Aim: to assess the effectiveness of a comprehensive educational package on knowledge regarding promotion of health and prevention of complications among hypertensive patients. Objectives: (i) To assess the pre and post test level of knowledge regarding promotion of health and prevention of complications among hypertensive patients. (ii) To evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive educational package on knowledge regarding promotion of health and prevention of complications among hypertensive patients. (iii) To find out the association between the post test level of knowledge on the promotion of health and prevention of complications with selected socio-demographic variables of patients with hypertension. Methodology: A Pre experimental research design was carried out in this study. 60 samples were selected by using non-probability purposive sampling technique. The pre and post test level of knowledge was assessed by using structured knowledge questionnaires. Results: The pre test mean was 11.5 with a standard deviation of 3.24 and the post test mean was 24.37 with a standard deviation of 2.98. The mean difference of pre and post test is 12.87; standard error is 0.29. The ‘T’ value is 44.37 is Highly Significant at p<0.05 it indicates that the knowledge level of hypertensive patients regarding promotion of health and prevention of complications was increased after the comprehensive educational package. Conclusion: The study concluded that the level of knowledge among hypertensive patients is increased after giving a comprehensive educational package and it proved that a comprehensive educational package increases the level of knowledge. Hypertension (HTN) is an enormous health problem and is one of the biggest health challenges in the 21st century. Effective management in hypertension requires a multi-sectorial approach. Dietary management plays a vital role in managing blood pressure especially beetroot juice which contains nitrates helps in vasodilation thus reducing hypertension. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of information booklet on knowledge regarding hypertension and supplementation of beetroot juice among hypertensive patients and To find the association between mean pre-test knowledge score about hypertension and supplementation of beet root juice with the selected demographic variables. A pre-experimental one group, pre-test post-test design was used for the study. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 30 hypertensive patients. The investigator assessed the knowledge regarding HTN and supplementation of beetroot juice in managing hypertension using structured knowledge questionnaire and then the information booklet was administered to the subjects. The collected data was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The mean post-test knowledge score (x2=23.87) was higher than the mean pre-test knowledge score (x1=17.40). The mean difference between post-test and pre-test knowledge score was highly significant. The obtained ‘t’ value (11.75) is higher than the table value (t29=1.70 at p<0.05 level significance). There was no significant association between knowledge score and selected demographic variables like age, gender, religion, education, occupation, income, and duration of illness. (2=2.143, 2=0.536, 2=0.000, 2=0.536, 2=2.143, 2=0.133, 2=0.536). Hence it can be concluded that information booklet is an effective strategy for providing information and improving the knowledge of adult hypertensive patients.

Introduction: Self-medication is an old practice and may be defined as drug acquisition and consumption without physician’s advice either for diagnosis, prescription, or treatment monitoring. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of self-instructional module on knowledge and side-effects regarding self-medication among adolescents. Materials and Methods: The present study with pre and post-test design was conducted on 70 adolescents selected from Wardha, Maharashtra, India. The adolescents were selected based on non probability convenient sampling technique. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data. Paired t-test was used to compute the mean, Standard Deviation (SD) and mean percentages. The unpaired t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to associate the demographic variables with level of knowledge. Results: Majority of the subjects were in the age group of 17 years and were females. Pre-test mean score was 10.91 and post-test mean score was 9.03. The effectiveness of the self-instructional modules on the knowledge regarding side-effects of self-medication was statistically significant (p=0.034). Conclusion: The current study revealed that a self-instructional module as a teaching on side-effects of self-medication effectively improved the knowledge level of adolescents.

Aim: to assess the effectiveness of self -instructional module (SIM) on knowledge regarding prevention of cervical cancer among women Objectives To assess the pretest and post test level of knowledge of women regarding cervical cancer. To assess the effectiveness of self -instructional module on cervical cancer among women at Villupuram. To find association between the post- tests knowledge scores with selected Socio-Demographic variables among women. Methods & Material: A quantitative research approach-Pre-experimental one group pretest and post- test design was adopted. 50 samples were selected for the study by using non probability convenient sampling technique. Results: The pretest mean 9.28 with the standard deviation of 2.23 and the post-test mean 21.62 with the standard deviation of 2.3; the mean difference between pretest and post-test is 12.34and standard error is 0.45. the paired ‘t' test value is 27.3 which is highly significant and it indicates that the Self instructional Module Improved the level of knowledge regarding cervical cancer among the women. Hence hypothesis H1 is accepted. The findings shows that there is no significant association between the knowledge of cervical cancer among women with selected socio demographic variables. Conclusion: The study concluded that, self-instructional module (SIM) on prevention of cervical cancer was effective in improving the knowledge level among women. BACKGROUND HIV infection is one of the most leading infections in the world. According to WHO HIV constitutes to be a major global public health issue, having claimed almost 33 million so far. There were an estimation of 38.0 million people living with the HIV at the end of 2019. As a result of concerted international efforts to respond to HIV , coverage of services has been steadily increasing. In 2019, 68% of adults and 53% of children living with HIV globally were receiving lifelong antiretroviral therapy (ART). There is no cure of HIV infections , however effective antiretroviral drugs can the control of virus and help onward transmission to other people. The knowledge regarding HIV infections in the public is a not much. The study focuses on the effectiveness of self instructional module on knowledge regarding the HIV among the drivers in Kancheepuram, Chennai. The objectives of the study was to assess the pre and post test of the self instructional module. For the study 60 samples were adopted by purposive sampling technique. The pre test was conducted by giving the structured questionnare then the module was given and then the post assessment was conducted. The study was conducted for 1 week. In the pre assessment 52(86.7%) were having inadequate knowledge and 8(13.3%) had moderately inadequate knowledge. In the post test 50(83.33%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 10(16.67%) has adequate knowledge. The effectivess of self instructional module was calculated by the paired t test (t=12.880) was found to be statistically highly significant at p<0.001 OBJECTIVE To assess the pre test level of existing knowledge on HIV among drivers. (2)To determine the effectiveness of self instructional module on HIV among drivers. (3)To find the association between the level of knowledge with their selected demographic variables METHODS Quantative research approach and pre experimental one group pre test post test design was used to assess the effectiveness of self instructional module on HIV to drivers. After obtaining permission from Saveetha College Of Nursing , the investigator selected 60 drivers by using purposive sampling technique. The sample who met the inclusion criteria were selected by purposive sampling technique . The investigator introduced and explained the purpose of the study to the samples and obtain the written confirmed. The purpose of the study were explained to the drivers. Section A: It consist of the demographic variables which include Age, sex, education. Occupation, monthly income, religion, marital status, type of family and dietary pattern.Section B- It consist 25 multiple choice questions to assess the effectiveness of self instructional module. RESULTS The drivers most of them 26(43.3%) were in the age group of 41 – 50 years, all 60(100%) were male, 45(75%) were private employee, 21(35%) had monthly income of 9000 – 11000 and above 11000 respectively, 45(75%) were married, 32(53.3%) belonged to nuclear family 45(75%) were non-vegetarian. Section B : Assess the pretest level of existing knowledge on HIV among drivers. The finding of the pretest 52(86.67%) had inadequate knowledge and 8(13.33%) had moderately adequate knowledge. Whereas in the post test, 50(83.33%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 10( 16.67%) had adequate knowledge on HIV among drivers CONCLUSIONS The findings revealed that the existing level of knowledge on HIV among drivers was improve the knowledge about HIV to be effective awareness by administered self instructional module

Aim: The study aims to create awareness among Tobacco users on knowledge regarding Oral Health Hazards. Objectives: i) To assess the pre and post test level of knowledge of oral health hazards among tobacco users. ii) To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge of oral health hazards among tobacco users. iii) To find the association between post test level of knowledge regarding oral health hazards among tobacco users with their socio demographic variables. Methods & Materials: A quantitative research approach-Pre-experimental research design with one group pre test and post test design was adopted. 50 samples were selected for the study by using non probability purposive sampling technique. Results: The study findings shows that in pre test level of knowledge among 50 samples 42(84%) had inadequate knowledge and 8(16%) had moderate adequate knowledge. In post test level of knowledge among 50 samples 33(66%) had moderate adequate knowledge and 17(34%) had had excellent knowledge. The pre test mean was 5.74 with the standard deviation of 10.29 and the post test mean was 14.6 with the standard deviation of 9.91 the mean difference of pre and post is 8.86; standard error is 1.401 ‘t’ value is 34.775 significant at p<0.05 it indicates that the knowledge level of tobacco users improved after structured teaching programme. The finding of the study shows that there is significant association between level of knowledge with occupation p<0.05. Conclusion: The study finding shows that, the post test level of knowledge is better than the pre-test knowledge. Hence it can be concluded that, structured teaching programme on oral health hazards was effective in improving the knowledge level among tobacco users. The one group pre and post-test design were conducted among 50 staff nurses. Purposive sampling techniques were used to select samples. A self-administered questionnaire was used to collect demographic data and knowledge on negative pressure wound therapy was assessed. The video was shown to the staff nurses after pre-test. The present study also shows that the demographic variables sex, professional qualification and wound care experience shows significant association with the post-test level of knowledge among staff nurse at p<0.0001 level and the demographic variables has shown statistically significant association with the post-test level of knowledge among staff nurse. This study concludes that video-assisted teaching program was significantly effectiveness in increasing the knowledge regarding negative pressure wound therapy.

Background: Puerperal sepsis is a postpartum complication, occurs when a recently delivered mother gets an infection while giving birth due to unhygienic practices and poor quality healthcare. If not treated properly in time may lead to death. Lack of awareness among healthcare providers can lead to higher rates of infection. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of information booklet on knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention among nurses working in selected hospitals of Kamrup (M), Assam. Methods: The pre experimental one group pre-test post-test research designed was adopted in the study. 100 nurses were selected as sample by using convenience sampling technique in selected hospitals of Kamrup (M), Assam. To assess the nurses’ knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention structured knowledge questionnaire was used. Results: In pre-test, the mean knowledge score was 11.76 with standard deviation 2.90. In post-test, the mean knowledge score was 19.81 with standard deviation 1.96. The calculated paired t test value of t = 33.352 was found to be statistically significant at p<0.001. Hence, information booklet on puerperal sepsis was found to be effective in improving the knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention. There was significant association between pre-test knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention and educational qualification. Conclusions: Majority of the nurses gained knowledge after referring the information booklet. Hence, awareness program in regular period will help in improving knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis among nurses to provide quality health care for a healthy society. Background: Breast cancer is one of the most frequent cancers among the women. It can be detected earlier and survival rate can be improved by screening every year. Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is the one of the best method s for identifying breast cancer. Rural population has less access to medical facilities and their knowledge is low. Therefore, it is essential to educate them about breast cancer, its prevention and early detection. This study was aimed to assess the knowledge level of females regarding breast cancer and breast self-examination. Materials & Methods: Non experimental descriptive design was adopted for this study. 80 samples were selected through non probability sampling technique and the setting of the study was a rural community of Idukki district, Kerala. A structured knowledge questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. Results: Majority, 57.5% of samples were having an average level of knowledge, 27.5% of samples had good level of knowledge and 8.7% of samples had poor knowledge and 7.5% was found havingexcellent level of knowledge. A significant association was observed between the knowledge and education (X2=14.061, P 0.05=12.54), knowledge and income (X2 =14.42, P 0.05=12.59) of women. But there was no association found between knowledge and other demographic variables.

Background: ‘Home and school is the primary source for beginning the food habits and in school, it is a place for learning and nurturing’ it is an important priority to provide intervention to improve their knowledge and competency of junk foods among adolescents. Materials and Methods: The study aimed to assess the effect of interaction through child to child approach on knowledge towards junk foods among adolescents. A quantitative evaluative approach with a one group pre-test  post-test design. The purposive sampling technique was used to collect data from 150 adolescents aged between 13-15 years, who were studying in Bhuvana Krishnan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kelambakkam, Chengalpattu district. The students were trained with instructional teaching programme based on child to child approach in the ratio of 1:10 for a period of one month. The structured standardized questionnaire on junk foods was used to assess the pre-test and post- test was conducted after 14 days. Results: The study findings revealed that the post test level of knowledge of junk foods among adolescents was found to be statistically significant compared to the pre test level at p<0.001. Conclusion: The instructional teaching programme on junk foods was effective in improving the level of knowledge of junk foods among adolescents.

A pre-experimental study to assess effectiveness of folk media on the knowledge and perception regarding Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY among selected population of U.P. was conducted with the objective to assess the effectiveness of folk media on the knowledge and perception regarding Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY among selected population of U.P. Pre experimental research design was adopted and non-probability convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample. A structured questionnaire of 25 questions and perception likert scale of 10 items was prepared to assess the knowledge and perception of population regarding Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY. A structured knowledge questionnaire and structured perception scale on Ayushman Bharat -PMJAY (pre-test) was administered to the group, followed by administration of folk media on the Day-1. Then on Day-7, post-test was conducted. Data obtained were analyzed and interpreted by using both descriptive and inferential statistics in terms of frequency, percentages, mean, and S.D. score. Findings showed that: majority of population i.e. 47 (78.33%) were having good knowledge whereas 12 of these samples (20%) were having excellent knowledge and 1 of these samples were having poor knowledge. It was evident from the results that the mean post-test knowledge and practice score were more than mean pre-test scores. Findings showed that folk media was effective to gain knowledge and favorable perception regarding Ayushman Bharat -PMJAY. majority of samples i.e. 48 (40%) were having favorable perception and only 12(60%) samples were having neutral perception. The calculated Z value (2.10) for knowledge and the calculated Z value (4.06) for perception is greater than the tabulated Z value (1.645) at 0.05 level of significance at (df =59) which concluded that the Folk Media was effective in improving the knowledge and perception towards Ayushman Bharat -PMJAY among selected population of U.P.Chi square test was done showed that there was significant association between the mean post-test knowledge score with selected demographic variables. It was also showed that there was a significant association between the mean post-test perception score with selected demographic variables. The Karl Pearson coefficient of correlation was computed (r = 0.19) which indicate no relationship between the knowledge post-test scores and perception post-test scores regarding Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY among selected population of U.P.
