the purpose of the article was to identify the nature of the impact of the pandemic on the quality of education at a university using distance learning and artificial intelligence. The research methodology was based on a complex of general scientific and special methods. The data obtained during the survey and in-depth interviews were summarized and analyzed in a focus group. Stable connections and tendencies in the change in the quality of teaching at the university are revealed. Traps for students are attributed to stable connections: lack of a valid system of control over the authorship of completed works; the possibility of unauthorized use of various electronic sources when responding; coronavirus quarantine leads to the erasure of students’ boundaries between study and life, personal space and social environment; an increase in students’ desire to have high grades in subjects with a decrease in interest in learning. Trends: increased workload on teachers and supporting (technical) personnel; growing dissatisfaction with distance learning; reduction of responsibility on the part of students for mastering knowledge in the course of distance learning.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the impact of three determinants of organizational identification (OID) on employee performance (EP) in the context of private business institutions. Design/methodology/approach A sample of 175 permanent faculty members from four top universities in Karachi, Pakistan, was interviewed using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire. The data were inserted in SPSS 22 and SmartPLS v 3.2 for performing the analysis. Findings Results of the study showed a significant effect in perceived supervisor support on OID; OID; job satisfaction and EP; and mediating relationship. Conversely, an insignificant effect was observed in workplace incivility. Research limitations/implications It is highly recommended that organizations work on the areas that lead to enhancing their employees’ performance. Also, human resource should create a healthy culture that promotes initiatives, open-door policies and discourages power distance. Lastly, one of the key responsibilities of management is to strengthen their OID because employees are more likely to identify with their supervisors if they invest in the organizations they work for. Practical implications This study will help strengthen the relationship between supervisors and university employees. It will guide the supervisors to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of their subordinates and develop recreational policies and employee engagement activities. In addition, it will help develop a conducive environment and enhance the quality of education in the university and the society. Originality/value Understanding the determinants of OID on EP in the educational context is very important as it enhances the quality of EP and the overall quality of education of the institution.

The chapter aims to investigate the impact of the presence of the university on the perceived quality of life of the host community. To this aim, the authors focused on a specific area, that is the historical town center of Naples (as defined by the UNESCO in the World Heritage List since 1995), where five universities are located. Adopting a qualitative and explorative approach, 25 in-depth interviews have been conducted with local universities' stakeholders and content-analyzed through the software Nvivo 10. Thus, the authors identified precisely the multiplicity of activities through which the presence of the university contributes to the socio-economic and cultural well-being of the community of which it is part, thinking about the dynamics that may occur in the case of an urban-located university. Based on the findings, a conceptual model is proposed that may be further validated with new investigations.

Professional training of students at the University should form the graduate's solid knowledge and ability to quickly master his often changing functional duties. To do this, the basic disci-plines of the engineer should be based on the fundamental disciplines of the first courses, which include, first of all, mathematics and physics. However, mathematical training of University students in the first years has become particularly difficult in recent years. It is known that today school graduates have a low level of exam scores in mathematics, which does not provide adequate assistance to successfully master not only higher mathematics at the University, but also special disciplines. In this regard, currently an urgent task is to study the levels of knowledge of special disciplines by students of technical universities, depending on the level of knowledge of mathematical disciplines. To ensure the quality of teaching mathematics at the University there are methodical systems of organization of level differentiation of training, which takes into account the initial level of pre-University training and corresponding to this level of the program of University mathematical training. However, their implementation is not very successful. The paper proposes a method of evaluation of the study of the connection of mathematical dis-ciplines with General scientific and special disciplines. Their establishment can allow to make necessary adjustments in their study for subsequent sets to the University.

All participants in educational relations are worried about the problem how to improve the quality of education, with everyone representing it through the prism of their value system. In this connection there is a need to structure these representations. It is necessary to begin with bringing into a unified system the representations of education direct customers – students. The aim of our article is to analyze how pedagogical university students perceive the quality of their education. On the basis of the survey involving 117 respondents from Elabuga Institute of Kazan Federal University (Elabuga, Republic of Tatarstan) and the Northeast Federal University named after M.K. Ammosov (Yakutsk, Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)) we analyzed such criteria as quality of teaching, quality of learning, formation of universal competencies, personal qualities necessary for modern teachers and the creation of appropriate conditions by a university (digitalization of the educational environment, academic mobility) for students’ self-development. The t-Student criterion was used to determine the differences between the respondents’ competencies, knowledge, abilities, skills and qualities that they had possessed before entering the university and those that were formed during the university study. The obtained data indicate a high assessment of the quality of education by the students. The results also showed the educational process strong and weak points that students of the two federal universities face. Thus, focusing on one of the customers’ (students’) views will allow teachers to manage the educational process effectively and improve its quality.
