Abstract: The purpose of this study is to describe the mathematical connection processes of Junior High School students in solving open-ended problems. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data of this research were obtained through tests and interviews. The mathematical connections processes can be seen when students solve open ended mathematics story problems. The connection processes are based on three types of connections, namely concepts connections, procedures connection, and modelling connections. The research concluded that students can use all known information and connect the information so that they get the solution. The process of students’ mathematical connection is happened when the students were able to change the mathematical story problem into mathematical model and to connect mathematical concepts and procedures. However, in general, students only solve one solution even the problem was open ended. The reason is that the students rarely have experience in solving open ended mathematics problem.

Mathematics anxiety of high school students in learning mathematics in the network has a lot of influence on the ongoing learning until the results obtained. The influence of math anxiety has an effect ranging from understanding mathematical concepts to student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the level of anxiety experienced by students in undergoing online learning and determine the bias between respondents and statements on the questionnaire. This research was conducted through a combined approach of quantitative and qualitative using a survey method. The subjects of this research are students with a range of secondary education who are undergoing online learning and totaling 225 students with 155 female students and 70 male students. Data was collected through the distribution of an instrument in a questionnaire regarding students' mathematics anxiety. Furthermore, the data obtained is measured through the Rasch model and processed with the help of the Winsteps application. After the data was obtained, interviews were conducted to determine the causes that support students' mathematical anxiety in the online learning system. In this study, the results obtained that anxiety tends to be high in the implementation of learning in the network. There are three categories: high anxiety 17.33%, moderate anxiety 73.78 %, and low anxiety 8.89%. This study also found various triggers for the presence of mathematical anxiety that can be used to understand the condition of students. Through DIF (Differential Item Functioning), some differences/biases can be used as references for further research.

The mathematical connection is a crucial ability possessed by vocational high school students in solving problems by their field of expertise. Agriculture is a field of expertise that requires a lot of mathematical connection skills to solve various problems. Increasing the ability of students' mathematical connections can be facilitated by the teacher by constructing mathematical tasks in the agricultural sector. This qualitative research using the case study method describes the construction of mathematical tasks based on agricultural products and the mathematical connection ability of students in solving the task. Mathematical task construction is carried out by integrating agricultural product contexts and mathematical concepts. The mathematical task was used in Grade X Agribusiness Expertise students of Agricultural Product Processing. Data retrieval of students' mathematical connection abilities was carried out through tests, observation results, answer sheets, and interviews that focused on connecting contexts with mathematical concepts, connections between mathematical concepts, and connections to mathematical procedures. The results of the student data analysis showed that the ability of mathematical connections was hampered by the ability of the connection between mathematical concepts. It is necessary to increase student's mathematical connections by constructing mathematical tasks with various mathematical concepts.

Math anxiety has been the focus of much psychological and educational research in the past few years, there are many international studies showing that mathematics anxiety is an influence on student’s achievements in school, but little research has been done about this issue in Bahrain. Bahrain is a country in the Arabian Gulf region, its economic development is increasing rapidly, and there is currently a focus on improving the school education outcomes to fit the 21st century requirements. Bahrain started a huge curriculum project in September 2013 by changing the primary math curriculum across the country, and will continue the changes to secondary curriculum in the coming years. These changes are intended to improve mathematics education in the country, since Bahraini math scores have been below the international mean for a very long time. This study attempts to investigate if there is a relationship between anxiety and underachieving in mathematics in Bahrain. The Revised Mathematics Anxiety (R-MANX) Survey (Bursal, 2006) was translated into Arabic and administered to 1352 primary students. The data was analyzed to explore the reliability and validity of the translated survey and the associations between Mathematics anxiety and achievement. This paper reports the findings of the study.
