The study explores the effect of Universal Primary Enrollment (UPE) initiative on the classroom practices in the public sector schools in Punjab. Access to primary education is an identified goal for a number of developing countries where determined efforts for achieving the targets for school going children are nearing fruition. Although the UPE drive in the public sector schools shows a positive trend towards the achievement of enrollment targets, however the increased enrollment has also affected the standard of education in public sector schools. The study used a multi case study approach by means of a quantitative research design. Three different schools from three different districts were selected as sample using purposive sampling technique purposively from the public sector schools of Punjab. Classroom observations were conducted for the understanding of increased enrollment impact on teachers’ practices in class. Each case was observed for a week; each observation checklist category was observed on separate week days. The finding of the study reveal that the increase in student enrollments had a considerable effect on teachers’ performance as the bigger class sizes, created problems in managing the class; score student work, and provide responses on student performance. The substantial increase in the workload puts teachers under pressure and makes it challenging to efficiently manage a positive learning environment.

The study explores the impact of length of service and demographic variables on the organizational role stress on the public sector bank employees. The questionnaire employed in this study is Organisational Role Stress (ORS) scale developed by Prof. Udai Pareek (1983) where the length of service, gender, age, education, number of family members and income are independent variables and Organisational Role Stress (ORS) is the dependent variable. The sample for the study consist of 415 public sector bank employees. Simple random sampling is used as a sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Multiple Regression. The results revealed that length of service, age, education, and income significantly impact the organizational role stress (ORS) on the public sector bank employees.

This study analyses and examines in detail the impact of public sector innovation to improve public satisfaction level, it is about changing the traditional government into a more integrated and efficient one. Innovation is actually the engine of economic growth. Innovation in the public sector is an under-researched area. It deals with governance, political and human issues which are very difficult to solve. Since much of the topic and studies on innovation are focusing on the private sector, it is the aim of this study to analyse the process of innovation, mainly in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the public sector. This study will eventually be able to give e-government model/ guidelines that encapsulates the reality of innovation by the government. Innovation in government is not only about bringing a new breakthrough product to the people, but also to bring in changes to the culture in the organisation, the way a decision is made, and perhaps more importantly, how it can use technology to strengthen its role as the provider of social and economic welfare to the people. This study has also compared the findings of the e-government case study to the literature of innovation mainly in the area of process innovation. There is SWOT analysis with weight rating to judge the e-governance challenges, which Pakistan is facing as a developing nation. The study concludes that the public sector needs to overcome its traditional characteristics of poor agenda setting, unclear objectives, lack of transparency, and bureaucratic layers of decision-making processes. This research was conducted in the area of North Central Timor Government District of Central Miomafo Nian village on 18 November 2013 to 18 May 2014 This study examines the impact of the transformation of the livelihood and economic and social conditions (Case Study On Business / Manganese Mineral Mining Activities Region Iup PT. Bun Yan Hasanah in Nian village Miomafo District of Central North Central Timor). With the aim to determine the impact of the transformation of the livelihood  and  economic  and  social  conditions,  the  type  of  research  used  is descriptive analytical approach using ex post facto that the data collected after the incident  took place.  With each  study variable,  namely  (1) changes  in the orientation of the public about livelihood, (2) economic conditions, (3) social conditions. The sampling technique was conducted by distributing questionnaires and direct interviews or questionnaires to 20 respondents who are involved actively in mining activities. Data were collected and analyzed by using AHP method. Results and discussion illustrate that the impact on the livelihood transformation of economic conditions  showed  the  highest  value  of  67%  and  is  followed  by  changes  in  the livelihood of 25% and 8% of social conditions. The fact indicates that the level 1 criteria matiks that economic criteria with sub-criteria fulfillment necessities of life ie 27% priority to the welfare of society villagers Nian District of Central Miomafo TTU.

This research aims to analyze women’s participation in tourism activities in the Outer Baduy tribe, according to the tourism components consisting of attraction, amenity, accessibility, and ancillary (supporting factors). This research uses a qualitative research method, in which data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. This research involved 18 informants from several stakeholders, such as the tourism awareness group, handicraft producers, homestay and restaurant owners, government officers, and tourists who have visited the destination. Informants’ selection uses a purposive sampling technique. According to the tourism components, the research results show women’s participation in tourism activities in the Outer Baduy tribe, only two of four tourism components: attraction and amenity. In the attraction component, women possess more or less the same level of participation as men. However, in the amenity component, women may have a higher level of participation than men may. In the accessibility and ancillary (supporting factors) components, only men participation existed. The limited level of women’s participation is rooted deep and taken for granted in their culture. The women themselves do not dispute inequality and disparity because they consider their role as women in the domestic sector and not in the public sector.

The experiences of violence against women employees can lead to long-term psychosocial problems in institutions, thereby preventing them from becoming productive citizens. Although many studies have focused on the effects of violence on women’s job performance, there exist few works on the effects of community violence on women’s emotional demand in the workplace. To address this gap, this research examines the impact of community violence on emotional labor and emotional dissonance in the public sector. This study involved 67 participants (20 semi-structured interviews, 32 participants in four focus group discussions, and 15 key informants), derived using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to explore participants’ explanations about the exposure and expression of community violence on women’s emotional demands. Explanations were presented in terms of exposure (the state of being exposed to community violence) and expression (the reaction of victims to exposure in the workplace). The findings showed that the exposure of community violence on emotional labor can be expressed into three classifications: Gum up, Bottle up, and Defeatists (GBD). Furthermore, the study found out that women employees tend to conceal their felt emotions mainly due to the fear of reprisal, chiding rebuttal, and lack of support. The findings of the current study have policy implications. They can inform the micro-, meso-, and macro-level intervention efforts in mitigating the impacts of community violence on women’s emotional demand at work.


This paper investigates the influence of intellectual capital on organizational performance in the public sector and studies the interconnections between intellectual capital variables within the latter setting. It follows a quantitative research approach where data was collected from 371 employees in a public entity within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The findings highlight the importance of human, social and organizational capital in enhancing performance in the studied organization. Furthermore, the results show that the examined forms of capital can be interconnected. These outcomes support the earlier findings on the positive impact of intellectual capital variables on performance and, provide valuable and rather rare insights on the latter interrelationships within the GCC public sector.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study how different types of trust develop and change over time in the collaboration between an organization and its board. Design/methodology/approach This paper is a response to a recent call to apply the concept of trust in understanding the collaboration between a public organization, its board, and other stakeholders. Here, the authors study a single case, and based on a longitudinal in-depth case study method covering the period of 2003–2015, the authors have conducted 27 interviews, including the CEO and all the board members. Findings The authors introduce and advance the concept of trust in the public sector literature on board work. This paper shows that trust is complex and multidimensional at different units of analysis. The types of trust discussed in this paper are cognitive, affective, contractual, competence, and goodwill. Different types of trust are developed to make the collaboration between a governed organization and its board to work. Research limitations/implications Because this paper uses the case study method and only studies one single case, the findings of this paper might be questioned on the issue of generalization. Originality/value The authors conceptualize and adopt trust as a multidimensional, dynamic concept, and with different units of analyses, capture the nature of the collaboration between a public organization and its board, and its complexity.

This study aimed to identify the impact of social media advertising on making a buying decision Internet of university students. In these days, social media is one of the strongest approaches to promote, sell or buy products or services. It is preferred by all businesses regardless of the size and capability of the companies to reach out millions of protentional customers over the world. People are browsing the internet and social media daily on the public transportation and during their leisure time. Thug, This is a great opportunity to create business possibilities due to the potential of this market which has been continuously growing in the past decade. Therefore, this research focuses on finding out the key factors of social media that affect the purchase behaviour of university. For this reason, it is cantered on the elements of the extent of satisfaction, the spent time on social media, the strength of social media compared to mass media, and reviews are written by customers who have bought. Based on these factors, four hypotheses of the study were developed as a part of the research model. The conducted method was quantitative research, and data was collected from Istanbul university students. Data was analysed with SPSS.

Abstract The article aims to identify if there is an interdependence between the main budgetary revenues and the macroeconomic indicators which can be found in the official forecasts. The proposed econometric method may constitute an alternative way of checking the consistency between the forecast of the budgetary indicators and the macroeconomic ones and can highlight in the same time the impact of some governmental policies on the public sector.

This reasearch is conducted on MSME (Micro Small Medium Enterprises) that are participated in the MSME Syari’ah Mentoring Program by Academition and Practitioners (PUSPA) organized by Bank Indonesia in Bandung. MSME who participated in PUSPA program 2016 is MSME that included in necessity entrepreneur where MSME operated just to fullfil the life necessities. This program aims to improve the competence of entrepreneurship owned by MSME in term of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. Increased in the entrepreneurial comptence will have an impact on MSME perfomance both on financial term by the increase in income and non-financial term namely by the increased of the knowledge and skills like simple accounting, managing the production process, how to market the product, and know the procedures for obtaining the venture capital. The purpose of this reasearch was to investigate the influence of the entrepreneurial competence on the MSME performance in PUSPA program 2016.Researcher used quantitative research method. This research use sampling technique on non-probability sampling that is saturated sampling because the members of population less than 30 people and the entire population is a sample. Total sample in this research is 20 respondents. Data collecting in this research is done by distributing questionarries to all respondents that is MSME that pariticaped in PUSPA program 2016. Data were analyzed using simple regression analysis and descriptive-causal analysis.The result showed that entrepreneurial competenec affect the performance of MSME that participated in PUSPA Program 2016. Based on the calculation, coefficent of determination (R2) can be seen the influence of entrepreneurial compentence variable (X) on the performance (Y) is 61.7%. While the remaining 38.3 is influenced by other factors such as mentoring, motivation, and human resources.
