NGOs are expected by their social mission not only to assess but to report on sustainability issues in response to the growing public awareness of the sustainability agendas. Since NGOs are globally renowned as watchdogs for advancing socio-economic development and sustainable societies, research on their efforts in this regard will help develop recommendations on how they can be better positioned as the watchdog. The purpose of this article is to review and assess the understanding of sustainability (reporting) in NGO literature as well as the barriers and drivers. The study investigates various practices of sustainability and identifies the drivers and barriers in sustainability reporting (SR). The authors reviewed 61 articles published between 2010 and 2020 on sustainability and assessed the strengths and weaknesses in the understanding of sustainability in literature as well as the reporting phenomenon in NGOs. The misconceptions in the definition of SR tend to weaken its relevance and applicability, and the reporting process is often focused on demonstrating the legitimacy of NGOs rather than improving their performance. As such, it provides more evidence in support of the need for a more holistic and all-inclusive definition that will aid regulation and enforcement. We also found that, although it is often assumed all NGOs share similar objectives, it is not always the case as there are as diverse objectives as there are numbers of NGOs and their reporting pattern varies in accordance with this diversity. The review makes a case for a more comprehensive definition of SR suitable for NGOs using four elements as well as providing suggestions for where research in this area might focus to enhance the overall body of knowledge. The study contributes to theory and practice by introducing new elements guiding the definition of SR in NGOs which supports accountability and proper functioning of a circular economy and promotes sustainable development.

To study the international news reporting patterns of the Chinese media, this research provides a longitudinal analysis of the news coverage of Sino-Japan summit meetings from 1972 to 2019 in the People’s Daily. Based on the framing theory, the results of the analysis show that different aspects of the summit are selected to be covered in the news depending on the Chinese government’s policy towards Japan in different time periods. However, the news coverage itself has maintained a high degree of consistency. Before the period of reform and the opening up of China, there was no mention of the summit meetings’ content; reports only introduced the date, location and attendees. After the reform, information reported about the summit meetings increased and the coverage began including quotations from both the Chinese and Japanese heads of state; at the same time, reports adopted a ‘propagandized’ text editing mode by quoting more from Chinese leaders than Japanese leaders. Furthermore, the People’s Daily framed the Chinese government’s attempts to stabilize and develop Sino-Japanese relations over time.

Over recent years, there has been a focus in corporate activity upon the concept of sustainability reporting. Sustainability reporting has gained importance by Indian companies and corporates have adopted sustainability reporting practices since few years. Sustainability reporting of an organisations provides information about discharge of social reasonability and level of sensitivity of organisations towards social and environmental issues. Though sustainability reporting is not compulsory in the country many companies are reporting their initiatives in the direction of sustainable development. This paper attempt to evaluate sustainability reporting by leading Cement Manufacturing companies. This paper describes reporting pattern of cement industry in India.

Right-wing media have been growing in terms of readership and impact in recent years. However, comparative analyses that gauge linkages between mainstream and right-wing media in Europe are virtually missing. We pursued an algorithm-based topic-modelling analysis of 11,420 articles concerning the question of whether reporting of the leading German right-wing newspaper Junge Freiheit differed from that of mainstream media outlets in the context of the refugee crisis of 201516. The results strongly support this notion. They show a clear-cut dichotomy with mainstream media on one side and Junge Freiheit on the other. A time lag could be found, pointing to a reporting pattern that positioned Junge Freiheit relative to the journalistic and political mainstream. Thus, Junge Freiheit can be characterised as a reactive alternative media outlet that is prone to populism: it stresses the national dimension of the crisis, embraces the positions of the right-wing party Alternative fr Deutschland (AfD) and largely neglects complex international, and particularly European, implications.

Purpose of the study: Through an investigative news, “Kapal Patroli Pembawa Selisih” (Tempo, 2004, May 16), this research is conducted for the purpose of examining Tempo’s investigative reporting pattern – how Tempo conceptualize its investigative reporting, how Tempo plan its investigative reporting, how Tempo evaluate its investigative reporting and how Tempo conduct its investigative reporting. Methodology: This study uses qualitative method with case study approach, through interpretive framework. Case study approach designed for this research is a single case (embedded) in nature, which applies multi-level analysis. Analysis is carried out to discover the answers to understand the reporting of investigation, both stated by literature and meanings conceptualized by Tempo Magazine itself. ‘One observation’ is the terminology of investigative reporting (11-steps of investigative reporting by Paul N. Williams). Main Findings: Investigative reporting by Tempo Magazine is a rigorous and systematic reporting, disclosing wrongdoing based on evidence, facts and data. Investigation’s editorials of Tempo Magazine form special teams. The investigation team gives emphasis to quality and capacity of journalists, which coordinated by an editor. Investigasi rubric is systematically a reporting unit integrated with Tempo’s editorial management.  Applications of this study: Tempo’s investigative activity in Indonesia is not only a matter of press action. Its presence encourages democratic verve in Indonesia. Tempo’s reporting pattern represents social, cultural, politics and other subjects. As a matter of fact, Tempo’s investigative reporting is linked to Indonesia’s Human Rights Affair, in articulating freedom of thought and opinion. Thus, this research is able to be use as material for research in politics, sociology, communication, media and cultural studies. Novelty/Originality of this study: Investigative reporting is rather a unique topic of research. Most of the research discuss investigation within the news themes and its impact, or journalistic professionalism. Thus, the research on Tempo’s investigative reporting has its novelty.

PURPOSE: Globally, adverse events following immunization (AEFI) reporting continues to be a challenge. It is estimated that about 95% of AEFIs never get reported after vaccinations necessitating strategies to improve it. The introduction of databases such as VigiAccess in which AEFI data from Pharmacovigilance centres around the world can be assessed is an important step towards improving AEFI reporting and enhancing vaccine safety. This study assessed the reporting pattern of AEFIs from the various continents of the world in VigiAccess, an open-access pharmacovigilance database. METHODS: VigiAccess was thoroughly searched on the 5th of February 2018 for the categories of reported AEFIs and number and types of AEFIs reported for measles vaccine, oral polio vaccine, yellow fever vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, rotavirus vaccine, meningococcal vaccine, tetanus vaccine and BCG vaccine. RESULTS: After a thorough search through VigiAccess, 27 categories of reported AEFIs were retrieved. The total number of AEFIs for the 8 vaccines was 813,973. General disorders and administration site conditions were the highest number of AEFIs (251,405 representing 30.9%) followed by skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders (93,011 representing 11.4%) and nervous system disorders (89,077 representing 10.9%). With the continental data, the Americas recorded the highest number of AEFIs followed by Europe, Oceania, Asia and Africa. CONCLUSION: General and vaccine administration site conditions were the highest number of AEFIs. The Americas recorded the highest number of AEFIs whereas Africa recorded the least. VigiAccess needs improvement in data synchronization to enhance its reliability.

Background: Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) have become frequent cause for hospitalization and are coming up as an economic burden on health systems. Identification of ADRs and their reporting pattern can provide useful information for their management. Methods: This was an observational and prospective study. ADR reports of 130 patients were collected of the inpatient department of various clinical departments of Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh (M.P.) The ADRs were collected during October 2014-September 2015, with ADR reporting form of Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), New Delhi. ADRs were assessed for their causality, severity, and preventability as per the standard scales. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics and expresses in percentages. Results: Overall occurrence of ADRs was slightly more in males (55%). Maximum (26%) suspected ADR reported during study period was skin rash. Skin (44%) was the most commonly affected organ system. Antimicrobials (68%) were the drug group most commonly involved in ADRs. Most of the suspected ADRs were probable in causality assessment, moderate in severity and probably preventable. Conclusions: The study results revealed opportunities for interventions in ADR management to ensure safer drug use.

217 Background: Androgen deprivation is associated with cognitive decline and mood changes. Abiraterone acetate plus prednisone (AAP) and enzalutamide (ENZ) are oral hormonal agents for the treatment of metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCPRC); both target the androgen signaling pathway. Meta-analysis for individual neuropsychiatric adverse effects (NAEs) associated with these drugs has not been available in the literature. Methods: Following the methodology presented by Ruiz et al. a further meta-analysis was performed to estimate the pooled Relative Risk (RR) of NAEs for AAP and ENZ. A complementary analysis of the EudraVigilance database was performed to explore the consistency of the real world adverse drug reactions (ADR) reporting pattern with the meta-analysis. Results: The meta-analysis results indicate that patients treated with ENZ had a statistically significant higher risk of restless leg syndrome (RLS), anxiety, headache and insomnia vs control. Both AAP and ENZ showed significant increased risk for falls vs control. The Proportional Reporting Ratio (PRR) of ADRs reported in Eudra is higher with ENZ than with AAP for all the variables analyzed. Conclusions: NAEs studied are more prevalent with ENZ vs placebo than AAP vs prednisone plus placebo. Reporting trend in Eudra is consistent with this results. [Table: see text]
