In this work we collected a large number of vehicular emission data of carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) from custom paid and non-custom paid vehicles in the Swat district, which are responsible for changing the climate and global warming. Swat valley is facing severe threats and impacts of the climate change as there is a record high increase in the temperature with flash floods and droughts becoming increasingly common. The main cause of the increasing warm weather is vehicle emissions along with the cutting of forest on a large scale in the valley. Hospital records for 2768 children aged 0 to 18 years (697 of whom had two encounters) were obtained for a main city area of two hospitals in Saidu Sharif, Swat. Residential addresses were geocoded. A line source dispersion model was used to estimate individual seasonal exposures to local traffic-generated pollutants (nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide and hydroxide).

From the 1850s, British influence in Lagos and coastal Nigeria expanded, leading to the annexation of Lagos in December 1861 and the establishment of Lagos Colony in 1862. This period also witnessed the British quest for the control of coastal and inland trade routes. Ikorodu’s location north of Lagos and on the lagoon, and its control of trade from the coast to Sagamu, the main city of Remo, involved the town in larger struggles between the Ijebu kingdom and the Egba settlers at Abeokuta, and in the expansionist plans for Lagos under Governor Henry Stanhope Freeman (1862–4) and his successor, Captain John Hawley Glover (1864–6). This article explores how Ikorodu successfully manoeuvred between these differen interests under the leadership of Balogun Mabadeje Jaiyesimi to defeat its external aggressors and to increase its independence. It not only addresses the dearth of published work on Ikorodu but also provides a response to Earl Phillips’ discussion of the unsuccessful 1864–5 Egba attack on Ikorodu. Unlike Philips, who suggests that the Egba defeat was primarily engineered by John Glover, this article emphasises the importance of Balogun Jaiyesimi’s strategic and negotiating skills, which led to the formation of a local coalition between Ikorodu and its neighbouring towns, especially Igbogbo, to ensure Ikorodu’s military victory.

The pandemic of COVID-19 has given a disaster to the business industry. Many businesses have to concede that they have to suffer financially because of this situation. One of those businesses that suffered is the hotel business. Many hotel companies have to find a strategy to ensure their relationship between the main city (head office) and secondary cities (branch office) working seamlessly to mitigate this crisis. The primary purpose of this study is to investigate how the hotel industry is handling the challenges during pandemic COVID-19 in the secondary cities. This study adopted qualitative research with 12 semi-structured interviews from various hotel managers in multiple cities. The result showed some discrepancies in the interrelationship between the head office and the branch office in secondary cities, creating uncertainties among them. This study contributed to the crisis management literature in hospitality and tourism industry by exploring the challenges from the pandemic of COVID-19 among cities in Indonesia.

Abstract Background To investigate the association between geographic, clinical, socioeconomic factors and delayed management of pediatric testicular torsion (TT) in West China. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on TT at Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University in West China from November 2004 to December 2020. Univariate analysis and logistic regression analysis were conducted to determine the association between these factors and delayed management of TT. Results A total of 301 cases were included in this study. The misdiagnosis rate of TT in primary, secondary healthcare units and tertiary hospitals was 93.8, 71.1, and 8.9%, respectively. Approximately 26.9% of TT boys received timely surgical management (within 12 h from symptoms inset to surgery). Logistic regression analyses suggested the following factors were associated with delayed repair of TT: age less than 6 years (P = 0.001), with a history of symptoms progress (P = 0.001) or former treatment (P <0.001), absence of other diagnosis (P = 0.011) and those boys living far away from the main city zones (P <0.001). Conclusions Delayed surgical management for TT was more likely for boys with age less than 6 years, the absence of other diagnosis, with a history of former treatment or symptoms progress, and those living far away from the main city zone. To maximize the possibility of timely surgical management for TT, it is vital to strengthen the public awareness of TT and conduct continuously re-education and update physicians working at primary and secondary healthcare units.

In recent years, Colombia, has witnessed a transformation in terms of human mobility. In a contradictory scenario where economic wealth, growth and opulence overlap with hunger, unemployment, conflict and poverty, Colombia experienced two main forms of human mobilization: internal displacement from rural areas to cities as a result of the armed conflict, and emigration looking for new opportunities abroad. However, recently Colombia has become a key point for human mobility—due primarily to the international human mobility from Venezuela. As a result, it is today an immigration, emigration and transit hot spot. The Covid-19 pandemic and an increase of human mobility in Colombia have emphasized the contrast between two groups: those who arrive by foot and those who can afford aerial transport. We will argue that during the Covid-19 pandemic, national authorities in the main cities have adopted differing treatments towards low- income migrants, as opposed to foreign tourists/investors. To do this, we will focus our analysis on the restrictions imposed to enter the country, as a policy has been structured to exclude migrants crossing by foot trying to reach a main city, while appealing to foreign tourists/investors. This paper aims to show how the authorities’ narratives separate the terms “migrants” and “foreigners” as starkly different, giving them a distinctive treatment when entering the country. “Migration” usually refers to the poorer individuals from Latin America (predominantly Venezuelan), while the concept of “foreigner” typically refers to the wealthy people from the global north. In this sense, the way in which a person enters the country determines how they will be treated by authorities and communities. This is a consequence of a normalized aporophobia, as Cortina defined, that undervalues migrants and favors foreigners.

<p>This qualitative case study examines the teaching practices, inspired by the Pikler approach and RIE philosophy, in one infant and toddler centre in a main city of New Zealand. Specifically the practices studied were primary caregiving, freedom of movement and respect for infants’ confidence and competence. Recommendations for practitioners are made at the conclusion of this thesis. Data were collected through non-participant observations, semistructured interviews with teachers, a focus group interview with parents, and collation and analysis of relevant documentation. The framework for data interpretation and analysis was based on a thematic coding of observations and interview data. The findings indicated that a culture of respect was embedded throughout all aspects of teachers’ interactions with children, colleagues and parents within the centre. Respect, defined as treating with consideration, was the overarching feature underpinning the values and actions of teachers. Teachers engaged in ways that would suggest they accept each person as an individual with rights and freedoms. Teachers invited children to engage with them and no action would be initiated for or with a child without his or her agreement. This agreement was shown through cues and gestures, to which the teachers were all highly attuned. Teachers slowed their pace intentionally and offered children choices in their care and education. Peaceful observation from teachers enhanced their ability to interpret individual children’s needs and wants and they would provide support for children rather than intervene unnecessarily. Limitations to this research included the fact that I only studied one early childhood centre and completed observations over a limited period of two weeks. The centre studied had ratios better than the minimum ratios required by early childhood regulations, which means</p>

PurposeThis study explains how retailers can use the knowledge function of attitudinal theories to understand how millennials in a collectivist emerging market, trade-off between a satisfactory customer service experience versus price when repurchasing a smartphone.Design/methodology/approach356 usable questionnaires (86% response rate) were collected and analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM), AMOS.FindingsMillennials in Vietnam tend to adopt an individualistic approach when repurchasing a smartphone and utilise their knowledge of the product. However, they value personalised customer service that is specific to their needs, especially interactions with sales staff that raises their confidence and self-esteem. The unique interaction allows authorised retailers to distinguish themselves from unauthorised retailers. Repurchase behaviour is encouraged by low uncertainty avoidance in conjunction with price sensitivity; and the desire to be seen as achieving a high social status.Research limitations/implicationsThe data for the study was collected in Hanoi, the main city of Vietnam and is representative only of urban-based millennials.Practical implicationsRetailers considering entering an collectivist emerging market need to understand that millennials are price sensitive and may repurchase from unauthorised retailers. Accurate information and sales promotions can be used to stimulate demand for a high involvement product.Originality/valueFunctional theories of attitudes is used to link the concept of customer service with knowledge function utilisation in order to establish how customers in a collectivist emerging market process information and share knowledge through socialisation.

Garbage is matter which is serious enought to society especially in the main city. Increasing number of society will affect to increasing garbage either as resulted. Volume of garbage which al ways increase without measuring last process of garbage will appear many problems for example, leachate seepage. Leachate is a liquid waste resulted of biology decomposition. Leachate soaks to bottom groundwater will affect decreasing level of field water and allergy on the skin. The aim of this research is to know leahate accumulation and direct seepage arround landfill Sekoto. The method will be conducted by field research by geoelectric configuration diple-dipole. Firstly, the writter survey the location to know the condition of research. Then collected data with 5 line arround landfill Sekoto use resistivitymeter. The data will be process using software Res2dinv and Voxler. Software Res2dinv to show the leachate seepage base on resistivity rock value. Software Voxler is used to show direct seepage as 3 dimension. The research finding shows that lye had been permeated in the south of garbage-can with the leachate seepage reaching 6.79 meters. While, in the north of garbage-can, there was no leachate seepage found. In the west road of Garbage Dump and near to leachate waste pipe, it had been found the leachate seepage reaching 11.8 meters. In summary, the direction of leachate seepage in Garbage Dump is congruence with river flow and the distribution of leachate horizontally.

We summarised the records of Tarentola mauritanica in Albania. The first record for the country was published in 1989 from Sazan Island; however, it was never confirmed again. Another population was found recently in an urban habitat of Vlorë City near the main city port, probably of human-mediated origin.
