This study used an experimental method in the laboratory with a randomized design with five treatments and six repetitions. The parameters examined were cholinesterase (ChE), Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST), and serum Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) of blood in the first and second treatment stages. Data were analyzed using factorial ANOVA test and LSD multiple comparison test with 95% confidence level with R software version 3.6.2. Wistar rats were given chlorpyrifos (6.75, 13.5, 27, 54) mg/kg BW/day orally once a day for 28 consecutive days, then further intervention with curcumin (27, 54, 108 and 216) mg/kg BW/day once a day for 14 consecutive days. A significant increase in ChE activity and a significant decrease in AST and ALT activity. This study shows that curcumin from Curcuma longa Linn rhizome extract provides a protective effect against chlorpyrifos poisoning in Wistar rats.

Wound examination is indispensable in forensic practice. The scientific field of wound age determination has advanced progressively during recent years. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of fibronectin and TGF-β1 expression in both antemortem and postmortem wounds. This study was an experimental with completely randomized design.  The skin wounds (vital and postmortem) were taken from fourty Wistar rats and divided into 10 groups of rats. Immunohistochemical staining was performed to determine the differences between antemortem and postmortem wounds. The result showed that in 30 minutes after antemortem wound infliction, all of samples showed weak reactivity for fibronectin and TGF-β1 (100%).  In first hour after wound infliction, 3 samples (75%) showed weakly positive and 1 sample (25%) strongly positive for fibronectin and TGF-β1.  In 2 hour after wound infliction, 1 sample (25%) showed weakly positive and 3 sample (75%) strongly positive for fibronectin and TGF-β1.  In 3 and 4 hour after wound infliction, all of samples strongly positive for fibronectin and TGF-β1.  In postmortem wound, all of samples showed negativity for fibronectin and TGF-β1. In conclusion, fibronectin and TGF-β1 may be useful in the determination of wound vitality. Keywords: wound, fibronectin, TGF-β1, vitality

This research aims to determine the effect of plasticizer types and concentrations on the characteristics of glucomannan bioplastics, and to determine the types and concentrations of plasticizers that can produce glucomannan bioplastics with the best characteristics. This experimental design used a completely randomized design method. Factor I is a type of plasticizer consisting of glycerol, sorbitol, propanol-2, and polyethylene glycol. The second factor is the concentration of plasticizers which consists of 4 levels, namely 0.5%: 1.5%: 2.5%: 3.5%. The experiment resulted in 16 treatment combinations and grouped into 2 groups to obtain 32 experimental units. The data were analyzed for their diversity and continued with the Duncan multiple comparison test. The results showed that the type and concentration of plasticizers had a very significant effect on tensile strength, elongation at break, modulus young, and swelling. The interaction has a very significant effect on tensile strength and expansion and has a significant effect on the elasticity of glucomannan bioplastics. Meanwhile, the type and concentration of plasticizers had no significant effect on the length of biodegradation. The best glucomannan bioplastic was obtained in the treatment of glycerol plasticizers with a concentration of 1.5 % with a tensile strength value of 6.17 MPa, elongation at break of 21.50 %, elasticity 28.72 MPa development 25.84 %, and degradation time of 8 days. Bioplastics produced in this study have meet the SNI 7188.7:2016 standards in the elongation test at break and standards ASTM 5336 in the degradation time variables. The resulting bioplastic has not met SNI on the tensile strength, modulus young, and swelling variables. Keywords : bioplastic, glucomannan, glycerol, polyethylene glycol, propanol-2, sorbitol

Abstract Mefenpyr-diethyl is a foliar-acting safener of the pyrazoline chemical group, and after its absorption, the metabolization and detoxification of herbicides occur in treated plants. Studies have demonstrated the protective effect of this safener for the herbicide fenoxaprop-P-ethyl in grass. Thus, this work aimed to evaluate whether a tank mixture of mefenpyr-diethyl has a protective response to haloxyfop-methyl in non-perennial bahiagrass. The experiment had a completely randomized design and was carried out in a greenhouse, using five replications with a 10x2 factorial scheme and ten doses of haloxyfop-methyl (0.00, 0.24, 0.49, 0.97, 1.95, 3.90, 7.79, 15.59, 31.28, and 62.35 g a.i. ha-1) in the presence or absence of a tank mixture of mefenpyr-diethyl (50 g a.i. ha-1). Phytotoxicity and electron transport rate (ETR) were evaluated at 7, 14, 21, and 28 days after application (DAA), in addition to plant height and dry biomass at 28 DAA. In general, phytotoxicity increased due to the higher levels of the herbicide haloxyfop-methyl. The application of mefenpyr-diethyl, in turn, provided lower levels of phytotoxicity, as well as lower reductions in ETR, height, and dry biomass when compared to untreated plants. These results show the safener action of a tank mixture of mefenpyr-diethyl on low doses of haloxyfop-methyl in non-perennial bahiagrass.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the supplementation of turmeric in the diet on antioxidant status and growth performance of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) in zero water exchange condition. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 4 replications. Each treatment consisted of feed supplementation turmeric at dosage of 0; 2.5; 5 or 7.5 g kg-1 diet. One hundred catfish juvenile (5.95±0.05 g) were stocked in intermediate bulk container (IBC) tank (1×1×1 m3) and rearing in zero water exchange condition for 60 days. Catfish were fed at satiation twice a day, in the morning and evening. The results showed that an increase in antioxidant content in catfish fed with the addition of turmeric, which simultaneously also reduced the percentage of liver damage. The parameters of liver damage can be seen from several parameters i.e. pale liver, droplet fat and fat content in the addition of turmeric treatment is lower than without the addition of turmeric. However, catfish fed with the addition of turmeric did not show significant results in terms of growth performances.
