in Taekwondo and analyzes the characteristics of Taekwondo sports injuries and preventive methods. Methods: This article uses a questionnaire applied to young athletes to gain an understanding of the sports injuries situation. Results: The most common injury sites were feet and joints. The nature of the injuries is mostly soft tissue injury, ligament laceration, and muscle strain. The most serious injuries are kidney and perineal damage. Conclusion: Improving the level of training, strengthening medical supervision, and paying attention to the timely treatment of acute injuries are important ways to reduce the occurrence of trauma. Level of evidence II; Therapeutic studies - investigation of treatment results.

Hepatopulmonary syndrome (HPS) is a serious pulmonary complication of progressive liver disease that leads to a poor clinical prognosis. Patients with HPS may develop acute respiratory failure, which requires intensive care and therapy. At present, the only effective treatment is liver transplantation; therefore, early diagnosis and timely treatment are of considerable significance. The three main features of HPS are liver disease, oxygenation disorder, and intrapulmonary vascular dilatation (IPVD). Diagnosing HPS is challenging due to the difficulty in detecting the presence or absence of IPVD. As such, imaging examination is very important for detecting IPVD. This paper reviews the imaging methods for diagnosing HPS such as ultrasound, dynamic pulmonary perfusion imaging, pulmonary angiography, and computed tomography.

In recent years, the use of chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of cancer became more common. At the same time, the number of complications associated with this is also increasing. Among the rare complications of therapy with some antitumor drugs is the formation of secondary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction. The aim was to analyze and systematize information about secondary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction due to the toxic effect of antitumor drugs. Materials and methods. The authors analyzed the literature available in the MEDLINE and RSCI search engines in February 2021. The analysis included 55 publications. Results. In the literature, there are indications that such antitumor drugs as 5-fluorouracil and similar drugs, mitomycin C, as well as therapy with radioactive iodine, are characterized by the possibility of developing complications in the form of secondary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Preliminary screening of the drainage function of the tear ducts, as well as prescribing of local anti-inflammatory and antibacterial treatment in the form of instillations in the conjunctival sac can help to reduce the risk of complications. This explains the need to recommend patients to consult an ophthalmologist if there are relevant complaints before or during treatment. In the absence of timely treatment, obstruction of the tear ducts often becomes an indication for reconstructive interventions. Conclusion. Secondary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction is one of the rare, but systematically occurring complications of antitumor therapy. To date, the pathogenesis of these complications is not fully understood, and some of the data is contradictory. In the future, the accumulation of knowledge concerning the pathogenesis of this complication will contribute to the development of personalized methods of prevention.

According to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO), one of the leading causes of death by the end of 2030 will be diabetes, which is a serious disease. Timely treatment of this disease can prevent serious complications, including death. The number of people getting infected with diabetes is millions. The risk of getting this infection is common now a days and is more prevalent in women than men. Diagnosis process for diabetes is quite tedious. Diabetes retinopathy is a disorder that is caused by uncontrolled diabetes and can cause complete blindness if left untreated. Therefore, if detected early its treatment can prevent the unfavourable effects of diabetic retinopathy. The actual diagnosis of diabetes retinopathy by eye doctors takes a lot of time and patients need to suffer more during this time. Thus the latest achievements in science and technology makes it easier to predict the disease. The aim is to diagnose whether a person is diabetic or not using a phase-based machine learning method. This paper reviews, classifies and compares algorithms with previously suggested strategies to develop better and more efficient algorithms.

Non-compaction of left ventricular (NCLV) is a rare cardiomyopathy of unknown origin characterized by prominent ventricular trabeculations and deep intertrabecular sinusoids, in communication with the left ventricular cavity. The NCLV results due to failure of compaction during foetal development. In this study, five children were diagnosed with NCLV out of 135 cases of cardiomyopathy and the youngest case was diagnosed at 27th day of life. Congestive cardiac failure presenting as tachycardia and tachypnea were common clinical manifestations. Early detection of NCLV helps patients to get timely treatment. NCLV should be considered as one of the differential diagnosis amongst cases of cardiomyopathy.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an ever-increasing global health concern. Here, we developed two SYBR Green-based mismatch amplification mutation assays (SYBR-MAMAs) targeting GyrA T83I, D87N, D87Y, and D87H, the predominant causes of fluoroquinolone AMR in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. SYBR-MAMAs were tested on 85 isolates, 45 with intermediate/full ciprofloxacin resistance. Assays identified the correct phenotype in 84% intermediate/full resistant and 100% sensitive strains. Clinical implementation of our rapid SYBR-MAMAs will permit timely treatment alterations to improve patient outcomes.

A literature review on the features of residual phenomena and consequences of COVID-19 is analyzed on the basis of data published so far. By the beginning of January 2021, COVID-19, accompanied by severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), led to more than 83 million confirmed cases and more than 1.8 million deaths. The clinical spectrum of SARS-CoV-2 infection is wide, including asymptomatic infection, fever, fatigue, myalgia, mild upper respiratory tract disease, severe and life-threatening viral pneumonia requiring hospitalization, and death. COVID-19 is a new disease, and uncertainty remains about possible long-term health consequences. To date, it is known that the majority of infected people, especially at a young age, have a mild course of the disease, compared with older people. In some patients, the disease progresses rapidly and various complications develop, including multiple organ failure. Therefore, early detection and timely treatment of critical cases is crucial.

Orbital myositis in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a rare entity with risk of serious complications. Timely treatment with effective immunosuppressors is desirable. We report a case of a 32-year-old female patient with SLE who presented with an acute ocular pain and extraorbital muscle thickening, consistent with orbital myositis. Association with SLE was made after exclusion of other aetiologies. Due to refractoriness to steroids, off-label rituximab was initiated with clinical and imaging parameter improvement.
