In this paper, a generalized tachyonic dark energy scenario is presented in the framework of a homogeneous and isotropic Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) flat universe, in which a noncanonical scalar field is coupled to gravity nonminimally. By utilizing the Noether symmetry method, we found the explicit form of both potential density and coupling function, as a function of the scalar field. It is found that the tachyon field acts as the source of inflation and accelerates the evolution of the universe in the early times considerably. While, in the late times, gravitational sources are a pressureless matter field together with the tachyon field, which is the nature of dark energy and plays an essential role in the deceleration-acceleration phase transition of the universe. Further, the role of the coefficient function of tachyon potential, alongside the potential, is considered in the evolution of the universe. It is shown that this model involves a cosmological degeneracy in the sense that different coupling parameters and tachyonic potentials may be equivalent to the same cosmological standards such as the cosmic acceleration, age, equation of state and mean Hubble of the FLRW universe. The physical characteristics of the main cosmological observables are studied in detail, which suggests that the generalized tachyon field is a remarkable dark energy candidate.

Capacitive power transfer (CPT) has attracted attention for on-road electric vehicles, autonomous underwater vehicles, and electric ships charging applications. High power transfer capability and high efficiency are the main requirements of a CPT system. This paper proposes three possible solutions to achieve maximum efficiency, maximum power, or conjugate-matching. Each solution expresses the available load power and the efficiency of the CPT system as functions of capacitive coupling parameters and derives the required admittance of the load and the source. The experimental results demonstrated that the available power and the efficiency decrease by the increasing of the frequency from 300 kHz to 1 MHz and the separation distance change from 100 to 300 mm. The maximum efficiency solution gives 83% at 300 kHz and a distance of 100 mm, while the maximum power solution gives the maximum normalized power of 0.994 at the same frequency and distance. The CPT system can provide a good solution to charge electric ships and underwater vehicles over a wide separation distance and low-frequency ranges.

The purpose of this study is to construct the asymptotics of the relaxation regimes of a system of differential equations with delay, which simulates three diffusion-coupled oscillators with nonlinear compactly supported delayed feedback under the assumption that the factor in front of the feedback function is large enough. Also, the purpose is to study the influence of the coupling between the oscillators on the nonlocal dynamics of the model. Methods. We construct the asymptotics of solutions of the considered model with initial conditions from a special set. From the asymptotics of the solutions, we obtain an operator of the translation along the trajectories that transforms the set of initial functions into a set of the same type. The main part of this operator is described by a finite-dimensional mapping. The study of its dynamics makes it possible to refine the asymptotics of the solutions of the original model and draw conclusions about its dynamics. Results. It follows from the form of the constructed mapping that for positive coupling parameters of the original model, starting from a certain moment of time, all three generators have the same main part of the asymptotics — the generators are “synchronized”. At negative values of the coupling parameter, both inhomogeneous relaxation cycles and irregular regimes are possible. The connection of these modes with the modes of the constructed finite-dimensional mapping is described. Conclusion. From the results of the work it follows that the dynamics of the model under consideration is fundamentally influenced by the value of the coupling parameter between the generators.

In order to realize a compact L-band transponder design for the calibration of spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems, a novel antenna was developed by DLR. As with previous designs for different frequency bands, the future transponder is based on a two-antenna concept. This paper addresses the issue of antenna coupling between corrugated L-band horn antennas, which are operated in close proximity. The antenna coupling is analyzed via simulations and measurements by utilizing specifically defined coupling parameters. Additionally, improvements to further lower the mutual antenna coupling have been designed, tested, and are described in this paper.

The battery impedance is an important indicator of battery health status. In this paper, a magnetic coupling-based impedance measurement method for electrochemical batteries is proposed. Without affecting the energy injection stage, the designed suppression resistance can minimize the influence of the primary circuit response, and the under-damped oscillation waveform containing the battery impedance information can be directly obtained on the primary inductance. The change of the mutual inductance value within a certain range will not affect the measurement results. Therefore, the measurement system has high stability and robustness. By utilizing the discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based algorithm to calculate the damped oscillation parameters, the battery impedance is accurately derived from the calculated attenuation coefficient and damped oscillation frequency. The accuracy of this method under different coupling parameters is analyzed and verified by simulation and experiment on a Li-ion battery, which could be employed to estimate the state of charge (SOC).

Abstract The work is devoted to the ultrasonic method of controlling mechanical stresses using ultrasonic head waves. The factors that contribute to the result of measurements of mechanical stresses include: the propagation velocity of the head ultrasonic wave, the temperature of the environment and the object of control, the coefficients of acoustoelastic and thermoacoustic coupling, parameters of the optical-acoustic transducer. The contribution of each of these factors to the results of measurements of mechanical stresses is assessed. A technique for assessing the uncertainty of measurements of mechanical stresses by the ultrasonic method using head waves has been developed.

Abstract The Haken-Kelso-Bunz (HKB) system of equations is a well-developed model for dyadic rhythmic coordination in biological systems. It captures ubiquitous empirical observations of bistability – the coexistence of in-phase and antiphase motion – in neural, behavioral, and social coordination. Recent work by Zhang and colleagues has generalized HKB to many oscillators to account for new empirical phenomena observed in multiagent interaction. Utilising this generalization, the present work examines how the coordination dynamics of a pair of oscillators can be augmented by virtue of their coupling to a third oscillator. We show that stable antiphase coordination emerges in pairs of oscillators even when their coupling parameters would have prohibited such coordination in their dyadic relation. We envision two lines of application for this theoretical work. In the social sciences, our model points toward the development of intervention strategies to support coordination behavior in heterogeneous groups (for instance in gerontology, when younger and older individuals interact). In neuroscience, our model will advance our understanding of how the direct functional connection of mesoscale or microscale neural ensembles might be switched by their changing coupling to other neural ensembles. Our findings illuminate a crucial property of complex systems: how the whole is different than the system’s parts.

Abstract We study CP-Violation (CPV) in a Composite 2-Higgs Doublet Model (C2HDM) based on the global symmetry breaking SO(6)/[SO(4) × SO(2)], wherein the strong sector is modeled by a two-site moose structure. Non-trivial complex phases in the interactions involving fermions in both the elementary and strong sectors can induce CPV in the Higgs potential as well as the Yukawa coupling parameters. We compute both of the latter and analyse their dependence upon the aforementioned complex phases. Finally, we discuss physics observables which are distinctive of this model. Even in the simplest case with only one complex phase in the strong sector we can get significant CPV effects.

An on-chip structure consisting of a round-cornered square-shaped (RCSS) resonator as an optical filter is studied via optical experiments, analytical modeling, and numerical techniques. A general coupling model is shown to accurately represent the entire spectral response; the model also provides an understanding of the influence of geometrical and coupling parameters on the resonance characteristics of the RCSS microresonators. The selection of an optimum radius of curvature for rounding off the sharp corners of square microresonators can provide higher quality factors than that of conventional circular resonators. The rotation of the RCSS at the central corner coupling point is also shown to improve the quality factor and remove the minimal phase mismatch requirement and dependency on interaction length. The model results are validated with an electromagnetic finite domain analysis (EMFD) and optical experiments, for which an RCSS on a silicon-on-insulator platform is fabricated. It is shown that the optical performance characteristics (quality factor, transmission ratio, and extinction ratio) of the microresonators are very sensitive to the coupling parameters and must be carefully considered in addition to geometrical length, rotation, and curvature effects. Due to the change in coupling introduced by rotation, the quality factor of the round-cornered square-shaped microresonator can be significantly larger than a circular ring with the same size, thereby establishing RCSS as a competitive alternative to circular microresonators.

Abstract We combine NLO predictions with full top-quark mass dependence with approximate NNLO predictions for Higgs-boson pair production in gluon fusion, including the possibility to vary coupling parameters within a non-linear Effective Field Theory framework containing five anomalous couplings for this process. We study the impact of the anomalous couplings on various observables, and present Higgs-pair invariant-mass distributions at seven benchmark points characterising different mhh shape types. We also provide numerical coefficients for the approximate NNLO cross section as a function of the anomalous couplings at $$ \sqrt{s} $$ s = 14 TeV.
