<p><strong>This research examines Little Bee’s social identity change based on Chris Cleave’s novel entitled <em>the Other Hand. </em>The object of this research focuses on the Little Bee’s social identity change. The method used in this research is critical reading. To collect the data, the researcher did some steps including reading the novel closely and intensively, making notes, visiting library, and exploring the data from the internet which are related to the topic. In analyzing the data, the researcher used descriptive qualitative method.</strong></p><strong>After conducting the research, the researcher got several research findings. They are: 1). The reason of Little Bee’s social identity change are her envy towards British people’s easy life, her needs to tell her sad story, her will to survive, and her desire to overcome her past. 2). The way Little Bee learns her new identity is by reading, such as novels and newspaper, practicing how to pronounce and speak, looking for difficult words in her dictionary in order to learn the language, and learning the British life by watching television and reading books to understand the British lifestyle.</strong>

Tak Oyai dance is a cultural heritage of the community of Pesisir Selatan Regency, particularly Painan Timur. The research focused on Tak Oyai dance in the Aie Duku Village, where the dance is herited from their ancestors. This research used qualitative method; where data is collected by observation, interviews, and documentation using equipments such as video and audio recorder, also camera. Research findings prove that Tak Oyai dance is recognized as a cultural heritage in the social and cultural life of the community, however it is not recognized as the current tradition and culture of the Aie Duku community, therefore it is rarely presented in entertaining and ceremonial event. In the other hand there is still an attempt preserve the dance although not yet successful.

This research deals with the development of  self concept of Hiroko as the main character in Namaku Hiroko by Nh. Dini and tries to identify how Hiroko is portrayed in the story, how she interacts with other characters and whether she is portrayed as a character dominated by ”I” element or  ”Me”  element seen  from sociological and cultural point of view. As a qualitative research in nature, the source of data in this research is the novel Namaku Hiroko (1967) and the data ara analyzed and presented deductively. The result of this analysis shows that in the novel, Hiroko as a fictional character is  portrayed as a girl whose personality  develops and changes drastically from ”Me”  to ”I”. When she was still in the village  l iving with her parents, she was portrayed as a obedient girl who was loyal to the parents, polite and acted in accordance with the social customs. In short, her personality was dominated by ”Me”  self concept. On the other hand, when she moved to the city (Kyoto), she was portrayed as a wild girl  no longer controlled by the social customs. She was  firm and determined totake decisions of  her won  for her future without considering what other people would say about her. She did not want to be treated as object. To put it in another way, her personality is more dominated by the ”I” self concept.

On Right and Reasonableness among Foes and Friends, and on Judging the Living and the Dead in Max Kestner’s film I am Fiction”In 2011, the performance artist Thomas Skade-Rasmussen Strøbech lost a lawsuit against his former friend and collaborator Helge Bille Nielsen and the publishing house of Gyldendal. This led to a debate about copyright, freedom of expression, identity, and the line between fiction and reality. In 2008, Nielsen or Das Beckwerk published the novel The Sovereign where Strøbech – seemingly without his knowledge and apparently against his will – is the main character. About a year after losing the lawsuit Strøbech and film director Max Kestner gives his version of the events before, during, and after the trial in the film I am Fiction (Identitetstyveriet). This article analyzes I am fiction in order to show how the film on the one hand outlines Strøbech’s version of the events as a story about a victim but on the other hand undermines this version with humor and irony and points towards an artistic collaboration between alleged victim and villain.

Incarcerationpertains to the limitations imposed upon a particular person. Social imprisonment on the other hand does not require a particular place in order to confine an individual or a group of people. Their conformity then turns out to become an injected-hobby. This study intends to explore the paths which Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison highlighted in her era, because they contain an impressive contemporariness. The social incarceration of the marginalised lot, particularly the subaltern among them has been her major arcana. Through a keen examination of the novel A Mercy, the paper attempts to put forward the contemporary relevance of the issues addressed. The practice of slave-trade was a visible imprisonment of the marginalised, while the current society dealing with the aphasia of neo-colonialism is in itself an extended form of indirect detention. Slave trade acted as a synonym for flesh trade in relation to the marginalised women who have thus been troubled by double-incarceration. Psychoanalysis has been used as a scale of measurement in order to trace the inner captivities of the victims. It is apprehensible that Toni Morrison as a writer justified her position of being an ambassador of the marginalised women while possessing important concurrent connotations. The study provides an insightful glimpse into the hidden beastliness of the contemporary incarceration. Be it direct or indirect suppression, visible or invisible restraints, the current is the ugliest growth of a tumour. Thus, the deadly foreordination of the conceptualisations present in her texts have turned out to become a realistic modern day practice.

Since this novel discussed about the domination of factions in the novel as delineation in social class or social life and struggle of the factions in society, this novel was analyzed using Marxism theory. The method used was descriptive qualitative to explain the kinds of factions and the struggles of the factions considered as social classes to get the power in society. Thus, this novel was analyzed using the theory Marxism which focused on the kinds of factions the struggles the factions done. The data were in the form of utterances in Divergent novel written by veronica Roth. The result of the research showed that factions in the novel depicted the social class in society as there are powerless and powerful faction group.They are categorized as bourgeois or capitalism and proletarian. Therefore, the researcher classified the events in the novel related to factions which were similar to social classes. The faction of Abnegation and Erudite are the same as the bourgeois or capitalism because they often oppress the weak and always want to control all factions with the wealth and power they have. On the other hand, Dauntless, Amity and Candor are the same as the proletarian because they are oppressed factions which have no power in society. The factions did some efforts or struggles to maintain or to get the power in society. It can be concluded that this novel uncovered the life of social class which was represented by faction and the struggles done in terms of getting the power and surviving the life.Keywords: marxism, social class, faction, Divergent  AbstrakNovel Divergent bercerita tentang faksi dalam masyarakat. Karena novel banyak membahas tentang faksi sebagai gambaran dalam suatu kelas sosial atau kehidupan sosial dan perjuangan masing-masing faksi dalam masyarakat, maka novel ini dianalisis menggunakan teori Marxisme. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif untuk menjelaskan jenis-jenis faksi dan perjuangan faksi-faksi yang dianggap sebagai kelas sosial untuk mendapatkan kekuasaan dalam masyarakat. Dengan demikian, novel ini dianalisis menggunakan teori Marxisme yang fokus pada jenis-jenis faksi dan perjuangan yang dilakukan. Data penelitian berupa pernyataan/ujaran dalam novel Divergent yang ditulis oleh veronica Roth. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faksi-faksi dalam novel tersebut menggambarkan kelas sosial dalam masyarakat karena ada kelompok faksi yang lemah dan kuat. Mereka dikategorikan sebagai borjuis atau kapitalisme dan proletar. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mengklasifikasikan peristiwa-peristiwa dalam novel yang berkaitan dengan faksi-faksi yang mirip dengan kelas-kelas sosial. Faksi Abnegation dan Erudite memiliki kesamaan dengan borjuis atau kapitalisme karena mereka sering menindas yang lemah dan selalu ingin mengendalikan semua faksi dengan kekayaan dan kekusaanyang dimiliki. Di sisi lain, Dauntless, Amity and Candor sama dengan proletar karena mereka adalah faksi tertindas yang tidak memiliki kekuasaan dan kekuatan dalam masyarakat. Faksi-faksi melakukan beberapa upaya atau perjuangan untuk mempertahankan atau mendapatkan kekuasaan di masyarakat. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa novel ini mengungkap kehidupan kelas sosial yang diwakili oleh faksi dan perjuangan yang dilakukan dalam hal mendapatkan kekuasaan dan bertahan hidup.Kata kunci: marxisme, kelas social, faksi, Divergent

Palamás, Echevete y yo o el lago asfaltado (Palamás, Echevete and I or the asphalted lake), Mexican Diego Cañedo’s second novel (1945), elaborates the time travel to the Mexican past. The sci-fi theme of the novel sustains a social criticism, and imitates H. G. Wells’ The Time Machine plot. In this essay, the sociocritical part of Cañedo’s work is studied, on one hand, because it seems to respond to the social problems of the period 1934-1946; and, on the other hand, because the relations established with Wells’ novel.

Процессы, происходящие в современном информационном мире, неизбежно влияют на традиционные сообщества. Интернет является площадкой, где активно распространяются традиционные тексты, имевшие ранее ограниченное хождение в силу специфики их сохранения и воспроизведения. Представители непальской народности лимбу создали группу в социальной сети Facebook, где публикуют свои мифы, генеалогии, сказки и предания. Через платформу соцсети мифы доходят до более широкой аудитории, к тому же она предоставляет возможность для активного обсуждения. Меняется язык (с языка лимбу на непальский) и форма изложения (с поэтической на прозаическую). Мифы воспроизводятся не со слов шаманов, но по письменным источникам: санскритским текстам, работам европейских и местных ученых. Это иллюстрирует стремление лимбу придать «вес» собственной религии и традиции. Намечается разрыв в мифоритуальных практиках. Ритуал обсуждается только в связи с жертвоприношениями, которые воспринимаются частью участников как признак отсталости общества. Наибольшую значимость приобретает антропогонический миф, поскольку именно вера в общее происхождение является одним из важнейших критериев этничности. Активное воспроизведение мифа о творении человека в социальных сетях является одним из факторов, позволяющих лимбу сохранять чувство этнической общности Traditional societies are inevitably influenced by processes happening in the modern informational world. The internet is a place for active distribution of traditional texts, which formerly had limited circulation. The Limbu (or Yakthung) people of Nepal have created a Facebook group where they post their myths, genealogies, tales and legends. The social network makes it easy for these myths to reach a broad audience and provides an opportunity for active discussion. The language used is changing - from the Limbu language to Nepali - as well as the medium of speech (from the poetry to prose). The posted myths are based not on a shaman’s words but on written sources, i. e. Sanskrit texts, and works of local or foreign scholars. This shows how the Limbu aim to raise the profile of their religion and tradition. A rupture may be seen in mythical and ritual practices. Ritual is only discussed in the context of sacrifices, which some of the Limbu consider a sign of social backwardness. On the other hand, the anthropogonic myth has been gaining additional importance because the belief in common ancestry constitutes one of the most important criteria of ethnicity. Active sharing of anthropogonic myths on the social network thus allows the Limbu to preserve their sense of ethnic unity.

In our day, the new media has become an inseparable part of the daily life. Since the internet and the social media have been widespread, the new media has been effective in socio-cultural changes and transformations. On the other hand, this process, which is also called as digitalization, is not only effective in the new media. The relation between the traditional media and the new media has also been under transformation. In this study, based on the relation between the mainstream cinema and the new media, “YouTuber movies” are investigated. In this context, the selected “YouTuber movies” were examined via genre criticism method, and the data was interpreted in the conclusions part.

The objectives of the study are to describe the social condition of the novel and the other sources and to analyze the novel by means of sociological aspect to know the social condition in Paris during the French revolution in the novel A tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, focusing on the portrait of social condition in Paris. The methods used in this research are observation and documentation. The research findings are; first, there are injustice conditions before the revolution have done by the aristocrats such as politic, economy, oppression, and so on which have to face by the citizens. Second, all the injustice has done by aristocrats made social disappointment and led to revolution. Third, the government, even in absolute monarchy term, could be ruined by united people in the same purpose; they wanted better change for their country.

This research is entitled Liberal Feminist Values As Reflected In Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. This novel described a woman who broke her wedding because she wants to feel the love. Through Anna Karenina, she fought for her rights to express her opinion to her husband. The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of the main character and feminist characteristics of the main character in the novel. Qualitative method is applied in this research. The main data source in this study is Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina and to complete the data source, this research also uses other books, reviews of novels, films and sources from the internet. The method of data analysis in this study is qualitative method. In this study, a feminist approach from Rosamarie Tong and "Liberal Feminists" from Betty Friedan are employed in this research. The researcher also analyzed the main characters by describing their characteristics using the theory from M.J. Murphy. Based on the analysis, the results of this study have produced several conclusions. First, character of Anna Karenina descriptions by people around her in some characterization there are beautiful, kind, loving, mysterious and negative thinking. Second, Anna Karenina struggle her opinion in public especially her husband. She wants to express and defending her opinion. However, seen from liberal feminism perspective the main character show direct resistence with maintains her opinion and ignore opinion from her husband.
