One of the great traditions in Islamic education institutions in Indonesia is teaching by transmitting Islamic values as found in classical books written centuries ago. The majority in Indonesia, the classic book is better known as the Kitab Kuning. Teaching with the Kitab Kuning is usually done in Islamic Boarding Schools. Examining Kitab Kuning requires qualified Arabic language skills at least passively. Unfortunately, not all Islamic boarding schools that have a variety of superior programs in certain fields, are weak in the field of studying Kitab Kuning. One of them is the Islamic Boarding School Mu'allimin Muhammadiyyah Sawah Dangka which has the flagship Tahfizh Alquran program but is weak in the study of Kitab Kuning. One of the main factors is the lack of adequate quality of human resources. For this reason, this community service activity aims to provide training while introducing new, lightweight methods in learning Arabic, namely the Bihaqatil Jumal method. This method emphasizes learning Arabic using the right brain. After a series of community service activities, teachers and Islamic boarding schools felt helped and gained new experiences in learning Arabic methods to study Kitab Kuning. In addition, both the assisted object and the resource person requested that this kind of community service be continued.

Service activity, which is an essential part of modern economy, is constantly changing. The changing economic reality also involves changes in research orientations. Changes in the subject of interest in the literature related to geography of services are a reflection of the changes taking place in services. Economic changes, as well as technological and civilisation progress, result in the emergence of new directions of research, as well as the disappearance of some of the existing ones, which in current circumstances are losing their relevance. The beginnings of geography of services as a distinctive scientific discipline date back to the 1970s. Previously, service research was part of the field of settlement research. The 1970s brought an increased interest in services, which initiated the process of crystallising geography of services, manifested in both theoretical and methodological work. The article discusses current changes in Polish geography of services, in particular its new trends and research directions.

OBJECTIVES/SPECIFIC AIMS: As the issues facing our global society become more complex, university faculty are called upon to address these contemporary problems using interdisciplinary approaches. But do reappointment, promotion, and tenure (RPT) guidelines reflect and reward this fundamental change in the nature of higher education and scholarly inquiry? After collecting all of the RPT guidelines across the university, our research team at the University of Cincinnati (UC) conducted a content analysis of these documents to determine how collaborative work is defined, interpreted, and supported. In addition, we also sought to identify differences in how collaborative work is valued across disciplines and how that value has changed over time. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: An initial database was assembled that included two distinct data samples: historical and current. Both included RPT criteria for over 100 disciplinary units at the university. Working with the initial comprehensive database, the team narrowed content by selecting all language related to collaborative work using several relevant keywords or keyword fragments (team, collaborat[*], disciplin[*], and interprofessional). This process resulted in a subset of data reflecting the area of interest that could then be coded. Three investigators independently coded common portions of the data for categories. The investigators met regularly to compare the results of their coding, and discrepancies between the investigators’ coding schemes were resolved through discussion. The final, common coding scheme will used to code the remainder of the data by each independent investigator. The team meets weekly to discuss significant passages and assign codes, and then reach consensus related to important themes that are identified. Specifically, we will examine the frequency with which collaborative activities are included, the value and emphasis given to them, and the differences across units. Having a historical sample and a current sample also allows us to analyze trends over time and further compare disciplinary differences. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: UC is a diverse institution that includes world-renowned creative schools (the College Conservatory of Music and the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning), as well as traditional colleges of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, engineering, business, arts and sciences, etc. UC also includes two branch campuses that specialize in associate’s degree level education. Given the diversity in educational and research missions across these areas, we anticipate discovering several themes within the RPT guidelines, primarily centered around the traditional foundations of faculty work such as service, research, and teaching. We anticipate strong differences by college and disciplinary focus, with emphasis on collaborative work and engagement increasing as RPT guidelines become more current. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: Our experience is that faculty members want to engage in collaborative work when possible and appropriate, but their perception is that independent contributions to their field are more highly valued than interdisciplinary work. As universities rush to endorse and promote interdisciplinary, team-oriented research and teaching, this study will afford a better understanding of the types of activities valued at one large and diverse urban institution, grounded in the actual language of RPT criteria.

History shows thatthe boarding school is not only able to keep resistance fromexposure to the times, but also can take care of its developmentwhich continues to increase over time. According to existing data, the institution was first established, especially in Java, in the 15thcentury by Maulana Malik Ibrahim (one of the oldest walisongo)and then developed by the other walisongo. At the end of the 19thcentury, the number of boarding school in Java developed reaches300 boarding school, and based on the Notes Database boardingschools of ministry of religion RI, the number of boarding schoolsthe year 2018, this amounts to about 21,321. Sambas conflict in 1997 and 1999 caused big number of refugees, mainly Madureses, which spread in various regions. Many young refugees were sheltered at Islamic boarding schools (pondok pesantren), especially in East Java. They usually got special treatment, from financial dispensation to psychological assistance. One pondok pesantren accommodating the Victims of Sambas conflict was Raudlatul Ulum 1 Ganjaran Gondanglegi Malang. Although it did not have particular program to handle those young victims, a number conflict victims were found. The research problems are formulated as follows: (1) how is the Sambas conflict victims’ perception on multiculturalism at Islamic boarding School Raudlatul Ulum 1; (2) what is the role of the boarding school in the formation of their perception on multiculturalism? It is a field research with qualitative approach. This research resulted that the conflict which the victims had experienced in Sambas had provided deep trauma, especially psychologically one. Their mentality and perceptions are also affected significantly, especially shortly after the conflict. This is noticed from their fear of meeting with people from different ethnicity, especially Dayak and Melayu. But over time, the trauma turned into an understanding that the conflicts occurred because of economic interest or because of political engineering based on the interests of the rulers. One of the factors that shape their perception of this conflict is pondok pesantren. Its environment and the education system significantly affected their perception. Pondok pesantren inhabited by the students with quite vast of race, ethnicity or language, thereby building tolerance between them, while its education system could build the character of leaders who are ready to protect the society with all its diversity.

The difficulty of finding a job requires the world of education to change the paradigm of maindset of students from the culture of job seekers to entrepreneurs. Pesantren is a potential educational institution and can also provide hands-on experience to students or students. Islamic boarding school graduates do not all become teachers or go to college or also directly work while students' desire or interest in entrepreneurship is still very low. Pesantren must be able to equip students or students by inserting learning activities with entrepreneurship education in order to equip them with skills. Particularly in the product packaging stage in this case is the use of Pontianak bananas because Pontianak bananas are bananas that have high economic value. The purpose of this abdimas is to inspire and empower students in pesantren so as to create their own employment with the skills to make products made from biodiversity. The results of this community service activity were the students' interest in entrepreneurship, especially the Pontianak fried banana business. This can be seen from the enthusiasm of the students in participating in activities by asking many questions about the product, how to package the product, label the product and also market the product.

Currently, the awareness of the importance of literacy among young people is very low. Whereas literacy is the ability to read and write. All knowledge can be known and even obtained by literacy. Literacy is a process of interaction or an ability within a person. Various readings that are now easy to access such as books, PDFs, journals, online libraries, and various other media are not able to arouse interest in reading, one of which is in Islamic boarding schools. The lack of available facilities is a major problem for all students at the Ittihadul Ummah Islamic Boarding School, especially among senior students. And in the end it causes enthusiasm or interest in reading students to decrease. This service activity with the Ulya santri literacy movement program at the Ittihadul Ummah Islamic Boarding School was carried out with the aim that all Ulya students were enthusiastic in literacy and could create works that could be seen by the general public.
